The Cuban sandwich was awesome. A nice little kick with the sauce, but not too hot. Great crowd, music and just a down home feeling.

We went here for dessert late. When we went in, the place was only 25% full. The hostess asked how many, then disappeared for five minutes while we waited. She’d been standing there for I don’t know how long, then acted as if she had no idea where to seat us, again, tables everywhere. After that, the cake we had was good. The place wasn’t very elegant, kind of uninteresting inside. Probably won’t be back, tho.

Wife and I went for dessert only and had a great experience. The hot chocolate was fantastic — was a true drinking chocolate, not your average cup of powdered mix. Our desserts were the flourless chocolate cake and the Lady Godiva(mouse filled, chocolate candy coated, slap ur mama goodness). Both exceeded expectations. Wait staff was very helpful as was the owner, Sandy, who spent time answering some questions and adding to the overall experience. Atmosphere was fun as well/had live music(Friday night) and the place was packed. We will definitely go back and try the normal fare as that part of the menu looked very appetizing.

This place is pretty good. I had the creole pasta, it was flavorful, spicy and you get quite a big portion. I had the Belgian chocolate mousse cake for dessert, it was very good without being too rich. My only complaint is regarding the mojito I had. It wasn’t good at all, it tasted like extremely cheap rum was used, mixed with only water and a couple mint leaves. Just wasn’t good. What was cool was, anyone who bought a cocktail could go over to the other side of the restaurant and get a free manicure! That was pretty awesome.

There are a lot of bad reviews which made me wary of entering this place, but I went anyways. Arrived in time for happy hour, so ordered a few martinis. The key lime pie and banana cream pie were my faves. Ordered some appetizers to share with my friends and they were only so-so. The staff was super friendly and professional. We went on martinis and manicures Monday night, and it didn’t take too long to get a manicure. It’s not a super professional manicure, more like someone just painting your nails(no clear base coat or cuticle pushing or anything), but the manicurists were friendly and charming and did a fine job. I’d go back for happy hour but eat somewhere else.

Had a incredible experience with great service and artistically crafted food! Kudos to executive chef Anthony for the fine meal and for taking even just a few moments to greet the dinner guests at each table. Thank you!

Shouldn’t an establishment that promotes the savory temptation of food & drink whose main ingredient is comprised of the single most addictive ingredient– chocolate, have a web site that showcases these sensational addictions with photographs to tempt the palate and makes ones mouth water? The majority of reviews say both the food. & service is mediocre at best and the drinks are getting a mixed review. So for now I give them an «F» for their marketing efforts as their site leaves much to be desired. With today’s tech savy consumer turning to online resources for others unbiased opinions before buying the product, I would have expected much more given their target audience is the rather upscale, educated clientele. Sorry I will pass until the ratings improve and I view an improved menu. Louisville has far too many fine establishments so why take a chance on one that’s mediocre?

Due to a friend and my love for chocolate, we came here– turned out a lot of customers are women– sorry but that cracked me up. How apt, when you think about it! We got chocolate margaritas– mine with chocolate and chiles– divine, with a bite! We ordered Baked Brie(with fruit and sauce), with pitas and bread, it was so good. Then I got the smoked grilled cheese– very good, but looking back, I ate too much cheese. Next time I’ll have to try the Turkey Berry– it looks so good. My only regret is that the food made us so full that we couldn’t order a chocolate dessert! :(

Don’t miss out on this treat! I don’t often venture as far east as Westport Village but my curiosity was peaked when a co-worker recently raved about the Chocolate Bar. Last night I met a friend there to find out for myself what the talk was all about. We were seated immediately when we arrived at 6:00 pm. The restaurant’s interior was warm and classy without being overly decorated. The service was friendly and prompt throughout the meal. It was happy hour so the majority of appetizers were on sale for $ 5. We tried the fried ravioli and it was crisp on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. The marinara sauce was slightly spicy. I ordered the mac and cheese for my main course and it was among the best I’ve ever had. It was creamy and rich with a smokey flavor(perhaps Gouda?). I would go back just to eat that mac and cheese again. For dessert I had the Oreo mud. It was rich and very sweet but didn’t have a very strong Oreo flavor. I also tasted a bite of my friend’s peanut butter mud which was absolutely decadent with layers of varying textures and flavors. It is absolutely the dessert to order. I will mention that the prices for the appetizers and entrees were reasonable but the desserts and hot chocolate seemed outrageous. They wanted more than $ 8 for a hot chocolate, a milk shake, or a sundae. It’s hard to imagine paying those prices when you can literally walk from their restaurant to Heini Brothers, Comfy Cow, Ghyslain, etc. Despite a few overpriced menu items I would still absolutely go back to the Chocolate Bar. The food is just too good to miss out on.

Great concept, horrible execution. This place seems to be a «feelin good in the neighborhood» kind of place without a cause. I was concerned after I ordered the Aztec hot chocolate and the bartender had to refer to the menu he then disappeared for about ten minuets. When he returned I was served a Swiss Miss with cinnamon schnapps, the worst part was the clumps of mix that were floating in the drink. It was a terrible waste of $ 9 just judging from the rest of the menu and the ignorant staff I’d have to say stay away, far away.

My friend and I went to have a girls night out and had a wonderful time. I feel like our server was possibly new, but he did a pretty decent job. I ordered a lemon drop martini and she had the raspberry chocolate martini which were both delicious! We did need to move to the outside because it was quite cold inside, where we were then apparently interrupting a party of fly’s(but what else to you expect when you eat outside). I ordered the apple and goat cheese salad which didn’t have a lot of either of those, but it was rather large and delicious with the poppy seed dressing! My friend got the California Wrap which she said was pretty good, but the sweet potato fries were amazing! We ended the night by splitting a chocolate lava cake… Oh My Gosh! Super tasty! Kinda want to come back on Monday to get a manicure or Wednesday to get a massage: D

Talk about hitting it out if the park right off the bat! This is my favorite place in town!!! The spinach dip is out of this world, not like any other! After we finished this huge helping we moved on to dinner I enjoyed the wonders of the macadamia crusted tilapia and I thought I was on the shore. I couldn’t believe how fresh and delicious this was. WOW! Then I thought how can I go to the CHOCOLATE bar and not order dessert. The New York cheesecake is out of this world. I would recommend this to anyone!!! Go check it out for yourself I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Save yourself a lot of time and skip this place. A friend of mine lives near The Chocolate Bar and suggested we go there for a quick bite and a drink one Sunday evening. There was nothing quick about this experience. We walked in around 8:45pm and the restaurant had a full patio, large party and one other table inside, and an empty bar. The one or two waitstaff I saw were frantically running between the kitchen and these tables. Already I was concerned. We sat down at the bar and the bartender, who was also serving as the host, came over to us after a couple minutes and offered us drink menus. Their drink list is extensive, but with nearly nothing that wasn’t a super sweet concoction listed, except for a classic martini which had an upcharge of $ 3.95 to the already staggering sweet martini prices of $ 9.95, I decided to pass in favor of water. We ordered Fried Ravioli as an appetizer, a grilled sandwich, and their«Chocolate Bar Pasta.» After waiting 45 minutes in a now empty restaurant, we still hadn’t seen any food. After asking the bartender, who was friendly but obviously unhappy with his job, about our food, he said that the restaurant actually closed at 9 and the kitchen must have just ignored the order since it was put in after 9. …um…what? Frustrated, I told him that the restaurants website said that the restaurant was open until midnight, to which I was told, «Well, the door says 9.» I’m sorry, but if I make a point to look up your hours on your website before I come, I’m probably not going to think to double check them as I’m walking in your door. An hour after ordering, we got our appetizer, which was subpar, but I did like the dipping sauce(Creole Marinara.) Another member of our party found the sauce way too spicy for her liking, but was told there was no plain marinara available. An hour and a half after ordering, we got the rest of our food. We all tried the Chocolate Bar Pasta and found ourselves somewhere between confused and disgusted. A measly pile of fettuccine in what was advertised as a white chocolate, wine, and white peppercorn cream sat on one side of the plate with something like a corn salsa on the other side. Were we supposed to combine them? Eat them separately? Who knows? Eventually I put them together but still found myself displeased at the unpalatable mixture of sugary and peppery flavors of the dish. I was expecting some sweetness because of the white chocolate, but hoped for just a hint of that, with mostly creamy, savory, salty, and spicy elements to balance that. I don’t know why I would expect that much competency that sells shirts that say things like«will sell husband for chocolate.» No one offered to comp anything, and the bartender didn’t even offer any sort of apologies for the delay. After I left, my friend ended up talking to the manager who offered to send me a coupon for two free entrees, but I doubt I’ll be using them. Even if I wanted to eat anything at Chocolate Bar again, I doubt they’ll stay open long enough for me to make it back.

Chocolate Covered Trainwreck! Lets start by saying our drinks took 30 minutes, two of which were mediocre and one was undrinkable. We ordered appetizers which were underwhelming and cold. We left chocolate on our plates… that is how bad it was! We were going to have dinner but needless to say we did not stay. The worst part was to make up for it the owner brought us two glasses(half full) of her favorite drink to make up for it. Didn’t buy the drinks we waited forever for or send us dessert or anything else.

It’s not so sweet… Let’s face it, a place called Chocolate Martini Bar, gets a star on concept alone. As a dessert location with martinis this place has got your Cheesecake Factory feel all over it. My drink and dinner menu was a book trilogy worth of information. However once you take the glam away from chocolate martinis that serve a table and everything being covered in chocolate you start to get the dark bitter aftertaste of this concept restaurant. As a restaurant this place fails. My friend and I had the Mediterranean Salad and crusted tilapia. The salad was mostly lettuce with grilled shrimp. The tilapia was an interesting concept, but extremely bland. Our cocktails and dessert, without continuing to say, were amazing. I was a little dismayed, not surprised, that chocolate was on every thing for chocolate sake not because it tasted well with the dishes. Wesport Village is not in my neighborhood, so I do not feel compelled enough to take a trip back to this chocolate bar. The service was not the best, since there is so much on the menu, the staff only know half of the information. In addition for a recently opened restaurant it seemed they had already understaffed themselves for a Thursday night. If however, I am looking for a girls night out, this would be the traditional and well suited place to go. Let’s just say I have a feeling more mediocre reviews might start showing up when this place, even with Chocolate, can not make it past a group of women PMSing.

This small franchise(3 locations) is housed in a former bank building and has been nicely renovated. The bank vault is available for private parties and is where the manicure stations are located for their current Monday«martini’s and manicures» special. We arrived about 7 pm on a Friday evening. The restaurant was full with large tables of birthday celebrations. Next to us was a 10 or 12 person table celebrating the birthday of a girl who looked to be about 10 years old. This seems to be an ideal setting for a little girl birthday party. Lots of fun chocolate options like s’mores, fondue, hot chocolate, Serendipity-style(NYC) frozen hot chocolate, etc. By about 8 pm, the restaurant was much quieter and conducive to adult conversations. There is a huge selection of martinis featuring chocolate, and almost all menu entrees include chocolate, or at least, chocolate decorating the plate. One menu item we really enjoyed was the caprese salad appetizer, which was large enough for sharing. Their special ingredient was sea salt sprinkled on top, which was a really good addition to balance the chocolate sauce lightly drizzled on top. This is a really casual restaurant(shorts and flip flops during summer is fine here). The menu is reasonably priced as well. Two entrees, two glasses of wine, a shared appetizer and a shared dessert came to $ 60.

THis place has potential it is still going thoeugh the growing pains of a new restaurant. THe menu is extensive(not Cheescake Facotory scale but still wide). The dessert menu is what you come for, and the martinis(I did not partake as it was lunch but there are like 30). choclate is the theme and they carry it over to pretty muc everything you can think of. If you are a choco-holic then swing by and try some of the frozen hot chocolate, or even a root beer float.

I can’t give a wonderful review but it was pretty good. My family went here for mother’s day and they has only been open for 10 days. We were over booked but we had reservations and were seated pretty much on time. That is the problem… we waited for our food for over an hour. Hopefully they have fixed the issue. The owner was very gracious and gave us a free chocolate fondue appetizer. The kids loved it and was enough to share for six people to get a little taste of chocolate before dinner. I had the chicken caesar wrap which was OK… I think it sat waiting for other meals to get cooked. 5 of the six of us were served our meals and then the last had to wait for over 5 minutes. We sat there with our food at the table getting cold. My lettuce on the wrap was wilted so bad I had to take it off the wrap. Other than that, the meal was really tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their meals once they finally arrived. Desserts were awesome! We enjoyed them enough we might give them another chance.

I have to say, for a restaurant that hasn’t even been open a month, this place has got it going on. It’s a new building in the Westport Village area, toward the back by Mr. Gatti’s. The ambient lighting is low the the décor is done in coppers and browns(as one would expect of a place called the Chocolate Bar). It’s not the biggest space, but there’s enough room between tables to feel comfortable. Tv’s around the room show«Charlie and the Chocolate Factory» and that infamous chocolate episode of «I Love Lucy.» The menu consists of a similar variety of dishes to the Cheesecake Factory. There isn’t much of a theme besides«edible» and«has chocolate in it.» This isn’t a bad thing. The menu itself is quite large and takes awhile to peruse. My group shared the chocolate baguette. It reminded me of choc au pain that had been grilled and salted. I really enjoyed the dark chocolate with that savory salt note. The potato chips it came with were also good, but the olive oil and chocolate dipping sauce was a bit difficult to eat. Interesting concept, but I was wishing for a better– emulsified dipping sauce. My friend ordered the peppercorn chocolate soup, which technically is a dessert, but is savory enough to be shared as an appetizer. It was TRULY delicious. I loved the spicy note of the peppercorns, but it was a large bowl of soup. I could not have eaten the whole thing by myself. I had the buffalo chicken salad. The chicken was well spiced and flavorful, the onions were nice and caramelized and the salad was a great balance. The menu suggested the blue cheese dressing, but I subbed for the balsamic. I’m glad I did because it made a great counterbalance to the rich toppings on the salad. I HIGHLY recommend trying it. We didn’t get dessert, but I am really looking forward to when we do. The place seems to be off to a good start and the owner mentioned several fun events(martini and manicure Monday being one of them). I really look forward to returning to this fun edition to the community. Edit: I finished off my salad leftovers this morning. It really was just as good as I thought it was last night. The CPK Cobb Salad used to be my go-to if I was too lazy to make one, but I will definitely be getting the take-out from Chocolate Bar to satisfy my Cobb cravings from now on.
