On my way out of town, I stopped here for lunch on recommendation. House salad with grilled chicken. My Louisville friend ordered a Cobb Salad. Pros: Fresh ingredients. Very large entrée portions. Attentive service(I always ask for water-no-ice, a request which is rarely honored in Louisville. Here, I asked once and never had to remind a soul.) Convenient location. Cons: 20% over-priced. Salad dressings were bottle-quality served in 2 oz cup portions. I expected home-made for the price and in the context of «Café Fraiche.» Of which speaking — there is not one sliver of anything French in the place. Standard lunch feature is Quesadilla. Was hoping for something like Seattle’s Bastille Café & Bar or Café Campagne. I’ll miss my Louisville friends and family but I ache for my hometown cuisine.

Stopped in for lunch because we’d passed by a few times. I’m so glad we did. I got bacon quiche and avocado salad. It was delicious. My honey got a pulled pork sandwich with fruit and a cup of chili that he said was also pretty tasty. It’s a small place but the service is good, the people are friendly, and the food was yummy. :)

The French Toast here is divine and the staff are super nice. I’ve had almost everything on the menu — so prepare to have a hearty meal.

I went to Café Fraiche for brunch this past weekend. What a disaster! When we first walked in, the woman behind the counter told us she wasn’t ready yet and that they didn’t open until 10:00. I looked at the time — 9:58. Hmm. We came back(first mistake!) about 15 minutes later. This time, she looked up and asked us what we needed. Well… we’ve just entered a restaurant, so I’m guessing we need… food? I told her we were dining in, asked her where the menus were, and found a table. We ordered an omelet to share. The menu stated that the omelet came with your choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, plus either cheese grits or fruit. We asked for bacon and cheese grits as our sides(key word here!). What came out? Well, they’d put the bacon IN to the veggie omelet. Only one of us eats bacon, so we tried to send it back. No dice — the server refused to take it. She said it would be too hard to re-make it, so they would just make a second, meatless omelet. Uh, am I missing something? Wouldn’t they be doing the same thing if they re-made the omelet we’d ordered, just without bacon? We were too confused to argue, so we commenced eating our cheese grits and waited. 10 or so minutes later, the server brings out the second omelet, along with a small cup of shredded cheese. Hmm. She sets it down in front of me and snidely explains that they’d left the cheese out because«after all that, they just weren’t sure.» As she’d seen me eating the cheese grits, apparently this was just their way of showing me how annoyed they were that I didn’t eat bacon. There are too many good restaurants in Louisville to put up with service this terrible. I’ll never be back, and I’ll be warning my friends to avoid Café Fraiche unless they’re feeling particularly masochistic.
