The only thing good I can say is the owner seems like a really great guy. I dined in. The pizza toppings were cold, they were plentiful, but cold. They took it back and it came out burnt. Second bad experience here.

I grew up not too far from here and it was a staple of all the local families weekly dinners. Great pizza, my favorite in the city. If you like Wick’s you will like this pizza. Their steak hoagie’s are also really good! I love me some Angilo’s, I don’t live as close anymore but I still try to make the occasional trip out that way just for the pizza. I just wish they had more locations!

Pizza is on point. Toppings all the way to the edge of the pizza & they don’t skimp on them either! The service is always with a smile, and super friendly. There is a reason this place has been around for years. Steak hoagies are amazing as well. I’ve yet to try the pasta, but will get to it soon, I just can’t get away from the pizza and the hoagie! Definitely need to go if you haven’t been yet. You’ll be a regular.

I know this place has been around for ever and has a cult following, but for someone eating there for the first time I was not impressed. First I will say the pizza was not bad. Not great but not bad. The staff however was less than pleasant and seemed to act like the customers were more of a bother than anything else. Rushed to order because your standing in line and required to order at the counter. I guess this is fine if you have been there 20 times but not welcoming for new customers. Especially when they have a seating area for eat in. The biggest problem is the interior of this place. It is really run down and dirty with cracked walls, stained ceilings, wires hanging out everywhere… Make no mistake. This is not the flavor of a historic pizza place. This is just run down junky. Maybe that why the majority of there business is take out. Would like to be more positive but just can’t. Like I said the pizza was not bad but see no reason to return.

Some things change. Angilo’s does not. I hadn’t been by this Southside staple in some time but an opportunity arose to pop in for a bite so I thought, «Why not?» I don’t think it would have mattered one iota if I’d stopped in any earlier as the only change has been the addition of a couple flatscreen TVs. Angilo’s dreary décor, drab lighting, couple video games, crane game and jukebox, make you hope that the food is fantastic. And the food… well, I’ll get to that in a minute. Firstly, a few tips to smooth out your dining experience. One, yes, it is located in a seedy area off Berry Blvd(no, this is not a true boulevard) but feel safe in that the cops love this place. Second, bring cash, as Angilo’s doesn’t accept plastic or checks. There’s an ATM near the counter but I’m always for avoiding the fees. Last, you order at the front counter near the entrance. Service is friendly and attentive so no worries there, and now, the food… it’s good. The pizza crust is thin and that crust is light but crisp, but not cracker thin though. The sauce is a little sweet but not overly so and they don’t skimp on the toppings. And from what I recall, the other offerings: spaghetti, sandwiches, etc. are all good, too, and relatively inexpensive. And that’s Angilo’s, a perfectly good spot for take-home food.
