This place is A-OK. It has a B food rating, and the service was touch and go, but man, that red curry was really, really good. And they are chintyz with the meant, either. So I would totally go again, but I think I would get take out next time.

Food always reliable, and always tasty, service always accommodating. Low-oil stir fry for the wife? Done. «Thai Spicy» duck salad for my steel-gutted son? Done. Been eating there for a decade+. «Dining ambiance»? Maybe not so much, but fine in light of the prices. Just wish they stayed open later.

I ordered the red curry with chicken. It wasn’t great. The texture of the chicken was weird, and the curry itself had way too many bamboo. There is plenty of parking, and the price wasn’t bad. Service was extremely slow considering there was hardly anyone there. I wouldn’t compare the service to walking on a pink cloud, but they weren’t rude. Just sort of down to business… did I mention the wait time? What can I say there was nothing about this place that stood out, and the food wasn’t great.

Been here twice now, and both times was very happy with the food and service. Staff is friendly and food comes out fairly quickly. Portion size is good, plenty of options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Situated in a strip-mall with plenty of parking spaces.

I live in San Diego, but every time I come to LA I’m craving the food from Yai’s. My every time favorite — pineapple shrimp fried rice, veggie egg rolls, snow pea with tofu and garlic, and pad tai khon kha. Service is fine, food is great. This place is best Thai food for me. Always bring my friends here, and people really like it :)

Snow — peas with Tofu and Garlic are sooo delicious. My friend ordered Shrimp Fried rice with Apple which was really good too. Their menu vary and can fit any tastes like seafood or meat, also vegetarian. Please, check this place out. There’s very clean and polite service.

Lunch on Wednesday, 9÷2÷15 Parking is abundant since they share a lot with many other stores. Ambiance is very casual. Don’t expect much from their service. We were seated near the front of the restaurant and they rarely came by. Food was mediocre. I ordered a lunch special with roasted pork, Chinese broccoli, and rice. I’ve also tried their pad thai and pad see ew on previously visits. Nothing worth noting. It’s average tasting. It’s a place to grab a fix of Thai/Chinese food if you’re in the area.

I was in the area with my homegirl, we were both in the mood for Thai and decided to check it out. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot, and although it was kinda full for the dinner hour, we were still able to get a spot nearby. As we walked in, we were immediately seated. I always get my usual, tofu Pad See Ew while my friend Jess M got her favorite, the Pok Tak soup. The servers were polite and quick to take our order and our food came out pretty quickly as well. My plate was alright, but it tasted very oily, and I’ve had better pad see ew. The place looks very clean, and its also pretty big, good for groups!

Good food. In the plaza between a Rite Aid and a Sally’s. I’m also a fan about the fact they close at 10pm on almost every night My favorite is the Pok Tak soup. It’s big enough to share w 2 – 3 people.

Love this place! Wouldn’t go anywhere else for Thai food! Service is great! Food is amazing! The roasted pork with Chinese broccoli is licking plate good! The curry is insanely flavorful. The BBQ beef is soooo good. If you’re hungry for good Thai food and IFyou’re like me that quality verses quantity matters. This is your place! I highly recommend it!

Yai is an old American diner currently serving Thai fare. The restaurant is unnecessarily huge, perimetered with bright orange booths that were such an eyesore. On a Monday night, it was quiet as crickets(4 diners including us) and it felt sad and lonely. SOMTUM – pretty solid but WITHOUT essential PEANUTS. They do UPHOLDTRUETHAISPICYLEVELS here so watch out! We ordered a «zapp»(spiciest level) and our tongues were on fire. Shame on us. BEEFNAMTHOK – as reported from bf «POORMEATQUALITY and overall NOTTASTY.» SEAFOODRARDNA – considering how much I missed rard na, this was DELICIOUS and fulfilled my noodles-in-sauce craving. It came with SHRIMPS, FISHCAKE, and SQUID. The noodles were slightly sweet, soft, and seared and the gravy was not too thick and FLAVORFUL. I was in heaven. The AFFORDABLELUNCHSPECIALS is what attracted me to Yai’s, even though we had dinner. It’s still affordable but for the quality of the food, I would go elsewhere.

We ordered a medium and mild combination fried rice. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a difference in spice level. Fortunately, we ordered panang curry and it’s the best I’ve ever had. It’s delicious and comes with lots of meat and veggies. Other Thai restaurants I’ve eaten at don’t serve as meaty portions. The thai tea was delicious as well. :)

I was craving Thai food and I wanted to try some place new so we went to Yai’s Pros: 1. Food is excellent. 2. Price is good. 3. Parking is free and easy to find. 4. Nice flat screen tv Cons: 1. Service is just ok. The staff do not smile or greet you courteously. They sat us quickly and seemed very rush rush with everything. They never checked on us again after dropping off the food. We had to hunt a server down to get our bill and a to-go box. 2. It’s located in a small shopping strip off of Vermont. Not the fanciest area of Hollywood, but typical for Thai town. I would visit this place again for a quick meal when I’m rolling solo, but not with a group.

*Click clack click clack* went my super high heels. What was I thinking wearing these heels and wobbling into Yai’s Resturant? This place is totally casual, but I was in the mood of dolling up. :) Upon entering, we were greeted right away, and seated into a comfy booth. *Plop Plop* went the menus as they were set gently in front of us. Guess what? They finally got new menus! Yay! Before you know it, the china will be new as well. Don’t be quick to judge: the chipped china. Regardless, this is the best Thai food in L.A. We ordered the usual and our favorite: 1) Pok Tak Soup: a sour lemony soup, with loads of seafood(fish, shellfish, imitation crab, shrimp, lobster legs). 2) Pad See Ew: Thick noodles with shrimp. 3) Thai Teas: Best in L.A. 4) 1 cup white rice(enough for 2 people). Food was fresh, hot, and amazingly delicious! Service is always great! I’ve been coming here for about 4 years now, and it’s kinda like home. –Parking is shared with Rite Aid and Jons plaza. –Order medium heat if you like spicy. –Call in your order, for pick up. –TV: you can ask them to change channel! –Restrooms: clean.

Happy Halloween! :D This might be a long one! But that’s because there are EIGHT dishes to get into, and that’s not including other miscellaneous details! Yai’s will definitely surprise you. It’s located in a large outdoor plaza, PLENTY of parking, the lot is enormous, so the access couldn’t be any easier. As soon as you walk in, attendants joyously greet you and you can pretty much sit anywhere you’d like. It was a Sunday afternoon, and my family and I had arrived to a frighteningly empty restaurant. The cute server with the Dora the Explorer haircut was so friendly and got our orders for all eight dishes down diligently to the T and accurately made notes of the«Chicken, pork, beef or tofu» and«How spicy» preferences for each dish, and she was very patient about it. You’ll also notice some Halloween décor, and I really appreciate it when small businesses take the time to participate in the festivities, especially when the cuisine isn’t American :) Empty was the restaurant, so the food came out quick one after another, like boom, boom, boom! You might want to note that there is a LOT of flavor in each dish, it may burn out your palate. —Chicken Pad See Ew. My brother’s favorite Thai dish. Not only was the portion generous, but the ratios were surprising. It must be acknowledged. HUGE chunks of Chinese broccoli cooked very thoroughly, yet crunchy and wasn’t overcooked nor undercooked. Lots of chicken in there and the noodles were also cooked well and slightly al dente, yum! They could’ve gone a little easy on the sauce, but no big deal. It was still really delicious. —Papaya Salad. I feel a little indifferent about this one, because I haven’t had it too often, so I’m not sure if the over usage of lime juice was intended. It was too sour to eat alone, not so much refreshing. It was crunchy, though. —BBQ Beef. Before you dig in, be sure to go easy on the chili sauce that comes with. Thinking it was a spicy dip, I soaked the hell out of that sliver and good gawd I wish I hadn’t done that. It’s SUUUPER sour and your face will involuntarily resemble the mascot of Warheads candies. The beef was slightly dry, but it was edible and still was on the tender side. The flavor was good, but not all too memorable. —Combination Seafood Plate with Basil. My grandmother loves seafood. I’m not big on it, so I didn’t have any, but she devoured into them with zero complaints. And considering she’s someone who WILLNOT let any criticism go unheard, she was very satisfied with the dish. As shown in my photo, you’ll find mussels, clams, calamari, shrimps, fish, imitation crab, and some strips of greens here and there. —Pork & Sausage Fried Rice. Wow, bursts with flavor! Slightly sweet, a bit too oily. Rice was well prepared, pork was good, and I really liked the sausages. It’s a little similar to Taiwanese sausages and again, super flavorful. Must take a sip of water. It wasn’t salty or anything, there was just too much going on also because of the… —Red Curry with Coconut Milk and Beef. Extra Spicy. Of course, no hint of kick, but I expected that. This is was my absolute favorite of the bunch. Mmm, where do I begin! For $ 8.95 this is such a bang for your buck. I’d order it even if the price was higher. The curry was ultra savory and creamy, slightly tart and tangy, bamboo slices were crunchy, beef was pleasantly tender, and it wasn’t overly salty. Pair it with some rice, and don’t be too hard on yourself for finishing the entire bowl(It is a very huge portion, though lol). —Deep Fried Pork with Chinese Broccoli. Definitely the least favorite of all. Like the Pad See Ew, the Chinese broccoli were cooked very thoroughly, still crunchy. I highlight that, because I have braces and usually can’t bite into anything too tough, but I had no difficulties with it. The pork, on the other hand, was pretty bad. It was really dry, zero moisture, and wasn’t tasty. —And finally, the Tom Ka Gai Soup. With pork. Extra spicy. Again, no kick, but that’s okay. This might’ve been the sourest dish of all. Eek, but it’s like a punch you’re willing to take, yanno? I don’t know, maybe I’m just a masochist, but even though it was TOO sour(maybe a little bit painful) I liked it a lot and, the soup was very satisfying… almost addicting. Didn’t love the pork. It was too dry, but the soup was delicious enough by itself to say that I liked it overall! One dish didn’t outshine the other, because each one had something good to offer, so I think that is another good reason to go back :)

I think the worse thing about Yai’s is it’s location. Being in a strip mall plaza, a really awkward and pretty lame one at that, just sets off the tone on a not so good note. If you can look past the location, and then past the bad décor, this place is actually pretty decent. The food here is consistently good, nothing special, though I must say that their Thai iced tea is better than most. The worse time to come here is during the lunch rush!

I’ve been here three times but I forgot what I ordered. I know it wasn’t that bad because if it was, I would not come back. Recently, I ordered the Thai BBQ Chicken, a side of brown rice and Thai Ice Tea. :Food: The Thai BBQ Chicken was really dry, the skin was mushy and soggy. I had to pick out the good pieces and it didn’t taste like Thai BBQ Chicken. The brown rice was not cooked well, some pieces were hard. ( ) :Rating: Since I’ve ate here before and I don’t recall disliking it, I am giving this place 3 Stars. I am also considering how the inside of the restaurant was’t very clean and when I was walking towards the front entrance it was dirty. It seemed like there was a pile of trash and there were pigeons picking at it; it didn’t give me a welcoming feeling. If I only ate the Thai BBQ Chicken, I would give a rating of 2 Stars. :M’s Notes: ~Lunch Special($ 6.95) is Monday — Friday from 11:30am to 3pm.
