A Mexican bakery that also sells savory sandwiches and other lunch items. Nice selection of sweet breads and other pastries. Their jello cakes looked beautiful and had flower designs on them. 75 cent extra charge for credit card charges under $ 10! I got this Napoleon style pastry. Layers of Phillo dough and cream. Very light and delicious. $ 3 for my cake slice. They have hello kitty and Spider-Man decorated cookies! My friend tried the Spider-Man and he said it was tasty.

I asked a friend of mine where could I eat at 5AM without eating fast food and he told me the Venice Bakery. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect because I have never been there but it was nice to give the place a try. The Venice Bakery isn’t necessarily some sort of fancy place(nor does it claim to be), it’s gritty. It’s a place for blue collar workers such as myself to eat good tasting food for a cheap price. I walked in and was greeted by a kind employee that patiently took my order. I order one of each empanada, a breakfast burrito, and a small coffee. Now I am an avid coffee drinker so I would consider my palate to be somewhat refined in that area. There are well over 4 different coffee dispensers on a counter. I went with the columbian and of course I wasn’t wowed by it because of my fancy shmancy taste preference. But It’s not for the taste, it’s for the eff you caffeine fix. While I waited for my burrito I took a bite of an empanada and it was very good! Nice and flaky and the meat was bold and flavorful on the inside. All qualities of an empanada that everyone enjoys. I took the burrito home with me and it tasted very good as well. I basically inhaled it though because I was in a rush and was very hungry. But throughout my entire shift that day I sure as hell wasn’t hungry. Now I do have one gripe. When I walked up to the cash register I saw an employee setting the pastries out from the baking trays and those baking trays looked pretty god awful. Though there was a paper that separated the pastries from the metal, it still is no excuse. Bakeries should always clean their baking trays thoroughly, especially ones that look like they were pulled out from mount doom. So if there is an employee reading this of the Venice Bakery, spread the word that those trays should be scrubbed with metal sponges and blessed by the pope! Though those things may be minuscule to you it reflects poorly on your business and makes the customer wonder if the chefs adhere to cleanly food handling procedures.

This place is never disappointing! Best chilaquiles ever. Bolillos are delicious. Tortas are to die for and huge. I love how you can eat well under $ 10. Café de olla is really good. I recently discovered that they have salvadorian, guatemalan, and mexican tamales. The guatemalan tamales are to die for! Moist, big, filling and just $ 2.50 each! Service is super friendly.

After reading some of the reviews on Unilocal,my girlfriend and I decided to bike over to Venice Bakery & Restaurant to try out their breakfast menu. When we approached the entrance, we spotted a «B» rating from the County of Los Angeles Public Health Department. Not good. A quick check on the county’s website revealed that Venice Bakery received an 85 rating with a minor violation for«rodents, insects, birds, or animals» present in the establishment and MAJOR violation for«Hands clean and properly washed; gloves used properly». Gross. According to the online records, Venice Bakery also received a «B» in January of 2015 with violations for«Food contact surfaces: clean and sanitized», «Food safety certification» and«rodents, insects, birds, or animals». What is with this establishment not being able to consistently maintain an «A» rating? This is not Mexico. Simply unacceptable. Avoid.

I got a lot of love for the neighborhood Palms. I grew up in the neighborhood, went to middle school here and my grandparents are immigrants from Burma that have lived in on venice and midvale since the 70’s. One thing thing that always resonated with me, since I was a child, was the multiculturalism. From our neighbors in our apartment building, to just walking down the block since the 80’s for me, I have seen every race. ethnicity and religion on our block. This also reflects in the food in Palms. Venice Bakery is on point. Especially their breakfast! Its a down to earth, neighborhood spot. No hipster or yuppie bullshit. They got a nice outdoor area and seating inside if you want to sit and eat. As you eat, people will come in to get casual things, like coffee or pan dulce. I hope you support an old school spot, that reflects the vibe of Palms and LA as a whole.

This place served me one of the best breakfast plates I’ve had in a long long time. Everything was perfect. The omelet(tad bit to much green chili) with black beans was so good, and I never really like black beans. Plantains included, yummy! The Vanilla Latte, dayum! Totally recommend this place! Can’t believe I’ve never been there before, will definitely go back. Soon!

Wow. Just discovered this place for takeout/delivery. Food arrived hot, well packaged and early — doesn’t get better than that. And the food is generously portioned and delicious. Will definitely be a repeat customer. If they had even a limited selection from the bakery available to order for delivery, I would have been happy to order some pan dulce, etc. The owners should think about it.

On November 21st2015, I bought two tamales and other food from Venice Bakery & Restaurant. I placed my order to go. When I got home, I opened the tamales and saw that they were raw and uncooked. I called Venice Bakery to notify them that the food they sold me was not cooked properly. Check out the photos. The owner did not take my concern seriously and didn’t care about the health hazard. I have contacted the LA County Health department as this can be a sign of other problems. I received terrible customer service by the owner, when I brought this issue to her attention. Shame on her. This is how you lose your customers.

Came here for an early breakfast and I am glad I did. They are super nice and everything is fresh. They have entrees, juice, snacks, and pastries! Another big bonus is their hours, clearly they are workaholics Parking was terrible, but I overhead there is a parking lot behind. They make good use of their space and there is a decent amount of spacing. I picked up to go, but I constantly saw the waitresses go back and forth with smiling service. I got the torta which was packed quite generously It came with chips which I give props for giving to a Togo order. They was not much and a bit cold, but still good. Also got the plantain chips were amazing and even turn a few other people I shared them with into fans for the place. Can’t wait to come back and try the other food… and juices… and pastries… and did definitely more chips.

How this place got 4 stars shocks me. First of all the service sucks, the food tastes old and nasty and worst of all my dessert was infested with MOLD! First place I’ve ever gone to get food with mold in it! 4 stars ummmm… I have no clue and the place has flies flying everywhere. Yuck! Never going back!

This is my favorite neighborhood spot! They have the best empanadas and baked goods. In fact, they provide their empanadas to the bar next door, Big Foot West. Another cool spot! Their homemade plantain chips are very addictive. I always get a bag when I’m here. Everything I’ve tried here has been excellent especially their chocolate flan. I’d recommend everything on their extensive menu. Their service is friendly though it can be slow sometimes. Their food is worth the wait though! I like to walk here with my dog because they allow pets on the patio. It’s a great place to relax and people watch. If you’re nearby, stop by for a treat!

Stupid good. First timer, I saw how loved they were and now I know why. It was so good I might go back for dinner! FYI: I used Unilocal to order but they didn’t start making it till I had arrived. I don’t know if this a normal but next time up call in. I did have the time to wait, it was well worth it, and it weighed over 1 pound in sure.

Really?! Wow! I was looking for little bfast spot in Venice and happened to bump into this little gem. It felt very welcoming walking inside. They also have a little patio area should you want to sit outside. I ordered a Mexican breakfast torta(ham, chorizo, or turkey bacon) w black beans, sour cream, and cheese. I have to say it was delicious. Not to mention that they were kind enough to make one egg for my baby to eat. They also serve pan dulce(sweet bread), cakes, dessert and all kinds of other small treats! I forgot to mention, their brewed coffee was exceptional, not to mention that they had like 7 different brews. Customer service was fantastic, they were very attentive. Last thing, their pricing was more than fair for the amount of food you get on your plate. I will definitely be coming back. Parking is very easy to find.

Wow! Didn’t think I was going to like this place, was I wrong! Got here at 8 a.m. plenty of seating. Excellent customer service. We were greeted with a smile and served with a smile. Our coffee cups were never empty and our lovely server checked in on us several times while we were seated on the patio. The food was tasty. The eggs cooked to perfection. I asked for spicy chiliquilles, and boy, were they spicy(but not so spicy that I needed water) it was«Just right» spicy. The black beans were equally good. I wasn’t crazy about the plantains, it was a little too firm and not very sweet, it was more starchy like a potato. They served fresh bread with the breakfast which was great for sopping up the extra green sauce. Of course, we had to try the pastries. Our favorite was the Neapolitan. It was light, not overly sweet, the crust is tougher than most, but still good. The tres leche was also very light, not dry, and not overly sweet. I loved the flan center. It was very smooth. The guava cheese danish was just OK. I would have preferred a flaky crust as opposed to a doughy crust. It was good but not something I would order again. A con: there are no restroom facilities. After drinking all that coffee it was a problem. Next time, I’ll limit my fluid intake. Eating on the patio, though nicely shaded, clean and comfortable, the noise from the busy street can make it hard to have a conversation with your party. I would recommend giving this place a try. It is affordable, friendly, and good food.

This is a great place with affordable delicious pastries for a couple of bucks! Everything is made fresh in the morning and you pick them out yourself from a pastry cabinet so you know exactly what you’re getting. My favorite pastry is the guava pastry. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else. The tres leche cake comes in second. Their empanadas are amazings as well. They’re made to order and nice and hot when you get it. They don’t have parking but it’s in a residental area so it’s not hard to find parking.

I searched ‘breakfast burrito’ in Palms/Culver City and this place came up. At first glance, I just saw a simple bakery. When I clicked on their website I saw that they serve food here too. Andy had the breakfast burrito with chorizo and it was really good. In the beginning they serve you bread with three little sides: sour crème, red hot sauce and green hot sauce. I ate a good portion of his burrito with these sides. I ordered myself the Chilaquiles with eggs. I asked for it divorciados so they provided half with red sauce and half with the green sauce. It was good, but not great. The burrito was a lot better in my opinion. The best part about this place is their low pricing. Our total bill for breakfast came in at $ 18 which is quite cheap compared to what most are used to in West LA!

This place is GREAT for breakfast. Wow! There service here is super fast and speedy! Within minutes of sitting down, they’re already asking us what we wanted to drink. When we ordered coffee it came out fast! Their chilaquilles plate was delicious. And, I liked the beans here too! I’m not usually a fan of beans but I was for this place. I love that it’s not too crowded with people trying to get breakfast like other places nearby. I would gladly choose Venice Bakery any day!
