I really wanted to like this place. I love BBQ and I had a lot of high hopes just based on the name, but all I got was disappointment. I was expecting slow smoked BBQ with some great sauces, what I got was lacking any smoke flavor or smokey ness, one plain sauce, and BBQ that I suspect was made in an oven. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It may have been cooked on a smoker but it didn’t have any smokey ness whatsoever. They also only have one BBQ sauce which I didn’t like. The owner let me try some of their wings sauces none were any good with the BBQ. Every BBQ joint should have at least a sweet sauce, a spicy sauce, a vinegary Carolina sauce, and a mustard based sauce. The bun was not your typical bun which was a plus and the service here was excellent. My wife had the ribs. I’m positive these were made in an oven instead of smoker. You know what I mean, they fall off the bone instead of pulling off like they were way overcooked. No smoke ring or detectable smokey flavor. And again no choice of sauce or rubs. I believe my favorite part of the meal were the French fries. The biggest disappointment was with the kids meals. The kids ate them, they were reasonably sized, priced between $ 4 – 5. However, they tacked on another $ 2.50ea for a small kids drink. So we spent $ 10 just on fountain drinks. They had these giant brownies and cookies too for dessert at a reasonable price. Again I was disappointed with them and my kids who normally love dessert more than anything didn’t even finish the cookies. The level of service here was easily 4 – 5 stars but I’m rating the food mostly. I will give it another try.
