I finally found a trustworthy AC repair man! Last year my evaporator coils went out and had to pay $ 250 service call plus another $ 1200 for parts and labor with Select Air and Heating of Creedmoor. I was *this close* to getting a home warranty but decided to hold off. I asked around and a neighbor gave me Kenneth Marshall’s phone number. He is the owner of K&M heating and air. I could not fathom paying another $ 1500+ when the AC went out again. I desperately needed a reputable yet cheap AC repair service. I finally found that with K&M Heating and Air. He’s a one man business and definitely not corporate by any means. To be honest, he is as country as it gets. However, the guy gets the job done just as good as the bigger AC repair services out there. The total for him coming out and replacing an AC part — a whopping $ 90! When we told him what we paid to get the evaporator coils last summer, he nearly fell over and told us he could easily have done it for $ 300(I paid $ 1200). We also asked him his thoughts on getting a new AC unit– which is what the other AC repair service we worked with wanted us to do– he was honest and said new units were unnecessary. A new unit would cost us $ 5k-$ 7k and he reassured us that it was not imperative to get the units at this time. He simply advised us that it was wise to slowly save up for them and get more energy efficient units next time. All the info he provided to us let me know he just wasn’t out to make a quick buck and gauge his customers. This is one phone number I don’t intend on losing. If you own a house — you need to keep this guy’s number handy.
