I absolutely love this Heine Brother’s location. There’s a location closer to my house but I’ve gone out of my way before to visit this location on the weekends. Thankfully, I work right around the corner and I stop by several times a week. The baristas are so friendly and make amazing coffee. I usually get a large iced vanilla latte and they really take their time to get the foam just right before spooning it on top. Other iced lattes I’ve had just don’t compare. It truly makes my work nights feel much more enjoyable when I’m able to stop by beforehand.

I don’t want to review this place because I want to keep it secret, keep it safe. It’s my Sheldon Cooper spot. It’s where I go to write and work on my creative endeavors. It is clean, it’s got a quiet area and a chatty area. They have great snacks and local treats. They have the great local Heine Brothers’ Coffee. I love it. I could say more and more but I want you to stay away so I can enjoy this place by myself! Or you can go when I’m at work, but just don’t take my spot.

There really is no bad Heine Brothers, but this is my favorite location! No matter the time, there is always an open table or two. There are outlets all over the place to make it easy to plug that laptop in, plus many of the tables have reading lamps! It doesn’t get too loud and people are generally very considerate of people around them. This is a fantastic location to study, have a meeting, or read a book. The outdoor patio is a stellar way to start your weekend too. I swear they are trying to make me never leave. The parking lot is not huge, but there is plenty of street parking available if necessary. I love that there is a drive thru, making it just a little easier to get my fix on. One word of caution for all Heine locations is that they mean business with their drinks! I once, and only once, ordered a large drink and there were 4 – 5 shots of espresso! I felt like I was having a seizure I was so hyper. I learned my lesson and now downgrade. But for espresso lovers, take advantage of the extra shots, cause you know you’d be paying for it at other places! My favorite drink to get is a dirty chai, aka a chai with a shot of espresso. It has that rich, sultry chai taste without the sickly sweetness. Mhmmm

A smaller location but cozy and comfortable. Parking can be a little difficult here; its slim pickens. But it’s worth it. Outdoor seating is wonderful. The inside is bigger than it appears. Great staff. I enjoy popping in here for a business meeting or catching up with a friend. It’s not as busy as some other coffee shops, so you can sit and chat for a while in relative peace.

Delicious Turtle Coffee treat. I enjoy the regular coffee as well. It is light yet not weak in taste. Wonderful service.

Back again with my friend for coffee. More of the same. If we return, I’ll have tea.

I enjoy Heine Brother a little bit too much! Christy is always the sweetest and most knowledgable barista! She is great at recommending tasty drinks and treats to make your soul thank you! It is in the heart of St. Matthews and offers a chill vibe and welcoming atmosphere. The red velvet cake is also delicious and a MUST have! I will be back and back and back and back some more!!!

You’re constantly forgetting the whip cream on my beekeeper iceberg even though I specifically ask you to put it on!

This is in a great location. The staff is friendly and fast. There are lots of options for beverages if you are not a coffee drinker. There is plenty of seating and the atmosphere is comfortable. I like to come in and meet with friends, or hang out while my car is serviced across the street.

I’m hoping that the remodeling that is under way does not take away from the charm of this little neighborhood coffee shop!

Worst Heine Brothers in Louisville. There are 4 baristas behind the counter and I’m going on 10 minutes waiting for my plain latte. I always have an wonderful experience going in to any other HB’s, but this one has always had poor service.

These coffee shops are what I wish my local Starbuck’s here in Florida were more like. In Louisville, where I was staying with friends, their shops were almost as prolific as those guys from Seattle, too. Prices seemed comparable — dare I say a few cents cheaper as well. Good stuff when you’re looking to fight that bonk at 3pm.

I’m sorry Kentucky. I don’t get it. Is it that Heine Brothers’ isn’t Starbucks? I stopped by this location to give Heine Brothers another try. The first one I went to on Shelbyville Road left a seriously burnt taste in my mouth for an entire day(even after brushing my teeth) but I thought that maybe it could have just been that particular location. Wrong. On another hot day, I needed a pick-me-up, so rather than drive wayyy out of my way to the place downtown that I REALLY wanted to try, I opted for something closer to where I was. I went through the drive-thru at this location and ordered an iced caramella, which is basically a caramel latte. I took one sip and recognized that familiar burnt taste that even the caramel flavor couldn’t mask. Blech. I don’t think it’s the beans. I guess their coffee might be ok. There’s got to be a reason some people out there seem to love this place… but after two attempts, I’ve come to the conclusion that their espresso is just not good. If you enjoy espresso beverages, I suggest checking out Quill’s or Day’s.

Great seating. Place always has great staff. The seating is comfortable. It is a tad better than Starbucks because it offers local fare. I also like the fact they EVERYTHING is served hot or cold. Almost all restaurants have only hot green tea. I like cold green tea and Heinz has flavors of it. I did get grounds in my coffee hence three stars.

This is my favorite Heine Bros location. The staff here are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. The drinks are delicious. Are they perhaps a few cents more than drinks at the major chain coffee store down the road? Yes, but you also get what you pay for. I go out of my way to visit Heine Bros over the larger chain because it’s locally owned and committed to brewing fair trade coffee. I usually get a drink to go or visit the drive through. The drive through is consistently quick, even if there are several cars ahead of me. I’ve also never had a problem with my order — my drink is always made correctly(and well!).

Even a gold member to another coffee chain needs a break sometimes. Heine Brothers on Chenoweth Ln is the perfect antidote to the mediocre mocha you may find anywhere else. The good, in no particular order: 1) Locally owned 2) Drive thru 3) Spacious 4) Friendly staff 5) Yummy drinks This particular location is a great place to enjoy a cup of joe by yourself, get some work done, or catch up with a friend. The interior is spacious and — when the weather is nice — the outside deck has some tables that are perfect for sharing a little coffee and conversation. Loyal patrons can also sign up for the HBC perks to accrue discounts on drinks, so I added another mini-card to my keyring on my last visit. There’s more than one way to get your caffeine fix, and every local java joint deserves some love!

I want to love my local coffee spot, but I’m not quite there with this particular Heine Brothers location. My most recent visits have been through the drive-thru, which seems to take longer than it should every time I visit. It seems that the staff has to divide their time between the front and the drive-thru, which makes things slightly less efficient than they could be. I’ve also come to dislike the outdoor patio. It’s a great space in and of itself, but is situated by the railroad tracks, which makes for disruptions if you’re trying to visit over a cup of joe. After several aggravating coffee dates with friends, we’ve abandoned this location during nicer weather in favor of other places. Finally, I haven’t been overly impressed with the employees here. One of them dented my car door with their own as they got out to go to work. They noticed that it had happened, because they stopped and looked in at me, then walked on in. What the heck?!? Most recently some of my latte spilled on me when they handed me my drink. The young employee chuckled but didn’t offer to hand me a napkin. With a few tweaks, this could be a great place to grab my morning Java, but until some things improve, I think I’ll stick to other spots.

Even if my husband’s family didn’t live in Louisville, I’d probably go back just for Heine Brothers’ Coffee. It’s consistently amazing. I’m particularly impressed by all the drive-throughs and that they have an Au Lait on the menu. Their lattes are also beautiful and tasty and when I have to sit and enjoy my coffee indoors, it’s always a great experience. It’s something we can all agree on. Heine Brothers’ has the perfect coffee for all of our varied tastes.

A neighborhood gathering place and a great coffee shop. This HB has a sunny room off to the side that is not as loud, if you need to do some work.

I don’t know why this is said to be $$$, it should be $. Heine brothers is a fair trade, local coffee shop that has a great atmosphere and unique designs. Great place to meet with friends!

I passed through Louisville on my drive from Columbus to Nashville. I needed something to wake me up. I had a double shot, and later went back for a latte. The double tasted deep and rich without an aire of burnt taste. The flavor matured, and slightly changed in taste, without giving off a hint of sourness. As for the latte, the barrista knew what she was doing with her latte art and put some love into her work. When I received the latte in my hands, I could tell it contained a small amount more foam than I would normally prefer in a latte. However, it’s what inside that counts, right? As I sipped into the center of the latte, I realized the extra smidge of foam had catalyzed the smoothness of the latte. Without the extra bit of foam, the rich espresso may have caused the latte to taste too bitter; but it was perfect. Lesson Learned: Never judge a latte by it’s foam. Heine Brothers’ Coffee was ideally decorated, and I felt more relaxed here, during the middle of a road trip, than at many other coffee houses I frequent. I think this is due, in part, to the high-rise shelving that separates the customer line from the tables. While sitting at a seat near a window, I couldn’t see the customers waiting or feel their afternoon angst. The wooden shelves housed glass jars of different types of coffee beans. Some of the walls were decorated with polaroids and photography. I found a seat and peered through a small window, watching the passerbyes of Baxter Avenue, and noting the subtleties of fine coffee.

This is a terrific place to meet a friend for coffee talk or to just hang out by yourself to read, be on your laptop, or just relax with a nice cup of joe. This location is very spacious and bright and the baristas are extremely friendly. Also, the deck is really nice and people were sitting at tables even in fifty-degree weather. Heine Brothers makes a great case for supporting local businesses and fair trade. When I lived in St. Matthews a few years ago, I didn’t come here often(and I literally lived across the street on Colonial Drive) because I didn’t drink a lot of coffee, but now that I wake up at ten til six in the morning and feel like more of an adult(whether I am or not is debatable), I need my caffeine! On this visit, I ordered the Nutty Irishman, which is unusual for me because I rarely deviate from my hot chai/green tea lattes, but this was actually not so different. The only difference was really the Irish cream added to the drink. I enjoyed this seasonal drink and would order it again. Of course, their drinks are more expensive, but I much prefer this kind of coffee house over Starbucks. This is another Louisville favorite of mine!!!

This is my favorite of the Heine Brothers locations and my favorite morning haunt when I’m in town. Its much quieter than the others — probably because it doesn’t get any pedestrian traffic — and its two rooms and patio mean that I never have to fight for a table. I’m not much of a coffee person, so I go for their chai lattes. Delicious! They have just the right amount of sweetness for my taste. I’m getting a little homesick just thinking about it!
