Ernie is the man! Pro tip: come in at opening time on a Saturday morning for easy in/out. Unlike most of the other shops on the street, they actually open on time. This was my first suit purchase and I was slightly intimidated but Ernie recognized that and helped me find what I was looking for without pushing me out of my budget. In fact, he threw in two matching ties with pocket squares — totally unexpected but very much appreciated. Also, the onsite tailor hemmed the pants in about 5 minutes for as many dollars — can’t beat that! I will not hesitate to come back for my next purchase.

I would give this shop 10 stars if Unilocal would let me. So, we needed a fine Italian 3-piece suit to costume an actor playing the young Martin Scorsese in our series Movieopolis. And you know how Scorsese dresses. He’s the son of Little Italy garment workers. Scorsese isn’t wearing any old suit. He’s tailored to the nines, even today. What a headache it was finding the right outfit to dress our lead who’s playing this fashion-conscious, meticulous film director. To make it worse, this television episodic is set in the Hollywood of 1971. I had it in my mind I wanted Marty to dress a little like Michael Caine in «Get Carter», if you’ve seen that film. If you have, you know how badass that 3-piece suit is. Western Costume had no leads and this was the first time I’ve ever seen that happen. Enter Max and the team at Tutto Italy. I was strolling the fashion district searching for the right shop, and several fabric outlets recommended their favorites, but when I turned onto Los Angeles Avenue, I was suddenly in the Little Italy of LA. Even better, just up the street, a Citizens watchmaker informed me the real Scorsese himself had been in, to get a prized retro watch replicated. Say no more. I walked into Tutto Italy and the problem was solved. I thought I knew what our actor’s clothing measurements were. But Max eyed me curiously and recited counter-measurements, correcting me. I was skeptical, but Max said, «And I will prove it.» Max then took out a fabric tape measurer, and it turns out he calculated the actor’s exact clothing measurements on sight, instantly, with Swiss accuracy, just by having me bring him in, then carefully looking at him. We found the right suit, Max and his fellow tailors marked and altered it, and… I’m stunned. It’s the best-looking business suit I’ve ever seen, and the actor tells me it’s the best he’s ever owned. I came out of there wanting a tailored Italian suit, and I’m a girl. Impressed, I took Max a pair of authentic denim flare jeans from 1971 and, armed with the actor’s thigh and knee measurements, asked Tutto Italy to taper the thigh to create a tight, genuine, androgynous cut for the actor. The results were breathtaking. The actor simply could not stop staring at himself in the mirror in amazement, and entire cast and crew were made speechless. This was a floppy, ordinary pair of Seventies jeans I took in there. They’re now cut with the kind of precision curves you see on a Ferrari. What can I say? If you want to look good, GOHERE. Max and Tutto Italy won’t let you down. We’re getting all of Sellino Films’s costuming tailored here… and I and the exec producer are interested in some personal gear done for ourselves! Hollywood has spoken! Get REAL tailoring at Tutto Italy: it’s straight up New York. If you’ve ever lived there, you’ll be homesick here. This is boulevard tailoring and alteration. Thanks Max!

Go here for your mens wear! I bought our groomsman’s, and my fathers suits here. We love them! Max, Ernie, and Louie worked hard to find the exact tie color I needed. Everything is beautiful! We will be back here for every special occasion. I also think they moved from this address, look for the big orange sign.

Wedding Vendor #3 for MSW — — — — — — — — — — — — — This shop is located in LA Garment District(Mens Suits section) Out of some 10+ odd stores we went into, this one was by far the best. Ernie assisted us in finding the perfect white suit(complete with vest, shirt and tie) for $ 99. We were in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes. Highly recommended :)
