Decided at the last minute to try their menu, lots of choices on the menu, which was definetly worthwhile. Wow ! The ambience is low key with the background noise an NFL game. Ordered at the bar which was smart on a nite like this, lots of fans. I had the shrimp salad which was very tasty along with a Marg. Great service, very clean. I would recommend this place with 5 Stars! Classy!

L.A.M.E. Came in for drinks+food and to watch the Kings Game and they turned off ALL TVs at 9:30!!! We were completely shocked because there was a basketball game on the other TV’s that UCLA reserved tables came to see, and the guy just walked around to every single TV and turned all of them off. Our game had 3 minutes left :(SORUDE!!! If we’re spending $ 70 for dinner and drinks at a place that touts tons of TV’s, it would be great if we could actually finish the game we came in to watch. Its a shame too because we’re locals and have come here for happy hour as its walking distance. DONOTCOMEHERE if you want to watch a game or sporting event. Still in shock over how RUDE this was.

Really enjoyed The Woodman. Went on a Sunday night with my hubs. It’s our cheat night, so we ordered alllll the yummies. Veggie cheese fries, bacon wrapped shrimp, crispy chicken sliders and a burger. Everything was so so yum!!! For such a plain thing, the chicken sliders with strawberry jam was delicious. Our service was great despite having to ask twice for each refill on my husband’s soda. The Margarita I had was strong and super tart which I love.

Cool place to watch all the PPVUFC events!(No cover) It gets crowded during fight nights and most tables are usually reserved. If you come in early you can get some of the available small tables for two(they don’t allow reserving all of the small tables). Great food, fair prices on drinks, and they have connect 4 games available. Great atmosphere and people are usually cool.

Food was good not great. Service wasn’t good at all. We waited around for the longest time for our waitress, We got one drink during happy hour and some appetizers. our glasses were empty for 20 minutes and then happy hour was done. The waitress finally came around and since happy hour was over we needed a minute to decide on another app. Well no joke 36 minutes passed and the waitress finally came back. After we ordered a white wine and all the wait, she said they were out. Don’t get me wrong, I get when a place is busy or when a waitress says it will be a little… But there was no excuse and no apology.

I haven’t been this disappointed as I am with the woodman. Mainly because I was so looking forward to a great experience from the moment we got there. My friends and I went there for guys night. The atmosphere is great, good crown and great ambiance. For us that’s where it stopped. Our drinks took forever to arrive… about 20 – 25 minutes minimum. The food took even longer. The shocking thing is that they didn’t have enough chicken wings for our order so they tried to sneak in pork belly instead assuming that we wouldn’t notice. Even more shocking is that the waitress admitted that the kitchen told her so. We let that go and ordered more food. It took so long that we canceled everything and went somewhere else. A little note to the managers, one waitress and one bartender on a busy busy Thursday night is just not going to cut it. Invest more in employees and the customers will more than make up for the investment. I’d really love to give this place another chance but I just have a very bad taste in my mouth.

Terrible Service & Ehh food. NOT A BRUNCHPLACE !!! Here on a Sunday morning and this place is just a mess. Our waitress was nice in the beginning, until she went missing… In the middle of our meal, one of the waitresses came up to us and asked to move our tables. She came up to us making it seem like it our problem that she needed tables pushed together. She was EXTREMELY rude the whole interaction. After this incident we found that no one took the tables, so she could have waited until after our meal to move the tables. All the while she went around eating with her mouth full… While she was supposed to be serving Clearly there are issues with service and it needs to be fixed. regardless I will not be returning or recommending this hot mess.

Went here on a Sunday morning for a birthday brunch and the NFL playoff game! Walked right in and sat ourselves on the patio for our party of 7. There’s a TV on the patio, and the heaters were on low which kept it a nice enjoyable temperature on the patio. They’re brunch menu is great! Started off with the Famous Woodman Pub Chips with the Dijonnaise and Banana Spice Ketchup, while we waited for the party to arrive. The Chips are more like fries and seasoned just the perfect amount. I was torn between ordering the Chicken Biscuit Sliders and the Short Rib Hash Skillet, unfortunately they were out of the Short Rib but it made my decision a little easier. The fried chicken was delicious and meaty within the breading, and the buttermilk biscuits were nice and flaky, all tied together with a nice white Vermont cheddar. These were served with a side of strawberry jam(more like a strawberry sauce as it was more runny than a jam), but such a great complement to the sliders, as it was the sweet you needed to the salty chicken! Delicious both together and apart. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals as well, which included: — Bubba’s Country Benedict — Beer Battered Shrimp Tacos — Praline Pecan French Toast — The Woodman Breakfast Burrito The only downside to this place was close parking was a little difficult to find. But still earned a bookmark in my book for a return(to try their full menu and those delicious looking grilled corn lollipops).

The atmosphere is that of a usual bar-dark, loud music, etc. It’s a mature hipster vibe. The waitress was very sweet. They’re all actually very pretty. I’m sure that’s a bonus. :) I got the wings & they were definitely not as fried or flavorful as I usually like them. My friend got the BBQ chicken burger & said he didn’t love it either. I think for drinks and good friends it could be good. I’ll try ordering something different next time.

Kinda crazy for us to go on a Saturday night with football going on but to be honest the place did not disappoint at all. Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and flavor of essentially a sports/whiskey bar. The wings had good flavor and the poke cones were actually really perfect. Shrimp were ok but nothing great idk who there fuck ordered them at our table lol. Portions were fair and service was super fast and attentive cleaning our semi narrow tables every time we needed without having to ask. Despite the crazy busy atmosphere it was pretty enjoyable even though a lot of the stuff we wanted to try was sold out… corn lollipops l, pork belly sliders, buffalo trace bourbon. Prices weren’t bad either and fairly decent. $ 9 for a very solid whiskey or bourbon seemed to be the going rate. $ 10-$ 12 for tapas. Good little place to take the wife next date night or for a quick drink.

I love this place! I moved to Sherman Oaks a couple months ago, and upon exploring the area, I stumbled upon this place one Saturday evening. I frequent here often now, and a couple of my friends work there, so I could be biased. Firstly Aleks is the sweetest server. She’s also a hairstylist and we work in the same salon together, so it’s fun to get to see her in action in both places! She’s friendly, and an amazing stylist if you ever need your hair done! Angelino and Mike are fantastic too, they are the nicest guys, they always make sure my friends and myself are taken care of. And Paul, he runs the show. He’s an amazing bartender(seriously, just give him an idea of the types of drinks you like, and he’ll create something amazing for you) he has the most effervescent personality; I wouldn’t doubt if he’s a huge reason why everyone comes back to the bar! I’m a huge fan of genuine people, and he’s definitely one of those. I love the ambience of the place. I first started going there around the holidays, so they have the best decorations and little sparkly string lights that make me happy I doubt those will be our year round though. The set up of the bar is fantastic, you can walk/sit all around it, aesthetically, this place is really cool! There’s tv’s everywhere playing sports games too if you’re into that! They also have some fun games like Jenga and Connect 4 if you want to switch it up and have some fun! Now the food… omg YUM. I have a lot of food allergies so I can’t try the entire menu, but I have an obsession with the mushroom medley and the Brussels sprouts. The corn, nachos, bacon wrapped shrimp, and the burger are amazing as well. Friends have tried almost everything else on the menu and told me it’s amazing. I don’t think you can go wrong with this place, they have the best chef. A huge group of us went there for New Years Eve and we had the BEST time! check this place out, you’ll love it!

Sunday Funday! I came here with a group of friends to watch football, have drinks, at eat some sharable plates. The menu had a creative variety to pick from. I loved their meatballs and their lemon garlic chicken wings. Their mimosas were also the bomb! This place is perfect atmosphere to hang out with friends and have a bite to eat over some drinks!

I came here for my first time last week on Saturday, and I’ve been meaning to go by for awhile. Atmosphere: It was a busy Saturday night with the USC vs Standford game playing, so with that came some definitely loud cheering individuals. I can see this place being busy with different sports on, but even after that game it was a bit loud with the music. For my preferences, I would have liked the music just a bit lower; it’s a gastropub after all not a club. Definitely a pretty cool atmosphere despite that, it has a modern type look and feel with different fixtures and western type artwork of sorts. Location: Right off Ventura Blvd and Woodman(hence the name). You’ll find all sorts of businesses, stores, and other bars/restaurants in the area. Parking is valet only besides any street parking. Beware of the residential streets nearby, if you happen to park in any street nearby seek those parking signs and read them as most are restricted for people without the proper zone permits. If you don’t want to lose out on $ 68 from officer whoever, then park elsewhere. Food: Fish & Chips Fresh Haddock filet, rosemary french fries, mango coleslaw, served with lemon caper tarter sauce, spicy chipotle sauce and malt vinegar. The fish was cooked nicely and I liked the batter, crispy crunch with a moist fish inside. The rosemary french fries were not overly flavored with rosemary, it was pretty subtle in fact, but the fries were good. I did not receive the mango coleslaw as you can see in the picture, but perhaps some mango was at the bottom of it as I didn’t remember finishing the coleslaw since it was the run of your mil type. The tarter sauce was good but once again I guess I was missing something else, the spicy chipotle sauce. I wouldn’t have minded trying it if it was SUPPOSED to come with the meal, but I don’t think it was necessary, tarter sauce and malt vinegar will do just fine. Nothing unusual with the malt vinegar — good to go on that. The menu itself has some nice items worthy of trying for sure. A good balance of different things. Two friends shared the shrimp and avocado salad but didn’t receive the shrimp on there until the party told our sever it was missing, not the biggest issue. When the shrimp did come it was overly done in whatever flavoring they used to some degree, but rather it was just rubbery and chewey and almost inedible. Stuff happens. Service: For being as busy as it was I suppose, service was good. Our server was friendly, dealt with things as they came about, and seemed cool. Nothing over the top or to have been wowed about but there’s always time for that at other times. My friends did receive a discount off their bill for the shrimp and salad issue, and that was really kind of the establishment. We also had a free fun shot because of checking in on Unilocal!Nice.

One star is being too generous to this place. The seating? Horrible. The service? Horrible. The food? Average. The alcohol? Average. The table for 2 people is so small that we were unable to fit more than our drinks and 1 plate of food on it. The service sucks too. We sat down and looked at the menu for about 15 minutes until someone finally decided to stop at our table. First thing she said was, «Our kitchen is backed up but what do you guys want for me to put in?» Mind you this is our first time here and her tone was really rude. We asked her to give us a few minutes to look over the menu and 5 minutes later another person came and took our order, which I didn’t understand why. AFTER she took our order, someone else came by and took our drink order. We probably spoke to 3 people and it just seemed like service was all over the place. As for food and alcohol. We ordered the poke cones, fries, chicken biscuit sandwich, and the shrimp tacos. The fries were SUPER greasy, the poke cones were bland and had absolutely no taste, and the chicken biscuit tasted like I was eating cardboard. OH and for the shrimp tacos, I never got to try it because they brought me the wrong order and brought shrimp, dates, and it was wrapped in bacon(which wasn’t that great). I was so over it that we just asked for the check and left. Don’t waste your time here

I totally dig this place! I came here for the happy hour but I had no idea what a great vibe The Woodman had. The drink list is extensive to say the least. Sooo many different beers on tap and bottled. There’s also long list of wine and cocktails, you’re bound to find something to your liking. Happy hour is totally legit. 1st, it’s 7 days a week. 2nd, happy hours runs 4:30 to 8! Big fan of those hours. Food: although the happy hour specials don’t apply to food, the appetizer list is massive! The onion rings were pretty good but the mac and cheese was excellent. Super gooey and tasty. We also shared the chicken biscuit sliders with a side of strawberry jam. The biscuit was a bit dry but when mixed with the strawberry jam, the slider was just right. I’d say they’re a bit on the heavier side for an appetizer. Next time I’d probably order it as a main dish. Good way to soak up some of the alcohol :) Overall the Woodman has a great vibe to accompany a solid drink menu and a fun/tasty food menu. There’s some board games and tv’s around the bar to keep almost everyone entertained. Many props for The Woodman!

Passed this place when it opened and wondered what new place would be added to continue to liven up the strip of Sherman Oaks, a new bustling center for gastropubs. We dropped in one night and we are so glad we did. Got wine, husband got beer, and friends got an old fashioned and a margarita. All of the drinks were on point and delicious. The ambiance was great, industrial with lots of beams and wood, and very classy(but you can be casual here). There is wait service at the tables, and there are TVs if you want to catch some Monday night football. Indoor and outdoor seating provided. The service was great and the food was good: — Burger was perfectly done and pretty good, nothing too exciting but good(doesn’t come with fries). — Fries were fantastic and came with two different house made dipping sauces. — Corn pops were AWESOME. Flavorful and spiced to perfection. Would order these again hands down. — Bacon and date covered shrimp skewers were delicious. They were cooked well and the flavors and textures worked for me as a bacon and seafood lover. — Nachos were very good and would order again. Happy hour is for select drinks only, no food is on the HH menu, but the drinks were all great. Check in here on Unilocal for a free«fun shot»! We loved ours, something like a lemon drop shot. Did not skimp on the alcohol. Tuesday evenings are trivia nights. I’m not a fan of trivia but if you are, knock yourself out!

I celebrated my Bday here last Wednesday and I still can’t stop raving about it! I love this place! After Madbulls(RIP) closed, I’ve been looking for a good, solid mixed crowd with bartenders who make a good stiff dink! I’ve roamed around Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood and to Studio City and didn’t find something I wanted to really be a loyal patron at. They have the friendliest bartenders, good vibe and best of all delicious food and drinks! Most places just make descent food and good drinks, this place does all! It shouldn’t be hard, but most are not able to do so. I wish I lived closer, and yes if I did take Über it would cost me more than 3 drinks. With that said, anytime I’m ever in the area… I’ll be seeing you! Thank you staff and everyone who made my Bday awesome! Like the adult Chuck E Cheese, minus the singing!
