DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR IF YOU DO NOT WANT A CONTRACTOR THAT WON’T BAIL ON YOU LAST MINUTE AFTER 2 MONTHS OF SAYING HE WANTED TO DO THE JOB. We called Hoss about installing a gas line for our fire pit almost 2 months ago now. When he came out and met with us, he seemed great and we really liked him. We have been working with a paver company as well to install pavers and a fire pit, but needed someone to install the gas line. Hoss said he could do this when he came out and gave us an estimate and we have been corresponding with him ever since about it. He asked us to go out and do a lot of leg work answering multiple questions he had with the work as well as us doing all of the leg work for the permit. He did not want to do it himself even though many of the other contractors said they would do it themselves. We still had wanted to go with him as his price was reasonable and in person we had liked him best. When he was out doing the estimate, he gave us an estimate for putting in new grass as well and said that he preferred if we could use him for more than one job. We decided that his estimate was reasonable and that we would add the grass in to make it a bigger job for him as well. We thought this would be a good thing as he mentioned that it would be better for him if we did more than just the gas line. However, after we asked him about adding the grass, he wanted us to do a WHOLE LOT MORE leg work for that too. So we found a sod vendor as he had asked and we looked into dump sites as he asked and we found out about delivery fees for the sod as he asked. Not sure why he couldn’t have done any of this work, but anyway we did all of that. Now that we did all of this leg work, we emailed Hoss to let him know everything that he had asked us to do was done this morning, at which point he responded saying he could no longer do our project with zero explanation as to why. My husband emailed him back asking if he was referring to the grass we had added in or the gas line as well. He responded saying «the whole project». Still NO EXPLANATION as to why. My husband then emailed him back again asking why he even gave us the quote and had previously said he could do the work if he did not want the job. At this point, we had been working out all of the details with the pavers and fire pit company and were counting on Hoss to do the work. We would have met with other contractors over the last 2 months if we had known that Hoss was going to bail on us last minute. Hoss responded to this saying «The timelines will not work for me due to unforeseen circumstances». This is when I actually responded instead of my husband. I told him that firstly, we had not given a timeline for the project yet so I have no idea how he could tell us that his timeline did not work with ours. We had been more than willing to work around his timeline. I told him that it was extremely unprofessional to bail on us after 2 months and all of the leg work we had done for him over the last 2 months. Especially with NO EXPLANATION as to why. He then responded saying «Would you like to pay my wages and travel expenses for a job in York Town that has been doubled? This is just how the job works. And therfore I can’t meet your timeline of starting at the end of this month.». At this point, I responded saying that we had never said that we definitely needed to start the project at the end of this month. This whole process of planning has already taken a few months, we would have had no problem with waiting another week to a few weeks if Hoss needed that to work with his schedule. However, after this whole experience with him this morning, I would NEVER work with him. And I highly recommend that no one else does either. He will ask you to do a whole lot of leg work, give you quotes and say that he will do your work only to bail on you last minute. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS CONTRACTOR. This has been the worst experience I have EVER had with a contractor.

Hoss Viramontes gets the job done. He is very reliable and gets repairs done in minimal time. he returns phone calls unlike some contractors. i had him fix my fence repair, bathroom leak, dry rotted window and sprinkler repair.
After talking to two other contractors he was the only one willing to he work under my crawl space and repair a leak. He charges a fair price. i recommended him to a couple of friends.
