There is so much to see in this store, and like the name implies, it’s all crafty. Local artist galore in here with all kinds of products. From art prints, painted dictionary pages, or beautiful Star Wars china. Items in here can get a little pricier, so be aware but don’t let that scare you off. This stuff is great.

CRAFT{s} Gallery is another phenomenal boutique located in the South Fourth Street corridor(some refer to as SoFo). My first impression when I walk in is always«Wowsa, this place is packed with so much to see!» The space really is filled to the brim with handcrafted art and craft pieces from prints to glass to felted accessories. I agree with some other Unilocalers that the prices can be on the higher, gallery end(like KY Museum of Art & Craft price tags), but there are plenty of fantastic items available for under $ 40 –which is sort of my tipping point for gifts and presents for myself. On my last visit, which was a window shopping excursion before a Unilocal event, some pretty, wooden ornaments(for around $ 10) caught my eye. I’m headed back soon to see if I can pick some up for our tree. The shop often hosts openings and events which are a fun way to see new artwork and meet interesting folks. The staff at the gallery have always been warm and welcoming to me offering information on the artists and answering questions about their work. Recently, I had a great chat about local pottery. Don’t let fear of sticker shock keep you from venturing into CRAFT. You’ll be missing a little gem of a shop if you do.

They have a LOT of really cool things. Like… really really fun and cool. But those things that I think are really fun and cool… are SOEXPENSIVE. Which I would expect from a crafty gallery place thing. That doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed by it… while also impressed and likely to keep coming back… That being said, they did have prints from one of my favorite local artists that wasn’t break-the-bank expensive, and now I know where I can find her stuff! 100% worth a visit! Bring your sugar daddy and a no limit credit card!

I love going to this gallery and attending the events they put together. They have a great selection of art, jewelry, and other lovely items to decorate your home. The owners are wonderful, and put together a fantastic rotation of curated works.

You know the Groucho Marx sentiment that he wouldn’t belong to any club that would have him as a member? I’m kind of that way about art galleries. If I can afford to buy it, I probably don’t want to look at it. I also have the problem that if I like it, it’s probably not the sort of thing I would want to have in my home anyway. The point of my rambling is that I keep wandering into Craft(s) Gallery and finding things I like, can afford, and wouldn’t hate looking at in my living room every day. They are always showcasing the work of some local artist, but the store is otherwise full of other works, with a modest emphasis on folk art. A lot of this stuff wouldn’t be out of place in the KMAC gift shop(in fact, I think they carry some of the same artists). Definitely worth a look.
