I was reluctant to go here because it is a «hotel restaurant,» but I should never have worried. I had the«ABLT»(Avocado BLT) which was served on thick, toasted bread with a savory mayo. It and the sweet potato fries it came with were delicious. Service was good, too; I placed my order over the phone and came to pick it up with no hassle or wait.

Staying at the Seelbach Hotel and it is just too cold to go out. The menu is small but everything we had was really good and reasonably priced. Our server Dai’Ja was a delight!!!

Staying at hotel it was a natural stop for breakfast. We opted for the breakfast buffet. Which surprisingly very good! The eggs to order excellent.

Gatsby’s has replaced Otto’s Café as the Seelbach’s casual dining room. My general impression is that they have created a fine enough spot for hotel guests who might not want to splurge for the Oakroom but also don’t want to brave the outdoors. It’s not memorable or exciting, but it is comfortable and belly-filling. You get none of the opulence of the rest of the hotel. The décor is hotel austerity at its finest.(Worst?) You could almost be in a hospital. My one lunch here was actually pretty good. I ordered the frisee and poached egg salad, a «healthy option» that might not have been that healthy, given that it came topped with a good 6 – 8 ounces of a pretty fatty and delicious skirt steak. My friend really liked her order of the soup du jour(beef & barley). Definitely better food than I got at Otto’s the couple of times I tried going there. And our servers were very attentive. Unfortunately, it’s not a great option for a business lunch, unless you don’t mind taking a solid hour for lunch.
