Umm — I’m beginning to rethink my review. So… later down the road… have my problem with my MacBook. The one I was so excited about back in August… call up the store and they are like — can’t help you, you have to pay. The problem with is two things a. it is the cd rom/dvd drive — and I can tell in the software of the mac that it is a failure of the drive. I go to use it for the first time, and my disc got stuck. :-(But, I thought — oh they will recognize it was their problem and take responsibility — shame on me. What business really does this? None. And not this one evidently… I’ve called three of their stores, and every guy there talks to me the same way. I just wanted them to say, «hey we’re sorry, no problem, bring it in when you get to our area we’ll fix it. Sorry ’bout the inconvenience.» No…no they didn’t. Tried to talk me in circles. Everyone had a different story. No corporate store, then I find the corporate store, and they’re like«bring it to Evansville, IN, maybe we can take care of it for you, but if the drive is bad you’ll have to pay for it.» Oh yea, I’ll just run to Evansville and pay for a bum drive. See with computers, guys think us girls are idiots, much like cars. But this girl isn’t — I know that when that drive was installed and if that drive ever worked. Shame on them. I also know that nothing in this mac, less the hard drive is Apple. I called Apple, and they said that was a no-no. Evansville said all companies do it. No — no they don’t. I have taken apart many a Dell, and they are marked with Dell parts, or «Dell approved» parts, not Toshiba or knock-offs. So Apple looked up my serial number… they said it had a vin number attached to it meaning it was no longer an Apple product, and not even Apple could or would fix it. To me this is all unethical business practices. I have an apple shell with an apple operating system and hard drive. I guess you could call it a mac, but it’s not what I was buying. They also told me all computer components were checked before they put them to sell… I’m very dissatisfied they forgot the rom drive and I may have to pay for it. If I do, I am going to report this information to the Better Business Bureau… not that they do anything. But, this is deplorable. I know I should have tried the drive sooner, but I trusted them. I trusted their business. And that is my fault… and I’m sure it will cost me. But most importantly shame on me, because I am genuinely sorry for the good Unilocal I gave them and all my fellow Unilocalers may have used their business.(heavy sigh). Hindsight is 20/20, I guess… and even then I still wear glasses. :-/
