Average. Mostly because I had high expectations, but really everyhing is the same as my regular sushi spot I go to when I’m looking for sushi. Nothing spectacular with food BUT the place!!! Oh gosh it’s BEUTIFUL! Nice view, nice decoration with warm seats. Ordered California rolls and tasted just as what they should. Miso soup way too salty for my taste, soy beans taste like what they always do. Crispy Eggplant was delicious! Cucumber Gimlet drink was ok, and Endless Summer was super good! Visited on a Thursday night, not busy but service was extremely slow! Took 20 minutes for our waitress to bring hot sauce. I had aten more than half of my food by then. Overall, if you want to impress someone, this is the spot! If you’re looking for GOOD tasty food, save some money and go elsewhere, not worth the price.

Came here mostly for the view, nevertheless, the sushi was okay, and the wings seemed rather dry, but ai give it four stars because of the view and waitress.

The ambiance and view are great! The food is alright, to drink we had lychee martini, then we had some salmon, dragon roll and crab tacos. The portions are very small and the menu is divided into three sections and each one HS its own kitchen so you may get your main course before an appetizer… Overall I believe you go there for the view and atmosphere, people tend to dress up but you can also dress casual.

Went here for husbands birthday. Must say, didn’t live up to the hype. Mainly because of poor service and food coming out in completely random order! Server kept her answers to one word, didn’t seem interested in giving us service expected for a higher end experience. Kept implying«these dishes are meant for sharing» when clearly their portions are NOT. She cleared my menu before we even ordered, didn’t offer refills, and felt like asking her questions were like pulling teeth. Its hard enough to enjoy date nights with kids in the picture these days. Won’t be waisting my date nights here again! … But the view is beautiful :)

You go for the view here. That’s pretty much the draw for Takami(and next door’s Elevate Lounge). I’ve been here for work lunch celebrations, happy hours, and dinner with the BF. The cuisine is okay, but pricey. You pay for the open window concept on this 21st floor place and enjoy the sunset and nighttime lights and sounds of DTLA. If possible, I would try to make a dinner reservation before the sun sets, so that as you’re seated and ordering, you can enjoy the transition from day to night. Plus, downtown is really pretty at night with all the lights on and with more progress on the building in place of the former Wilshire Grand, the view should be pretty spectacular at all sides now. I’ve seen Groupons and Living Socials deals for Takami pop up every so often, so snagging one of those can definitely ease the cost. Just keep in mind of restrictions that come with it, such as when you can use it, whether there’s an automatic service charge, or exclusions like the happy hour menu. Since I used to work in DTLA, I’ve always parked at work and walked on over. There is virtually little to no street parking around this side of town(without some considerable walking), so you may need to settle for a public parking lot(pay by 20 min increments or flat rate) or valet.

Despite having a reservation, we were shoved in the far corner of the restaurant — where it was drafty as FUCK. This restaurant sits on the 21st floor. So it wasn’t just cold, it was WINDY. I used my wool coat as a blanket throughout the entire meal. The server’s response was all, «aww shucks.» The yellowtail sushi was good. $ 7(and the same price as the seaweed salad — to which I have to ask: seriously?) The toro was marginally decent, but for the price I expected much better. $ 17 The salmon sushi was blah(wtf? Salmon is always good). $ 6 The Penthouse roll was yummy. $ 16 Sake for $ 21-$ 60/bottle was OK. The service was fine in terms of how fast the food arrived. Otherwise reflects the energy of this restaurant as a whole — #NotGivingAShit The table next to us had a different server that offered to buy them their meal if they mentioned him by name in their stellar review. To which I said, «I’ll take that!!» His response: you’re not in my section. FAIL. When we left the restaurant, I let the GM know how utterly uncomfortable we were. He couldn’t give a shit. Literally. Unbelievably bad service. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

Food is decent not amazing, everything was a bit cold Bc it took so long(the robata I mean because sushi clearly cold haha) the service was sloooooooow even tho it wasn’t busy … And for the cost? I’ve dined at amazing restaurants that cost $ 300 a meal and have been fine with the cost because of the quality, but $ 235 for a mediocre meal and mediocre service was sort of ridiculous There are better rooftop places, better sushi places, better lounges in LA

My third time visiting and dining here.(Saturday, Jan 16th2016). The food quality was horrible(the hot items were served cold, and the cold items were served at room temperature). Besides that, our server(Scott) never bothered once to smile, ask how everything was or be kind in any way. He did the bare minimum and so he got a bare minimum tip. PS: WAY overpriced. Save your money. The only good thing was the view.

This place was SOOODELICIOUS! BF and I came here last night for our anniversary. Um. Let me just say I work at a Japanese restaurant as well and I have to say the quality of Takami’s food is excellent. We had the baked mini scallops on shell. They were to die for. It comes in a garlic butter sauce(my BF wouldn’t stop talking about those damn baby scallops) we then had foie gras wrapped in angus filet along w little skewers of miso glazed salmon. yummy as well. We later ordered the sashimi plate. Fish just melted in your mouth and I loved the real wasabi they placed on the side of the platter. After, we inhaled the Takami roll. Though it was a bit bland, it was still delicious. ***Also, drinks were so good! Ladies, I recommend the wild berry martini. It’s great*** My BF and I loved this place so much as well as our waitress, the nice blonde girl w short hair. I will definitely come back here for my birthday

This place had a rooftop bar feel, as the place is located on the 20th floor of a business building in downtown LA. There is a ceiling, but no window panes where windows should be, so that you could breath in the city air. Fun and filled with lots of young people. Delicious sushi! Service was excellent; I was there with a big group and we were well attended to. There were serves coming over to bring us cucumber infused water. They also asked us if we needed anything at pretty regular intervals

I came here more then 20 times but the last time i was here i was not happy . When I made reservation i clearly told the lady who takes reservation that i want inside table reserved since is cold outside. When i got to Takami all the inside table was not available & they try to seat me outside when is hella cold =(??? I told them that i called & wanted inside table so we want to be seated inside they moved us to the bar &5 min later they move us again to different bar with wet chair where seats were real wet with water so i wipe the wet chair myself & did not mention the bad service at all. After dinner when i got home i notice that they charge me for a more expensive dish i did not order the waitress made a mistake & i notice it too late =(Not happy at all . They dont reserve the seat inside so why take reservation ? No point in making reservation stupid rule . Also check your recipt before paying since they will over charge you.

The views are spectacular. Never did the lounge, but came here a few times for lunch. The lunch deals are a steal. The portions are elf like but the quality of fishy is nice. For hefty eaters, the bento boxes are the way to go. Grabbing individual sushi/sashimi can add up real quick especially with some nice cold sake bottles =) The service is really good. From hostess to wait-staff. It’s amazing!!! This can be a nice lunch/dinner date place. At night can be romantic before the party gets crazy… but the light! and florescent moonshine!

Great location/view is excellent. I ordered the Spicy Tuna on crispy rice, based on other reviews I had read. It was good, but I wasn’t as impressed as others. Ordered the Takami Roll… when in Rome… it was not my favorite either. It had too much pepper in it for me. I guess this came from the peppered tuna, I just wasn’t expecting a black pepper flavor on my sushi… and I didn’t care for it.

The location of this restaurant is amazing. Located 21 floors up and which creates amazing views! Almost surreal. Food was great and service was great as well. The big problem I had was a giant piece of hair in my friends sushi. I want to give this place 5 stars for the food, Location and service but the hair is the food is unacceptable for the price of this food. When you arrive at the location pay attention to the signs they will point you to the right direction. It can be a little hard to find. For starters we had the classic Edamame which is Salted Warm Soy Beans. Then we ordered Yellowtail Jalapeño Yellowtail Sashimi served with Ponzu Sauce & Sliced Jalapeño. This plate is always a winner. I ordered Lemon-Albacore Roll Spicy Tuna Roll with Cucumber wrapped with Albacore & Lemon Slices. Which is the most refreshing roll I have had from any sushi spot. This place is great for a date. Just make sure to make reservations.

A great sushi place in a high rise in DTLA that is also a club at night(Elevate lounge). This place has awesome views of LA with two sections to sit, indoors and«outdoors»(it’s not really outside, but there are gaps in the windows that allow air to flow in and there’s more light). The sushi is pretty decent. Similar to Katsuya — more trendy than authentic sushi. My friend and I shared the seaweed salad, spicy tuna on crunchy rice, a couple of robata items, the crunch roll and the scallops. I did not care for the seaweed salad too much — I have had much better. The spicy tuna was good and so was the crunch roll(shrimp tempura with avocado and cucumber). I did not try the scallops. Overall, everything was good. It was a little pricey, but you are paying for the view, ambiance, etc… Service was good and fast. They took our order right away and brought out each item as it was ready.

Great ambiance, service & food! My girlfriend and I went for a Wednesday night date night without a reservation. Justin, the manager, found us a table outside with an amazing view of LA!(The skyline felt like being in New York– just awesome!) We started at the bar for a quick beer. The bartender gave us our beers at «happy hour» prices as we had just missed the last happy hour call. Then off to our table. Our waiter was on the ball! Great suggestions and personality. We started off with some California rolls, peppers(Very Spicy), scallops and edamames. A few more Asahi beers and a tasty plate of Chilean Sea Bass to fill our bellies. We received a desert plate as a thank you for coming in after the restaurant was closed for a month.(We had reservations a month ago but the building was shut down for an LADWP accident.) All & all, I am very happy Takami Sushi. Quality food and quality service! I can’t wait to go back!

If you want to overlook a nice view for dinner then Takami would be a good choice. They are located on top the 21st floor of a building that overlooks Downtown LA. They have a beautiful outdoor patio area with lots of seating for you to enjoy the view. FOOD: I came for a friend’s birthday. We were a large party and were not able to take a seat unless EVERYONE was there. That was kind of annoying because some people were just stopping by and it delayed the entire dinner. The host finally offered to speak to her manager to get us seated. We didn’t take a seat till a little over half an hour later… Food wise — you have quite a few Japanese entrée options: yakitori, sushi, and main entrees as well. I have to admit, their prices here are definitely pricey. I think it’s a bit overpriced. To start things off, we got a few orders of the crispy rice spicy tuna. It was standard. The rice was crispy and the tuna was fresh. It just wasn’t as spicy as I’d like. There are 9 pieces that come with an order, which is a lot. But the dish was just bland and not very memorable. 2⁄5 For an entrée, I ordered the yellow albacore roll and the miso Chilean sea bass. Out of the two, I highly recommend the sea bass. The sea bass was absolutely delicious. It was soft, tender, and very flavorful. The miso flavor wasn’t overpowering the fish and it had a subtle sweetness to the dish. I really enjoyed the crispy onions on top that gave a great bite. 4⁄5 The lemon albacore roll was pretty good. Essentially, it is a spicy tuna roll wrapped with lemon slices and albacore. You can taste the lemon a lot which I liked because it made the roll really fresh and tangy. It was also a beautiful presentation because it was so colorful. Sadly, the roll wasn’t so spicy but it was quite fresh. SERVICE: So slow. I guess it is understandable for a party of 8. We also informed the host that we were celebrating a friend’s birthday and our server was completely unaware of it. I did let him know afterwards and he was nice enough to bring out a complimentary cake. But it just lost its specialty… Overall, I would recommend this for a date or a special occasion. The prices are pretty steep and I don’t think the food is that great for just a regular dinner.

Kaskade mades some wonderful lounge music, don’t you think? Include the ump-ump with a gorgeous view of DTLA and you are ready to impress that date, co-worker, or yourself!(who said having a drink by yourself on a nice summer day is a bad thing?) Takami offers one of the best views of DTLA for cheap. Whereas other parts of the city make you pay ridiculous covers just to stand on a roof or feel like you’re a fancy beeze, this restaurant lets you feel like a high roller without breaking the bank… that is, if you come for happy hour! From 16:00 — 19:00 on weekdays, you can enjoy $ 4 wells, wines, and select appetizers while gazing out into the amazing view. Some of my personal favorite include the stuffed peppers and calamari. We kept these coming for sure! While I’ve never ordered off the actual menu here, I am sure anyone can find something to enjoy given its Japanese-American fusion. If you’re in the mood to celebrate or just chat with a good friend, I couldn’t recommend this lounge more highly. Accessible via Metro– try to avoid parking cause it can get pricy in this part of town!

On the 21st floor, great view of DTLA. LOVE their enclosed patio seating area. Great place for Happy Hour time! The Service: Wonderful~ Our server, Toni, is sweet & attentive. Very pleasant dining experience. The Food: Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice — Crispy Rice Cakes topped with Spicy Tuna, Avocado, & Jalapeño. Love this appetizer! Cute little rice cakes topped with spicy tuna. Very addictive~ Takami Sashimi Platter — If you don’t like too much carb(rice), sashimi platter is the excellent choice. 6 different kinds of sashimi, nice varieties. Good quality food. Robota — Shitake & Asparagus. Love the shitake mushroom. Halibut Carpaccio — Thinly sliced Halibut, topped with Sea Salt, & Yuzu Oil. Just melted in your mouth~ The halibut is so fresh. Just need a little bit of sea salt & yuzu oil to bring out the flavor! Perfect dish~ The Parking: Valet parking $ 7
