Absolutely delicious! We are here from out of town, and I would drive the 90 minutes just to eat here again. The owner greeted us and gave excellent recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken curry and steak Shish kabob.

OMG! A 5-star review based on one item, their Falafel Wrap! ITISAMAZING! I am a very picky eater but this is just so good, tasty and definitely fills you up! Addis is not the fanciest of restaurants(kind of a cafeteria feel) but it is always full. Service is good and fast and they have tons of options in their menu. I will definitely return and ask for their Falafel Wrap because I just can’t have enough of it!

I went here the first time this week, and got the chicken curry for lunch. It’s definitely a low key place, very reasonably priced, and good for a quick lunch during the work day. The chicken curry itself was delicious — well-seasoned and moist. The rest of the meal was good as well, with Mediterranean staples like hummus, pita, and rice. Will probably swing by here for lunches again.

Whether it is the healthy chicken kebab with the fabulous garlic accompaniment, the lamb, or the Ethiopian cuisine, these folks deliver flavor and value unique to downtown Louisville. Bar service too — it is a true treasure for those of us in the know…

I work right down the street from this place. I run down and order food quiet often. I’ve never been disappointed by the service or the food I’ve ordered. I’ve only ever ordered to go, but this place is absolutely packed every time I go in. Definitely would recommend to anyone who’s up for some delicious, authentic Mediterranean.

This is my absolute favorite place to eat in Louisville. Everything tastes so good, fresh and cooked with love. The Ethiopian food is the most authentic and delicious in Louisville. I would highly recommend it.

Addis combines two of the holiest cuisines on the planet — Mediterranean and Ethiopian — and serves ‘em up in a hole-in-the-wall no frills eatery. While I’ve tried both sides of the menu, I recommend the Ethiopian over Mediterranean. You’ll certainly leave with leftovers. While though not as consciousness-shifting as Queen of Sheba(but what is, right?), it’s a definite gem downtown. Why someone would eat at Panera over this place is beyond me, but the world’s a mysterious place sometimes.

I came back during Lunch time around 1PM and they were open. As a Vegan visiting Louisville, this was my best choice. I ordered Channa Masala and it quite good. Spicy and gives a kick!

This was not what I expected when I walked in, but I thought I would try. The woman at the counter was rude and it took about an hour to get our food.

I came to Addis for lunch recently because it was very convenient to where I was staying downtown(and because it’s Ethiopian food). I’m sure this place is busy during lunch hours, but we were here a bit later in the afternoon, and it was very quiet. We were greeted by and had a very nice conversation with the woman who took our order(which was a vegetarian combo for 2). The menu might make people scratch their heads, because how in the world do you process an entrée like«Chicken and vegan lunch for 2»(I guess the idea is that the non-vegan has the chicken, but it still sounds curious). Anyway, our lunch came out quickly and was quite good. One mistake we made was that we asked for it too mild, and it came out that way. We had wanted it a bit more spicy, which they would have easily done, but that also shows that if you don’t want it spicy, that’s not a problem. I can’t call this the«full» Ethiopian experience, just because it’s more like a lunch counter meal, at least for lunch. But they do have a dining room with a bar as well if you want something a little more formal.

A pleasant surprise. The curry chicken was delicious. Service was extremely fast and price is fair.

Good portions, but just ok really. There wasn’t much flavor and they could use salt and pepper definitely. Also, the prices add up real quick!

Haven’t had Ethiopian in the last 15 years. Saw this place pop up on Unilocal,so checked it out. Food tastes amazing, very good if you are into spicy foods, and the prices are low. I had a Chicken/Vegetarian combo dish with the traditional Ethiopian bread. Portion was such that I was full with still some of the pita left. A total steal in downtown Louisville, which is over-saturated with American Restaurants selling«comfort food.»

Some of the best hummus, yogurt sauce, tabbouleh, and falafel you will find anywhere! Get there early, around 11:30 am, or you may wait in line with lots of young professionals from nearby office buildings(who know the good places to eat!). Friendly staff, freshly made food. Don’t miss Addis Grill, you will love their food.

I have to dissent a little about this restaurant. I liked it, but didn’t love it. I expected a different atmosphere, but it wasn’t what I thought. You order at a counter vs. sit down service… no big deal. One thing I didn’t like was that some of the tables hadn’t been cleared and cleaned, and things just seemed a little disheveled. I arrived at the end of the lunch rush, and they were out of the lamb dish. Not a deal breaker, I diverted to the beef. It was tasty, but I wasn’t gaga over it. I substituted rice for the traditional accompaniment, and the grains were huge and perfectly cooked. I would come here again, but it wouldn’t be tops on my list. Just A-OK.

Thee most friendly staff/owner welcomed us! Great prices and the food is EXCELLENT. We are from out of town and made this place our go to restaurant to stay away from 4th street and all the chains, wish I could pack this place up and take it back to California. Don’t miss out!

Had the Doro Tibs(chicken). An etiopian dish that comes with injera(bread), & atkilt(cabbage). 11 bucks and was more than I could eat. The bread is very filling & chicken was excellent! If you have never had thus cuisine venture out and try it.

I love this place, but note to self: don’t come at 12:15pm when there’s a convention in town. We waited about 20 minutes for our food. But it was worth it! I had the channa masala, which was really hot. I was grateful for the rice. It also came with a good salad(good, but heavy on the oil-based dressing), some hummus, and pita bread. Totally worth it.

Addis is Ethiopian for delicious and their expansion is romantic. If they served breakfast I would eat there three squares because the food is incredible. Aromatic, complex, depth, steamy, heat. Grape leaves balance tang and earth, kabobs come charred and moist, sauce and stew injera scooped, meats are hearty and of quality. Portions for three days, so I can take out & breakfast, yeay. The owner is serenely friendly, and his wife, the cook, is attentive to every order. They also take credit and seat outside, so I Visa and patio.

I first visited Addis a few months ago with a friend of mine who works in the nearby Humana building. I’m glad that he introduced me to this small downtown gem, because I would have never thought to visit it myself. Addis Grill is located in a small storefront near the river, and though its outward appearance is easily missed, its food should not be. The first time I visited, I enjoyed their hummus and falafel, and both were delicious. The menu had a Mediterranean and Ethiopian section, but we both stuck to the Mediterranean dishes with which we were familiar. I had never had Ethiopian food at this point, so I took his word when he told me to stay clear of it since it was«strange.» This latest time, I returned with a friend of mine after having Ethiopian food at a restaurant near my house(and loving it.) I had been constantly craving Ethiopian food while I was at work in the Highlands and finally got someone to visit Addis with me so that I could scratch the itch. I hadn’t had the Ethiopian food there before, but remembering how good the Mediterranean food was, I was confident that their Ethiopian dishes would be just as good. I was not disappointed. We arrived at Addis soon after they opened, though we still had to park in the garage next to it after being unable to find any street parking remotely near to the restaurant. Fortunately, Addis validates for this garage, so parking in it only cost $ 1. We ordered the Ethiopian sampler for two, which conveniently included all the different stews that Addis offers, so we were able to try every Ethiopian dish offered. Everything was delicious, though the kik wot was a standout, as it seems to be at every Ethiopian restaurant. Soon after our food was brought to us, a HUGE line formed, extending out the door and down the sidewalk. We had luckily hit downtown just before lunch hour when the employees from the surrounding buildings flocked into Addis. Addis is definitely more bare bones than the other Ethiopian restaurant I have dined at, but their food is so excellent that it doesn’t matter. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a new dining experience in Ethiopian food or if you’re just in the mood for some Mediterranean favorites.

Found this place with the«Monocle» part of the app. I am a REAL fan. I consider this an great Lunch stop, or something you want to dash in and get a bite from(or sit out front). A deli by design and ambiance, do not judge the food based on the simple and straight forward presentation. The place is spotless, the tables and chairs comfortable enough. The huge counter /where you order can be a bit confusing if there is no one there when you walk in. But the food. The ‘Stuffed Grape Leaves’ were SO plump and filled with goodness it set off my inner child and I found myself not lifting them between two fingers to drop like a candy into my mouth, but cutting at them with knife and fork, savoring the flavor and plumpness and being transported back to old friends house who prepared them for me with the love of good friends. The food here tastes like it is filled with passion. With a care for presentation(even on paper and plastic) and quality — they also don’t skip out quantity. You get a lot of food for your money here. I will be returning often to try a variety of things on the menu.
