My 8 year old daughter attended her first Steve and Kate camps this past summer and she can not wait to go back. I like this is a day camp and what I mean is that it is day to day camp not a week like most summer camps. You can buy per day and attend any Steve and Kate camp. It was nice because we could pick from any of the camps in the Bay Area to attend that day but Los Gatos won out due to be closer to my work. Yes, it can be a little expensive but remember that includes lunch and snacks. Speaking of lunch and snacks, can you say yummy. My kid is not much of picky eater but likes what she likes. At camp, she tried new things that I would have never thought she would try. The camp offers up a wide variety of things to do. Something to keep in mind is that this is not structured camp. The kids are not told what to do and every minute planned. In the morning, Steve and Kate’s gives a brief overview and then the kids can let loose. They can spend as much time or as little time at whatever they want to do. They even have an area to just chill out and relax if you want. The staff makes sure that all kids are included so no kid ends up sitting in a corner all day. They have sewing, cooking, animation stations, dancing, singing and daily out events like a zip line or bounce house. I daughter lived in the animation studio. She loved to make little movies and I got an email every day showing me her finished product. My daughter is counting the days before summer so she can do back to Steve and Kate’s. I just wished they offered a camp for grown-ups. I want to go!

My daughter and her friend, 11 year olds at the time, were bored at this camp. The stations were constantly filled and they called me early to pick them up since they were bored. The counselors kept them a little busy helping them watch the little kids– not exactly what we had in mind! I think this camp would definitely be great for kids 10 and under. To be fair the owners did contact me and said changes were made, more staffing etc so I think parents should check it out. Still not sure if 11+ up would be good for this camp.
