Got the usual shrimp and pork dumplings(not going to even try to spell it in English) — they were pretty good, but they were a little harder than usual. The bbq pork bun was as expected, and the bread was soft. The curry beef bun was average and could’ve used a bit more flavor. I also got a large steamed chicken bun, but the chicken was still a pink/red. I didn’t want to chance eating any raw poultry :/ On the bright side, the egg tart was flaky and good.

I came here and was in a hurry, it’s great that there are already made items where you can pick and go under three minutes. Authentic! I would recommend this place if you are looking for great Cantonese snacks and drinks.

You get what you pay for and there is no better deal in LA for food. It’s not life changing but everything is good especial the BBq pork bun, shrimp dumplings, and the chow main with crispy noodles. Fast easy and friendly I highly recommend this place if you want dim sum and to be able to pay rent later in the month. There is free one hour parking on Yale street by the pacific alliance medial center.

Okay, not the greatest dim sum meal I’ve ever experienced but what would you expect from a fast food dim sum joint. The sign outside advertises them as being a Hong Kong dim sum place. I popped in here the other day for a quick breakfast. They served a variety of Chinese steamed and baked goods. I was really hankering for the steamed buns so I ordered a large chicken steamed bun for $ 1.30 which was a pretty good deal. It came with a mixture of chicken and pork and even had a little hard boiled egg inside which was a nice surprise. I also ordered a plate of the steamed dumplings called sio mai. The menu advertised them as being 4 for $ 2.50. I thought they were just average. I’ve definitely had better tasting sio mai before. These were a little firmer and weren’t as tender-tasting. It could be because they were not freshly steamed. Still, I enjoyed eating them. I also ordered a baked BBQ chicken bun. I thought the chicken filling was somewhat bland. I think it could have had a bit more flavor but since it was only $ 0.60, who’s complaining, haha! Anyways, it’s a really small casual spot but they do have two large round tables if you want to have a group meal with some friends. It’s cash only and the service is friendly. I’ll be back again.

Living in LA is great because we have such incredibly diverse options for cuisine that comforts a hangover like a mom nurtures a fussy baby. Okay, okay. I’m not that much of a scumbag. Tian’s dim sum to go is much more than just a panacea for a starving, cranky stomach after a nights of boozy celebrations. Bring your coworkers a box of delightful steamed pork buns and taro cakes from here and it’ll probably make their Friday. Their tasty little bites are legitimately good, hangover or no. I occasionally drop in here to pick up some of their dim sum and it’s consistently good. They often sell out of the pork shumai and the shrimp dumplings, but fear not, the meat and veggie dumplings are just as good — a little bigger and denser, and with tasty, crunchy veggies inside. The taro cakes are really delicious, dense, sweet, and smokey, even if you’re not a huge fan of taro. And the pork buns! Oh, the pork buns. At mere cents apiece, their takeout is a steal. You can get a delicious, hearty little breakfast here for $ 3. The ladies working here are very sweet, too. If they seem short with you, don’t take it personally. It’s probably just because there’s a line out the door behind you. Cash only, but there are ATMs all over the place in Chinatown.

This place is super friendly. The lady owner almost made a customer move to another table because he was by himself and we had a party of 4. Nice gesture of both people, that I love. I also liked that the price here is decent, for your quick eats. Dimsum items like Hagow and Shumai are $ 2.50 for 4. I also ordered a few other items like the egg tart, radish cake, and a bowl of won ton noodle soup. Everything is average but the won ton noodle soup, I’d have to say was below average. It uses the egg noodle soup, the soup base is a little bland, but the killer here was that there was a bone inside one of my six won tons. Not a small piece, but a rather large piece. I was just glad I got it and not my kid. Cash only. Seating is available. Best thing here for me was the steamed charsiu bao.

I don’t understand why this place gets good reviews. The dumplings are not terrible, but I don’t see how anybody could call them good. All the dumplings sit on racks and tend to be lukewarm, at best, when they serve them. Maybe you will be lucky and they will be fresh when you walk in but whenever I have gone around noon the dumplings are a bit stale and rubbery. If you are famished and desperate for a fast food dim sum meal and you want something really cheap, Tian’s is the place to go in Chinatown. Otherwise, pass on this place. It really amazes me that no one has opened a cool little fast casual dim sum joint in Chinatown.

So, I came here only to try the steamed pork buns and they were(surprisingly) quite delicious… Seeing as how this place looks a little sketchy from the outside, but just like the reviewers before me have said, «don’t judge a book by its cover.»

This is my go-to, pick-up-dim-sum-before-work joint. I usually pick up siu mai in large amounts, and it’s affordable and makes me very popular at work. Everyone always ends up asking me where I get it from! Their siu mai is on the better end, taste-wise. I believe you can get 3 for $ 2.50 or something like that. I once showed up before they«opened,» but they opened the door for me when I called. That’s service! The only downside is the parking. Sometimes that little crevice between the two buildings there is closed, and you can’t park on the surrounding street at certain times(e.g., rush hour).

Was craving dim sum and didn’t want to go through the trouble of flagging people down in carts so decided to come here. You just order your dim sum and it comes out so it’s not like a typical dim sum experience. If you’re looking for that, I suggest you go to an actual restaurant since their food will probably be better and you’ll get the full experience. The food here is just alright, but for its price, it’s considered pretty good. I think the ha gow and shu mai are pretty good. The sesame balls. were a no. They were cold and dry and did not taste right. BBQ Pork bun is also on point, and same with the xiao long bao. The corn soup was good but way too large. they should offer smaller portions(like pricing for 1 bowl) because we couldn’t even finish half of that giant bowl! Make sure you get a soy milk too, IT’S SODELICIOUS! I would’ve given this 4 stars but… I think there was something in the xiao long baos because my bf and I both napped for 4 hours after eating this. For some reason, we were extra sleepy and knocked out before we knew it, even after sleeping 9 – 10 hours the night before? It was weird because it kinda felt like we were drugged or something, idk exactly. I don’t know if this is the reason but there might have been something in the XLB that made us so sleepy. like msg? My friend told me that she can’t eat too many XLB’s(at other stores) because she always knocks out after since the soup is too concentrated for her… so maybe that could’ve been the reason too. Regardless, I’ve never had this problem at DTF or Mama Lu’s so idk what’s up with that. There’s not really a selection though, some very important things from dimsum are missing from the menu but I guess all the important ones are here. Come here if you want okay dim sum for cheap! Oh and the service is great. The lady in the front speaks perfect English so you don’t have to worry about that! Plus she’s really sweet about everything and you can ask her which dishes she’d recommend.

Parking in the back but you have to drive between the buildings. Meyer parking on street Cash only but very cheap I did take out In order of favorites: Beef curry bun Chinese tamale(had peanuts) Dan ta(egg custard tart) Pork bun(good amount of veggies in blend) Dumpling(had too much ginger for my palette) I know some Chinese but even I just pointed and used my fingers to communicate. They have tables to eat in house but it’s all dim sum style dishes.

Tian’s is a small hole-in-the-wall fast food dim sum bakery in Chinatown. It’s cheap, it’s fast and it’s pretty good. I mean, you really are getting what you pay for. The each piece of dim sum ranges from $ 0.65 — $ 1.25. This place serves its purpose for decent dim sum, although the selection is pretty small… It is a good place to stop by for a snack. The service is friendly enough. They will also heat up your food in the microwave for you, if you ask. There are several tables to sit down and eat. Overall, it’s an okay place to stop when you’re craving specific pieces of dim sum. BTW: There are a couple of parking spaces in a lot at the back of the bakery.

Excellent! Hot, fresh and tasty. Advantage? I’m a single and you can order your dim sum by the piece. I had the beef curry bun, a veggie egg roll, a shrimp dumpling and a veggie/meat dumpling. All of this for only $ 2.65 and I’m beyond stuffed.

Before haters tear this place a new one, I just want to say you get what you pay for and sometimes you just like things for what they are. And what Tian’s is not is a fancy chandelier-lit ballroom of a restaurant with crisp waiters rolling carts of delicate delicacies. It’s a teeny(yes, shabby and dingy) family-run hole in the wall with hella cheap dim sum that is delicious and amazing for the price. A huge meal for me and my girl costs like $ 10. Perfect for a couple of struggling 20-somethings. Why couldn’t there be a Tian’s near me when I was in college? If you’re more into«quality» food, this restaurant is going to squick you out. Also, I think a lot of wealthier/non-Asian/westernized Asian people might not be as into this place. I’ve heard many of those kinda customers mutter some uncomplimentary things under their breath as they sample the food. Something about weird textures or things that taste too«pork-like». Buddy, you’re in Chinatown. Go find yourself a Panda Express. If you’re into«bad» street food in your motherland Asian country and your guilty pleasure is greasy junk food, you’ll appreciate Tian’s. The lady here is also SUPERNICE to me and my SO, too. She recognizes us now and even gave us a complimentary rice cake. This place is one of my favorite restaurants but I warned you!

Was in the area sipping on some refreshing Iced Green Tea and wanted a fried snack to munch on. Called a few places around shopping for prices for Egg Rolls, GIGO’s Café on Broadway wanted to charge $ 6 for 4 pieces! And here I thought Chinatown was home of cheap foods. A few places we walked into didn’t even have Egg Rolls, thought that was awkward for this part of town. I happened to call this place up and the woman asked how many pieces I wanted, knew that was a sign she was ready fry them up fresh. We headed here immediately and for $ 0.55 a piece they went out of their way to fry up 6 Veggie Egg Rolls for a grand total of $ 3.30! Half the price of Gigo’s and extremely fresh & crisp. She was so kind, was very polite even though we were only spending a few bucks! Thought that was very kind of her for being so welcoming instead of throwing attitude for barely purchasing anything. Definitely recommend them for egg rolls as I can’t vouch for anything else.

I was in Chinatown so I wanted some Dim sum. This place was very close to where I was at so I went in. I ordered like 5 or 6 different items and only paid $ 3.40 Now that’s what I’m talking about. Dim sum was interesting but nothing really appealed to my taste buds.

When in Chinatown and looking for a place for a cheap, filling and quick bite look no further! It’s not glamorous but it’s certainly local and I love how it’s within walking distance from FCBC! For less than four dollars I got four siu Mai, one radish cake and one dumpling. They also have delicious buns for around .60! The main items are out behind the donut shop styled display case and there is some seating inside for you to eat or just take to go. I love the simplicity of the place and the food for the price is good. I wouldn’t come here specifically to eat dim sum, yum cha café has more selection and ocean seafood has the traditional setting but this is a local favorite and is a great option when in the area.

Tian’s is super convenient for those days when you want dim sum but don’t want to sit in a fancy, tablecloth-ed, chandelier-ed room and wait for carts with your desired delicacies to roll by. Here, you just point to what you want behind the clear counter, and she’ll heat it up for you. This is the problem, though. I went at around 2:00 so I’m not sure if this holds during busier times of the day, but she had to microwave our food to heat it up. This didn’t really faze the shumai or the cha siu bao much, but it turned the turnip cake into a gluey mess and the potstickers into cardboard-edged monstrosities. I do have to say that the shumai are delicious and so is the turnip cake, gluiness and all. The cha siu is just fine — not overly sweet like so many are — but the dumpling is forgettable. They’re really nice in there, it’s REALLY cheap, and I’m happy to have takeout dim sum in the area, so if I find there’s a time when the stuff is fresh and doesn’t need a microwave, I’ll probably add a fourth star.

This cute little shop was the only thing open in Chinatown at 7am when I was too early for my bus at Union Station. Thank God! We went up and down the streets thinking ‘Oh of course Chinese places would be open at 7:15! They want business!’ but no. we only saw Tian’s open and what a great decision it was to get some breakfast here Everything is SUPERCHEAP! And I don’t think you can go wrong. As we sat there eating our buns and congee, more and more kept coming out. omgg… droooool They have a wide variety of pineapple breads with different fillings, the usual bbq pork buns, sweet rolls, egg tarts, rice rolls, etc etc. And they’re around 65cents each. WHAT A DEAL! We got 2 century egg congees(century eggs were cut up super small though.), rice roll, bbq pork bun, dumpling, and one other thing all for less than $ 5. If only I lived closer to Chinatown, I’d be coming here every single day. It seems like a lot of locals come here too because we saw a lot of grandpas sippin their coffees and reading the newspaper like it was a daily ritual If you’re ever in Chinatown and need a quick bite, or want something to take home, come here! It’s not really the same as dim sum you’ll get at a restaurant, but it gets the job done. I’d think of it more as a take out place though. They also have a microwave where they can heat up the buns if you want. We came when they were pretty fresh, so wasn’t really necessary
