X bar is good to meet a business associate who does not need to pay for parking. I work in century city and sometimes my co workers want to hang out after work. Well, this bar is just dead all the time. Well, dead unless they are hosting a corporate or attorney bar association event. We’ve had some great times crashing those. I guess this bar serves a purpose as part of the hotel and to meet a client. So it’s fine. They give free wasabi peanuts. Not my thing. Drinks are overpriced unless at happy hour when they have a decent seal on appetizers. So overall it’s a good place for what it is.

I was planning to meet up here with friends… and then I got my dates crossed and ended up drinking at bar alone. But at least here’s another review out of that situation. Located in the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, parking(as you can imagine for all locations in Century City) is pretty bad. You’re pretty much regulated to the city garages that charge an exorbitant fee for a short time. Or you can park in the hotel garage for like…$ 30. No thanks. Anyways, I arrived to a fairly quiet bar even for a Wednesday night in a hotel. Perhaps because of the slow crowd, I didn’t have a bad experience with the bartenders as others had posted about. The bartenders were courtious, and would come to check on me every 10 minutes or so. From the general atmosphere though, I could tell that this would not be a place that I would like to hang out with on the regular. The décor reminded me of «swanky hotel bar» from«random movie». There wasn’t any personality here, and the look was completely different from the hotel it was in. The patio looked big and nice, but being from LA and generally weary of people, I tend to avoid outdoor drinking areas. The menu was small, and not overpriced. But I didn’t feel like there are a lot of options for finger food to share with a group. It was definitely more«finger food for just you.» The prices at the bar were pretty decent, but I purposely arrived for happy hour to avoid any of that. I can only guess that the price of my Stella or a vodka/soda makes a significant jump once the clock strikes. Maybe it’s just because I’m biased against places that look like they were built to shoot a scene from a movie, but X Bar is just not my speed. It seems there are many people that are into, and can dig the décor and location, but that person is just not me.

Nothing on the menu really enticed us, and the bartender didn’t seem to want to stop flirting with the other bartender long enough to talk to us about what was good and what wasn’t. So we just ordered drinks… which again… he didn’t seem to really want to have a conversation about. So we just grabbed one round and went and sat outside by the fireplace, had a nice chat, and went up to our rooms. Wouldn’t come back to this bar, and probably not the hotel. If you’ve ever stayed at the W Westwood or even better, the W Hollywood, you know how bartenders are supposed to act and drinks are supposed to taste at a four star hotel. This was sub-par.

My husband and I were out celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary. We had just got done with dinner and went to walk around. We didn’t quite find the bar we were recommended but stumbled upon this place. It seemed nice and I thought the intro on the floor saying«bar» was direct and funny. We walk in and it’s empty. I suppose it’s to be expected at 9pm on a Saturday night. I get that we aren’t the most entertaining people but I was attempting to be friendly and make small talk with the bartenders. There were 5 of them and the only time someone talked to us was to take our drink order and then to close out. I tried to make the joke about it still being early for people to be out and one just looked at me like I was dumb and very shortly just said«yea» and went back to looking on his phone. The drinks were ok, but we were disappointed because it was where we were ending our evening but by far the worse service we had all night.

The bar itself is nice but that’s where it ends. Service was nonexistent. The entitled bartender was a major sour puss and literally approached us like«what do you want» and had a very poor attitude to the point I wanted to leave him a 0 tip. He’s lucky I even gave him something. This experience alone is enough for us to never patron this place again. TIPTOMANAGEMENT — clean house and hire staff who have better people skills so they don’t chase away customers. Also, what’s with the ridiculous prices? $ 18 for vodka/cranberry and $ 11 for beer? OMG! I arrived starving so had a quick glance at the menu and ordered crab cakes as soon as a server came up to our table. They were delivered and I took a ravenous bite only to find a hard, thick slab of BACON in the crab cake slider! YUCK! My bad for not reading the menu more carefully, so I tried the artichoke — YUCK, all watery and soggy, weirdest serving suggestion I’ve ever encountered. Thankfully the Tune Tartare was amazing — that is all I ate. Whatever, do all your fancy combinations and new processes but there is nothing like JUSTGOODFOOD! The service was good. It was a one off visit for me, out of my neighborhood but I won’t be going back anytime soon…

Why«X» bar? Where is a «X» coming from? X-lovers, X men, X– rated, or maybe XX kiss kiss… what else? Wherever it came from, I like it. I do like that somewhat sexy name. The décor was cool. Classy, sexy, and sensual. There were three different sections: a bar, a large nice lounge area next to the bar with chic comfy couches, and booth seating with red lighting. The color of the lighting was not just red, but the Geisha red. Very alluring. There was also outside patio seating. Several circle-shaped fire pits were having nice and big fire flame and 6,7 chairs were placed around the pits. Although this was not a rooftop, the patio was surrounded by the office buildings in Century City, and was offering the nice city view. We sat outside and I ordered Martini. I could feel the heat on my cheeks from the fire pit and was getting warm, but I wasn’t sure if that was from the flame or my dirty filthy martini. We went inside to the lounge as raindrops started falling on me. The couch was wide and comfortable. My martini was made just like the way I liked, which was very very dirty. The service was great. Our waitress was pretty and pleasant. No reason at this point that I don’t come back here for good cocktails. 4 stars.

Came here for a birthday event. Overpriced and weird location. Nice space in itself but not the trendiest spot in the world. If you’re going to pay these prices, better to go somewhere else. and parking situation was AWFUL just FYI.

Amazing indoor /outdoor bar at the Hyatt Century Plaza — have been to several happy hours here with groups ranging from 2 – 30 guests. I love to sit outside and watch the sun sink behind the palm trees, but a good alternative is also the various nooks and booths they have inside which give the bar a more intimate feel. Service has always been very gracious, and the food and drinks are excellent! I recommend the crab cake sliders(or any sliders really) incredibly delicious, come in sets of 3. Great for sharing.

I came here for a friend’s birthday and found this place to be pretty disappointing. Its Century City and pretty much condo/hotel/business block so you will most likely need to valet. Make sure you get validation so that you get the first 4 hours for $ 8. The bar itself its pretty cool, nice large fire pits outside. It was hot as hell so must of us spent the evening outside. The music was jamming and the songs were good but no one was dancing. The bar had one bartender and he was slammed and very visably frustrated. Looks like they had not planned for such a large group of people to be there and hadn’t staffed properly. Everyone was trying to get a drink and he just seemed like he was in the weeds and barking back. The food and drinks seem to be super over priced. $ 13-$ 15 for a single glass of wine. The food was even more. I mean the vibes were cool the place looked cool but for the price the service was definitely lacking. I would think they could pull someone from the kitchen or anywhere else to help the bartender.

Staying at the hotel for a couple of weeks so have been in the bar numerous times. Drinks are inconsistent… very much depends who makes it to see what it will taste like. I’m talking about a mojito. Pretty simple. Food is good. Staff is poor. In this industry, staff should not group together chatting for periods of time at the bar in front of customers. This happened on 3 occasions while I was one of several customers at the bar. In all of the times I ventured in there was only one friendly bartender. I’m not sure if there is poor training, poor hiring, or both. My suggestion is skip this spot if you can or buy drink and take it to your room, as I did.

I came here on a Thur. night for dinner. First off, the service here is terrible. It got so bad that in order to get my servers attention, I had to stalk her… really, not cool. I had the garlic fries and the Arugula flatbread, pretty basic. Not too many options for vegetarians. I definitely would recommend another spot like, BJs across the street.

Oh X Bar oh X Bar. I like X Bar. They have a nice outdoor area with two fire pits. They have an average menu and drinks but they have these wasabi peanuts that are just so tasty. If you’re feeling adventurous you should bring you’d bathing suit with you and sneak into the Hyatt’s jacuzzi. Bring your drink with you too ;)

I met a couple of friends for happy hour several weeks back and X Bar is definitely visually appealing upon entering, as the interior lighting and overall décor is more than inviting. Add an outside patio and you have the best of both worlds! Unfortunately that is as far as X Bar goes in terms of its allure. What makes it garner two stars is the fact that one does not get what they pay for should you expect top-notch service from a bar that is located within one of the areas most touted luxury hotels, even when deviating from the standard happy hour pricing, e.g., paying $ 20 for a martini. Furthermore, my close friend was completely ignored by the bartender and had to seek out another waitstaff after 15 minutes just to order a drink, but perhaps my friend’s attire was a bit too«rock n roll» and did not meet the bartender’s «serving standards», which is a big no-no in my book considering he is a paying customer. On top of the bartender’s negligence, the overall service was unreasonably slow and seemed more directed towards a group of conference attendees under the hotel’s standard corporate pricing plan. Yay for them? The food??? I was surprised by the lack of any freshness and their offerings reminiscent of a popular restaurant’s frozen appetizers from the supermarket = yuck unless you are starving(and you all know what I am referring to). Lastly, one would expect the servers to be dressed«elegantly hip» for such a venue however it appeared they were donned in the typical mundane corporate grade uniform — something I found unappealing considering CAA is just across the street. But then again, it seems that the entire business world no longer differentiates itself from one another and is being gobbled up by big corporations that ultimately«homogenize» anything in their wake in both personality and appearance. One positive, they validate parking = $ 8. Overall, X Bar is all skin and bones… little substance here — at least during happy hour.

The X bar is a fairly large bar inside the Hyatt. It has a decent bar area, booths, lounge chairs, and a large patio area. The bartenders and wait staff are really nice. It’s the bar all the investment yuppies in the area frequent. The food is decent and a step above the typical bar food. The happy hour specials are good relatively speaking for the area. In addition, they have a decent beer selection and probably only bar in Century City that has both Stone and Chimay. X Bar is even better when it’s on the company’s tab because I could order my Chimay and Hennessy XO shots. I don’t usually give a bar more than 3*, so 3* for this review is good. I would definitely come back here because it’s a walk down the street from where I work.

We celebrated my birthday and new job send off party at X Bar, it was my first time there and I loved it! I liked how there was casual seating inside and even outside with fire pits! Yes, the drinks and food here are pricey, but with a less noise and crowds you’ll think it’s with every penny! I liked the berry sangria and some of their appetizers(spicy chicken and buffalo chicken bites). If I’m ever back in West LA, I would come back to X Bar! Unilocal 100 Challenge 2013 — 48 of 100

This is a review for x bar happy hour only. Drinks & food here can be pretty expensive. I came here a few times for happy hr, and the crowd was… professional but more mature. Of course that’s expected of Century City… I would come back for happy hour if a company event was hosted here, but probably not on my own. The way x bar is designed is a one long room, sort of like a long rectangle — it doesn’t foster socializing, and the booths and tables only segregate people even more. I’d rather drink over priced drinks at Pink Taco.

Had one of the best times for happy hour here with one of my fave girls. Got a bottle of a provence rose and some snacks. Wasn’t super expensive. TV’s had on basketball, which seemed to be what most people there(primarily men, yippee!) were watching. So after we’re a little tipsy… we see that a local university’s business school alumni association has set up an event and everyone has name tags. Oh the things I do as wing woman for my girls… I went and nabbed us some name tags and scribbled out a couple random names. Then we reeeeeeeaaaaally had some fun. She didn’t get a date out of it, but was an enjoyable atmosphere and the bar itself is a cute spot. Parking was validated valet(hotel parking)

Nice place to grab a drink for a business meeting or happy hour with your friends. The martini’s are very strong, whew but very pricey! Nice place, love the lighting and the chill upbeat music that they play, I am looking forward to coming back soon and trying the lemonade which completely knocked me off my feet after about two and I am far from a lightweight :)

Drinks were good. Upon walking in, I saw people standing around… having fun laughing with group of friends~ and there were few drinking at the bar. There are also tables you can sit in… it wasn’t too crowded on a wkend night. Came here last minute, wasn’t dressed to impress but whatever… hahaha~ Outdoor patio was great, with heat lamps… also not crowded. Always pass by this hotel, and even came here for a convention months ago but never checked out X bar and did recently… I’d go back~ Valet is $ 8 with validation if you wanna know since it’s hotel parking~
