Right at the entrance of Chinatown, Yan’s Gifts has an array of popular Chinese theme gifting and decorative items. You will get quoted a price; be self-assured that you can haggle. Cash is best.

The feng shui supply shop of LA! Nicest people, huge selection and great prices. Go on Sunday morning, no traffic, street parking and no crowds. Love this place!

Needed to get 60 parasols for my brother’s outdoor wedding tomorrow. Checked out Unilocal reviews and headed to Chinatown. Stumbled upon Yan’s while comparison shopping and found the same parasols that they had at Oriental Palace for $ 3.50. Price was listed at $ 5, at Yan’s, but he offered them to me for $ 3 since I was buying in bulk. Needed multiple colors. He went to the back and got me 10 each in 6 different colors. Very helpful and accommodating. Would recommend that everyone get their parasols here!!!

All your Feng Shui items are located here! Cheaper than online. Owners are very nice too! The lady is very knowledgable in Feng Shui for the meanings of all the items. The only thing missing is Chinese art.

Yan’s has been around for as long as I can remember. A kitschy gift shop in a popular part of Chinatown. Need to send some gifts home from you visit to Los Angeles? Grab Asian parasols, costumes, and lucky bamboo galore. Not the cheapest place on the block, but quick and easy to navigate through since most of their items are outside… and you can easily haggle them for a discount, too.

Bf and I went to Chinatown today to see the end of the Chinese New Year festival. Bf had never been to LA’s Chinatown before(well, except for the short drive thru town when we were escaping from the LA Food Truck Fest) — and I don’t remember being here since maybe I was 10-ish. I know, what the hell kind of Chinese person am I? We walked down Broadway and suddenly saw Yan’s — ok more specifically, plastic carriers with pairs of teeny quarter-sized turtles outside the store. OMG — SO cute! I think they’re baby red eared sliders, and they are DARLING. I know that technically, they are too small to be sold because the fear is that kids will put them in their mouths. But bf and I can control ourselves — we’ll wait til they get meatier to eat them. LOL, I’m kidding!!! Right now, they’re in the fishbowl we put them in, happily paddling around and sticking their necks out at us. Cute little babies! I’ve seen these turtles in San Gabriel at some ginormous supermarket store, and they were el cheapo there — $ 10 for a pair. But at Yan’s they were EVENCHEAPER — $ 5 for a pair! I swear, I am making my bargain-hunting Chinese mother SODAMN proud today. It might make up for all the times I brought shame to family in my raucous teens :).
