Nice place for a drink, the bartenders are friendly and attentive. They will make you any kind of drink you want, just ask. The food is good too and always fresh tasting and well prepared. Service is really good.

I had dinner at Steamer’s last night with my parents and grandparents, and it was a very nice night! Our waiter was Michael, and he was very friendly and very patient and helped answer questions that my grandparents had about the menu and the specials and exchanging rice for green beans. Unfortunately, I myself am not a seafood person and I didn’t realize just how much seafood this place has!(We went here via suggestion from my dad) He did say that there would be non-seafood items on the menu, and he was right but there were only two options. I had the Prime New York Steak, and it was absolutely delicious, but again, it was only one of two options. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice night out with family or friends or coworkers, the restaurant is very well kept and they have a «cell free» policy which makes dinner out even more pleasant. Thank you, Michael for the great evening!

Pretty underwhelmed by the restaurant as a whole. Seating was prompt and drink orders were taken quickly. The inside of the restaurant is dated and feels like it could use a remodel or at least a fresh coat of paint. The meal began with burrata with tomatoes which I would never order again, without the tomatoes the cheese was flavorless and much too wet. I also had a Baka style shrimp cocktail which was delicious and came with home made tortilla strips(I asked for extra because of the size of the cocktail). For dinner I had the sea bass which was bland, greasily fried and disappointing. If I come back it will be for shrimp cocktail and a drink before heading elsewhere for my main course. My friend had the salmon which I tried and, while better than the sea bass, was still bland and not up to par with similarly priced/similar ambience restaurants I’ve had.

Best steamed clams I’ve had in a long time. The broth was so fresh and vibrant I could have had it alone with bread — oh, that’s right I did! Ordered the steamers linguine and wasn’t disappointed. Perfect portion with prawns perfectly cooked.

Ordered the Brazilian Stew. The Chicken in it was overcooked and tough, the fish and rice were cooked perfectly, and the broth was a tad salty. Overall the dish was good but in my opinion not worth the price. My wife had a Cesar salad and the artichoke dip, both were excellent.

Enjoying nice Mother’s Day lunch, great oysters, halibut and wine. Bar/Wait staff great, host/manager a disgrace… If there is an issue with staff, take them aside and tell them what you don’t like. A patron does not want to hear the issues you have, discretion is your reputation!

Met some friends here. I had been here previously over the 30+ years or so that they have been around — when they were across the street. Ambience was crowded; the noise level was high, so, not much space for it to go! They specialize in seafood, though unfortunately, not really my thing, so I ordered the - BRAISEDBONELESSSHORTRIB at $ 28. Reggiano Herb Polenta /Baby Spinach /Wild Mushroom Ragout /Pome Demi Glacé I actually prefer bone-in short ribs, since you know you’d be getting the actual rib meat, however, it’s common nowadays in which they’ll just serve you chuck(beef shoulder meat), which is fine(and actually one of my favorite cuts), but I really wish they’d just call it(chuck roast, chuck steak, or pot roast) rather than«boneless short ribs» — which implies that the meat has really been taken off the bones. However, it was really disappointing to see that it was clear that it was a piece of chuck that was purchased as such. As a butcher’s son, I could tell from the striations of the beef that it was not directly taken from the ribs. That aside, the dish itself was pretty good in itself. Given that they were crowded and rushed, I was a little bit more forgiving with their«OK» service.

Tasty seafood place. We enjoyed the Seafood risotto. The appetizers are good too. We liked their calamari and clam chowder soup — nice and creamy version of it.

This place used to be a favorite of my family several years ago and I’m sad to say it seems to have gone downhill. The appetizers were okay, but they didn’t mix my drink properly(forgetting ingredients) and the 26 dollar halibut that my mother had for lunch was such a disappointment that it overwhelmed the mediocrity of the drinks and the appetizers completely. It was plated sadly on top of a few green beans and two cherry tomatoes sliced in half. The halibut had no texture it was literally mush, definitely previously frozen and either defrosted improperly or cooked improperly, either way it should not be on the menu if it can’t be cooked properly. Worst seafood dish I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant by far.

We finally hit a home run in Los Gatos. We had dinner on a whim at Steamer’s Spectacular food and excellent service. I had the linguini and clams and my girl friend had the Sea Bass. Along with that we had the house salad and clam chowder. First of all I am originally from the east coast where they know how to make good clam chowder. I just found my east coast connection in Los Gatos, AWESOME chowder. This set my expectations for the rest of the meal. we were not disappointed. The ambience is very nice and makes a good setting for a quiet date or having a business meeting. Steamer’s has made it into my top ten list. We will be back :)

Oysters! Delicious on a Thursday. Wine was excellent. Little Buddy had a dry sparkling rose a do had a Grenache rose. The Brut sparkles went better with the oysters. Next we got mussels, they were eh eh. The first one was stanky, the rest seemed fine because I dipped them in butter and put them on bread that is buttered. Waitress was cool, Kelly I think?! Ambience beautiful. Dessert was choc cake with vanilla ice cream, yummy. Next time I go for oysters and dessert will try crème brûlée as Kelly suggested. Overall 4.5

My bf and I were craving a good burger around here but didn’t feel like dining in a Los Gatos upscale fast food-like joint over-run with kids and noise. I found Steamer’s tucked around the corner from Elm St. Poifect! We decided to sit at the bar rather than at a table where it seems more formal. Our bartenders were friendly and somewhat attentive. Sitting behind the beer dispenser probably made us less noticeable. The burger between two slices of toasted Acme bread was excellent! It was cooked perfectly(medium-rare) with tomato, red onion and lettuce– juicy. The fries were also warm, perfect and fresh. In addition to the burger, we split, the steamed clams in lemon butter broth was the perfect dish to sop up with some bread. The clams were so fresh and plentiful. They brought us extra bread to dip. I could have sipped it like soup, but I don’t think I should be consuming such large amounts of butter. My bf enjoyed a couple artisan beers on tap. I enjoyed a glass of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Then, I moved to a refreshing ice tea. I’m inclined to repeat this experience.

Warm environment and awesome ambience. The food is always excellent, you get what you expect, delicious seafood! Great wine selection and best martinis in the Bay Area. There is something just so classic about this place and it keeps me coming back for more. For a solid meal, expect to pay $ 40 per person. Great local spot!

Always get the halibut for lunch it’s fresh great little pepper chutney always ask for extra and the green beans which I never eat are so good here I eat them all ! The people are nice and attentive place is always clean. Parking can be a pain but where isn’t these days. . Long time costumer and will continue forever !

As promised, I visited Steamer’s Grillhouse for dinner last night. I came in and was quickly seated and my server was Kenny. Kenny did a good job and was very attentive. So I’ve gone through and given the following ratings: Service — 5 Décor — 4 Food — 4 The bread came right away and it was fresh. It was a nice and crusty Italian bread. I would have preferred it to be hot, but otherwise fine. The tea was a USDA organic loose leaf. I can’t remember if this was what they served in the past. I prefer something like a Harney & Sons tea. However, the China Mist is better than most of the off the shelf. The fact that it’s USDA organic is a plus. Also, I note this time the server brought the entire choice of teas and allowed me to select what I wanted. He also left it on the table. That was a nice touch! I ordered the Swordfish. I have to say that the fish was outstanding. It was definitely fresh, well prepared and tender on the inside. It may well be one of the best Swordfish steaks I’ve had on the west coast. In summary, a much better experience. I think if they implemented the Navarro Grape Juice, upgraded the tea, and provided hot bread it would make a 5 star rating. The service was great and Kenny should be thanked. Cheers, Tim

***************************** 1417 *************************** I used to come here back in the day… I stopped coming because there is so many new places in Los Gatos to visit now and their food is not creative enough. If you want classic American food, this is a place for you. I used to enjoy their oysters, steamed clams, and the mussel dishes. The menu hasn’t changed much in years. It stays classic and old school food. I came back for lunch with a friend that’s a regular here. Since I’m still recovering from my surgery, my diet was strictly vegetarian for the last few weeks. Steamer’s Gillhouse lunch menu only offers salad as a vegetarian dish. I asked the server if chef can make me a pasta dish with just veggies and tomato sauce or olive oil. She said chef only has enough veggies for other dishes. That’s so sad, she didn’t even ask the chef before turned me down Another vegetarian dish was Grilled Cheese Sandwich with tomato which I ended up order it. Our server was attentive, she refilled our water and checked in with us a few times during lunch. So if you are vegetarian or vegan, don’t come here for lunch.

5 of us went out to a birthday lunch for my grandma. They didn’t seem happy about seating 5. We originally wanted to sit outside but were told we couldn’t. When we were seated, it took a little longer than normal to have our order taken. But when it was, the service was good, and the food amazing. We ended up staying for dessert. Just seemed like they are not very accommodating to large parties, and the time in between lunch and dinner.

Had a really great experience here with my mom! We started with the coconut prawns which were DELICIOUS. They were big and juicy and the perfect starter to split for 2 people planning on getting dessert later…:) Had a glass of Chardonnay from La Rochelle, which I’m not sure if get again just because of the strong end note it had, but not horrible. My mom had a great red blend that is totally get again, it was delicious! THEBREAD. ERMAHGERD. It’s so soooo goood. Squishy, fresh bread with the perfect crunchy crust. The sea bass was fresh and deliciooooous. I was missing a little of that tomato taste, I would’ve loved more actual tomato to go with the fish, but the flavors were great! TRUFFLECAKE. That lava cake was the perfect ending for two people to share. Nothing crazy creative, but a good classic. Also, our server was really attentive without being overwhelming or overly enthusiastic(you know what I mean… fake-waiter-happy haha). The only thing I think that could’ve been slightly better is my mom mentioned that we were out for her birthday… but nothing really came of it. I kinda wish he had taken the extra step to, I don’t know… put a candle in our dessert or something haha. The prices, I have to say, are a bit expensive considering the items, but it’s los gatos I guess? Still though. Probably would only go back here for nice occasions vs casual dinner. I think the 3.5 rating for this place is accurate!
