The service was fast and friendly. I ordered the Tofu Burrito and was definitely underwhelmed. I’m a big tofu fan and I ended up being super disappointed with TK’s tofu. My rule of thumb: if tofu tastes bland, you’re cooking it wrong. The burrito was so bland that I ended up throwing it away because every bite I felt more disappointment. I’m giving it 3 stars simply because I only had one item and I don’t think it’s fair to judge them off of one possibly poorly cooked tofu burrito. The service was friendly and I’d want to come back to try that guammus.

@TKTruck Here’s another truck that has some good ideas but they lose something in the execution. Tried a trio of tacos and while I found them to be good, they weren’t great. Since the chicken and the steak are marinated and garnished the same they kind of taste the same. It’s a good taste but it kind of feels like the flavor of the meat is losing to its surroundings. In other words the marinade and garnish is about 90% of what you taste. And like I said, it’s a good flavor. I’d eat it again, perhaps try the quesadilla but I don’t know if I’d go out of my way for it.

Good not great, very tasty. The nane bread is amazing. I cant figure out their theme… is it mexican or Mediterranean or both? Service was fantastic. a must try for food truck.

I’ve passed this truck up a couple of times because their menu didn’t sound that interesting. Well slap my ass and call me Sally, I was WRONG. Today I gave them a try as they were down the street during lunch time. The woman at the window was very sweet and friendly. I ordered one of their combos. This one consisted of their Mother’s Love Quesadilla and two mini tacos — one beef and one chicken. The mini tacos were cute, tasty bites. I really loved the hummus served on both of them. They say that both meats are marinated the same but I found the tender beef to be bursting with flavor while the chicken was good but not as flavorful. The quesadilla was a surprise. The cheese was tangy and there was a slight minty taste in each bite. I ordered it with mild spice which still made my eyes water and nose runny so I bet all you Unilocal-hot-spice-crazies will love their«hot» version. There are only a few food trucks that I enjoyed enough that I’d want to visit again. This is one of them. So glad I gave them a try!

I love, love, love The TK Truck! They are an outstanding example of fusion done right! We had the Mother’s Love Quesadilla with a side of guammus. What’s guammus you say? It’s a super tasty combination of guacamole and hummus. It was the perfect accompaniment to this quesadilla. My only wish after eating the quesadilla was that there was room in my stomach to go back and order more food from them. I’m looking forward to eating at this truck again!

I am as perplexed as many of the reviewers that have reviewed this truck. 5 stars for this place, I don’t think so. I understand that food is a purely subjective matter, but even the most untrained palate can understand this place does not deserve 5 stars. Let me just start off by saying, the food isn’t overall horrible. As the people like to say, this place has good bones… but it needs to work on its execution and it needs to reevaluate its price structure, and its menu layout as it was quite hard trying to figure out what was what and what cost what. I ordered the burrito for $ 7.25. One would think for that amount one would get something more inline with what one would get at Chipotle or something like that. This was not the case. The burrito while in its wrapper resembled more of a quesadilla rather than a burrito and once I unwrapped it, it did not change. So maybe the just charge a lot for small portions, but for some reason the texture of the burrito was not good. It took me a while to figure out what it was and ultimately I think it was the hummus they include with their filling, which really gave it a very grimy texture to the meat, which was pretty unpleasant to eat. The flavor profile was decent, but with the amount of spice they promised, it under delivered. Ultimately it really comes down to whether you think their food is worth the price of admission and for me I have to say no. I gave it one extra star because there was some spice to the meat and when I was able to taste it, the flavor profile was somewhat complex, however the rest of the burrito, the spices were non-existent.

I don’t know why the reviews are so high on this, I suspect some fake reviews have been posted. I had the chicken kabob burrito and it actually tasted pretty good but it seriously lacked in portion. For $ 7.25 for a burrito, you’d expect it to be fairly filling. It definitely wasn’t. I’m not fat and I’m not a big eater at all and this left me hungry. I tried the mushrooms and those were just bad. I would avoid this truck.

I seriously can’t comprehend why this place got so many high ratings. It’s utter rubbish. Service: 1 star… slow and not all that friendly but I gave them a $ 1 tip for my$ 6 tab anyway. Sheesh Price: 1 star… way overpriced Portions: 1 star… WAAAAAAAY too small. I ordered the Mother’s Love Quesadilla which was suppose to come with red bell peppers and cucumbers but in actuality only contained cheese and a shitload of random spices. Also, the magical mushrooms were more like ghetto-overspiced fungi gone wrong. I’ll never make this mistake again and neither should you. **UPDATE: Thanks to the owner for thorough and unsolicited explanation about the food. I LOVE uniquely spiced meals but the one I received from this truck was a total miss. Sorry.**

I’m a huge fan of food trucks here in LA, so I was pretty excited to try The TK Truck and the Mediterranean-fusion food. I asked the guy what he recommends and he suggested the Mother’s Love Quesadilla. He said it was«like to no other» — so I gave it a go. Unfortunately, I thought it tasted average and it was quite expensive for food trucks. It was $ 6 bucks for a tortilla, cheese, peppers, meat and a hint of mint. I’d pay that much if it were super delicious, but the cheese wasn’t melted at all. That was strange. But even if it were supposed to be like this(un-melted cheese), it had a strange texture for a «quesadilla.» Now, i’ve had Mediterranean-fusion food on several occassions, and i’m an overall HUGE fan. But this was just simply lacking taste. It was just an expensive quesadilla. My friend tried the mushroom shooters… and we thought it would be something unique and interesting, but it seriously tasted like… mushrooms. Simply a few cooked mushrooms. Still confused about this one.

I had a chance to finally try the TK truck at a private event this weekend and it was just like eating at a family bbq. First up was the mother lover quesadilla — just like my homemade Armenian grilled cheese sandwiches, but in a tortilla! And had a good amount of Aleppo pepper for a spicy touch. I also took(more than a couple of) bites of the chicken and steak burritos, served with a mixture of spicy mashed avocados which I couldn’t have enough of! They even had a «shroom shots» special — tiny mushroom caps with a blend of Mediterranean spices. For larger events, they maybe be slow, but at least you know your food is as fresh as possible! Loved it.

Like others, I’m not sure why this truck gets such high reviews. I ordered the Chicken Kabob Burrito. It tasted basically like a middle eastern pita with a flour tortilla instead of pita bread. The Chicken was pretty dry and the burrito had about 2⁄3 the stuffing you see in the menus on their site. All this made me feel like I needed a lot of drink to get this down. Service was extremely slow. I waited over 15 minutes for my food with only 2 orders ahead of me. Looking into the truck, people seemed to be standing around, confused about what to do. When you consider the ok food, slow service, and add in slightly high prices, this would probably get two stars. But I give them an extra star because a see a glimmer of genius in their food. I tried their Mushroom Shots, which were awesome. They also had a sign up for a Guacamole/Hummus hybrid sauce that looked awesome. Unfortunately, they were out of avocados(so no sauce) and I gather that the mushrooms were the reason my order took so long. So you’ve got guys with a great culinary vision who are having an EXTREMELY hard time executing. I really hope they can get some quality and consistency in that truck, because it has a lot of potential. I’ll probably try them once more in a month or so. I hope they don’t disappoint again.

BESTMOTHERTRUCKERALIVE!!! It seriously is «grillz gone wilde»(probably not how they spell that). But it is once of my favorite, and I have been around the block with food trucks. Everything on the menu is great but the things that stand out the most to me are the Mother Lover Quesadilla and the tacos! It’s the best of both worlds for Armenian/Mediterranean food and a Mexican Taco/burrito fusion. I absolutely love it, and I definitely recommend this taco truck to anyone that is willing to chase after it!

Mediterranean Latin fusion. Done right. The proteins(beef, chicken, and tofu) are marinated with traditional Armenian/Lebanese spices, and cooked on an open flame, searing in the flavor and juices. Just typing that made my mouth water. I think grilling stuff on an open flame transcends culture/ethnicity. It’s like a universal human trait to love grilled meat. Who can resist the smell of meat/tofu being grilled on an open flame? Ok, so back to TK. You can get the protein in taco or burrito form. The tacos come lined with hummus, pivaz(tangy sumac, onion, and parsley), and a nice salsa. The flavors were really good and I liked the texture of the hummus with the protein. I tried chicken and beef and was more partial to the chicken. Both were decently tender and flavorful. I also tried the Gaummus which is a mixture of guacamole and hummus — strange at first but it grew on me. Pic: Also tried the Mother’s Love Quesadilla. This one was a winner with a Middle Eastern style cheese, a red pepper spice blend, cucumbers, and mint leaves. Definitely a great example of ‘fusion’. Something very Middle Eastern about it but also with the familiarity of the tortilla. Loved it. Pic: Service was quick and friendly too. Hope to see more of this truck.

TK as in Technical Knockout. Mainly because like a punch to that button on your chin, I didn’t see this truck coming! And no, It’s not that I got hit by it when I was doing a sweet shuffle in the middle of the road, but I was just not expecting this truck to be that good. And to have that many options. First off, it’s a Vegan friendly truck that actually doesn’t offend me. I know, that’s pretty wicked. I guess I could bring all my meat-hating friends out with me to enjoy some good street food without totally offending their sensibilities. And while I usually stay clear from most places that offer sanctuary to those who turn away from the red blood, this one actually had me trying the tofu tacos. They were surprisingly good. But let’s not focus on the vegan stuff. It’s just good to note that they cater to those kind here. The TK chicken taco is no joke. I had one of those and one of the steaks, and while they seem to be marinated in the same sauce, the flavors just really pop out. I was sort of leaning towards the chicken a little more after all was said and done. The burritos are priced pretty well at around six and some change. Especially good considering the prices of street tacos these days. This truck had it holding the line at $ 2.50, so if you can get a burrito with a good double the meat of a taco and some extra filling, it’s a good deal if I ever bitten into one. They also have an Aga burger. But I didn’t bother to try that. which I do sort of regret, but then again, that would be my eyes having a wider sense than what my stomach can handle. Next time. oh next time. I do have to say, that if I see this truck I will at least get a taco as they were really good.

Amazing food. I had a sample of the beef burrito and I’ll probably get that next time. I ordered the Aga’s Burger… it’s like a loaded burger with pita flat breads instead of regular buns, an interesting touch. You HAVE to get it with the«Gaummus,» a fusion of guacamole and hummus. This one burger definitely got me full. The owners Nareg and Harout are extremely nice people, and after talking to Nareg about the history behind the middle eastern recipes, it made me appreciate the unique menu even more. Will definitely be back! BTW, they apparently have the largest open flame grill for a food truck — flippin’ sweet!

Nothing more important to me on a Saturday afternoon than celebrating Bill C’s hundredth truck. Serious milestone! We trekked down to Melrose to partake of this momentous occasion. The big day was to be enjoyed with the delightful staff of the TK Truck. We enjoyed some samples of their hummus while deciding what we should have. I wavered back and forth between the quesadilla and the burrito. All with a Mediterranean flare! Ultimately we decided we should all share the Mother’s Love Quesadilla while I enjoyed the Steak Kabob Burrito. The quesadilla was filled with Nene Cheese(whatever that means), cucumbers and mint. That Mediterranean flare was super unique and totally great. I’ve never thought cucumber in a quesadilla would be a great idea but I assure you it was fresh, refreshing and a welcome crisp. I was lucky that the mint was almost undetectable. I’m not crazy about mint so it was nice that it was under the radar. Very yummy. The kabob burrito was also great. It was a nice touch to have the hummus and onions and parsley all mixed up inside. The burrito was grilled which I think always adds to the flavor. Lucy had the same burrito but sans the tortilla. I was wishing later that day while I had carb bloat that I had done the same thing. I dig burrito bowls and this one looked particularly stellar. Ted and Bill’s burgers were also very yummy. There was hummus, parsley & onions just like on the burrito so there was similar flavors. It’s new and not yet on the permanent menu but I’m sure it will be soon. There was flat bread instead of actual buns but it was perfect that way. The staff was wonderful, the food was good, the companionship was perfect. Overall a great truck and the best Saturday a girl could ask for. Congrats to Bill C. on 100 trucks!

Today was a bit of a milestone for me; my 100th different review of 1 of Southern California’s ubiquitous food trucks. I was really hoping that they would be world-class excellent; and while they weren’t, they were still very very good. Since I met up fellow Unilocal*ers Lucy Y; Tai B and her spousal unit Ted B, I got to try a good sampling of the menu. We all shared a Mother’s Love Quesadilla, your typical Mexican tortilla with Nene’s Cheese, a tangy middle eastern cheese with cucumbers and a hint of mint. It was a nice surprise to take a bite of what seemed to be an ordinary quesadilla and have a world of flavors open up beneath the quesadilla. It was quite good. Ted and I each chose the Asa’s burger. Which again was made with a middle-eastern accent. The«bun» was flatbread, the cheese was Havarti, the main condiment was hummus, and I was introduced to Pivaz which is sort of a onion, parsley and sumaki aioli, The meat was ground beef with the typical kabob seasonings. Mine was tasty, but the patty didn’t quite hold together. I ate about half of it in the bun with the toppings, but had to get a fork to clean up the rest. My one and only bestest Unilocal*friend Lucy Y. and my other one and only bestest Unilocal*friend Tai B. each got the TK Kabob Burrito with the beef option, Tai had hers the traditional way, while Lucy had hers served up in a low-carb version in a bowl sans tortilla. She also swapped out the hummus for babaganoush. The beef was more of a tri-tip style cut, nicely marinated with the same seasonings as in my burger, The 2 burgers, 2 burritos, quesadilla and 3 drinks came to $ 37.00 and change, They do list the prices before tax and add it afterwords. The owner operator Nareg is a friendly guy who obviously enjoys his job and his food. He shared samples of hummus and pita chips with is and other passersby He was friendly enough to merit a 4.5 star review to be rounded up a 5. If you run across the truck he is the guy probably wearing the UC-Irvine baseball cap. Tell him the guy from the 100th review says hello. «Gourmet Food Truck #100 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in So Cal»

When Bill C — King of Trucks — said that he was about to celebrate his 100th truck, I made a point to BETHERE for this momentous occasion! He had heard good things about TK Truck so he, Tai and Ted B and I all met on Melrose and Fuller in W. Hollywood just before 2pm today. We walked up to the truck and looked at the menu as a couple people in front of us ordered. After super friendly truck dude Nareg granted my wish for a babaghanoush sample, I knew exactly what I wanted: TK Kabab Burrito($ 6.25) — steak(instead of chicken or tofu, the other options), babaghanush instead of the hummus that usually comes with, grilled bell peppers, homemade salsa and pivaz(onion, parsley, sumac) — but no carb style — no tortilla. Nareg was totally supportive of my choice to forego carbs, and didn’t even bat an eye when I requested it sans tortilla. So I basically got a burrito bowl, with a pile of meat and veggies and red onions. It was healthy and SOYUM! The babaghanoush was smoky and chunky and obviously freshly made, the bell peppers were tender, the chunks of steak were flavorful and a little bit charred, and the red onion and salsa were tasty accents. Tai ended up getting the TK Kabab Burrito also, classic in-the-tortilla style, and I noticed that they had grilled her burrito. I love that! Had I been eating the burger that way, I would have really enjoyed that extra touch. We all shared: Mother’s Love Quesadilla($ 5.00) — cheese, red peppers and dried mint in a nicely browned quesadilla, with sliced cucumbers on the side. The flavor of mint came through in this quesadilla, in the best way! It added a nice layer of unexpected mediterranean flavor that I really enjoyed. Another yum! Both Bill and Ted got: Aga’s Burger($ 7.00) — Havarti cheese, burger patty, pivaz(onion, parsley, sumac), tomatoes, lettuce and hummus on a thin bun that was actually those sammich thins. The bun was grilled, and the meat was flavorful. Everything went together really well — I got a good bite of one, and both Bill and Ted enjoyed their excellent(burger) adventures: P. We made a point to tell Nareg that we were celebrating Bill’s 100th, and he was SOSWEET that he asked«How can we make this special for you?». He took pictures with us and hammed it up a bit, and was all around fun and funny and super helpful. In fact, I’m going to recommend him for Ciara G’s hottie list! Nareg, you just might get a visit from more Unilocalers very soon!

I just came back from my 2nd time eating at the TK truck when it parks on Grandview and Flower and as of today I’ve officially had everything on the menu. What can I say, I’m a fan. This is one of those food experiences where I can’t think of a thing they could improve. My favorites are the steak kebob burrito and(believe it or not) the tofu taco which is surprisingly awesome. I look forward to seeing them again next Tuesday. 5 stars all the way!
