Yeah, Taco Salsa is kind of a gringo-ey name(and they even have a meal called the Super Gringa — I didn’t order it) but you know what? Their salsas are outstanding for a taco truck and I understand why they’d want to call attention to them. I tried the two green ones atop my cabeza and carnitas tacos: both excellent and wildly different. The he darker, waterier tomatillo was deceptively spicy and heavily seeded, and filtered down through every pore of my carnitas, while the creamier cilantro-based sauce sat atop my cabeza like tzatziki. Admittedly I cheated by secretively adding some papalo leaves from the market down the street to my tacos, but if I hadn’t done that, it still would have been great. The carnitas are a little salty, but very tender, and the cabeza’s extremely soft and mild. Same prices as Tacos Arizas down the street and around the corner. I’m not sure why that place gets all the love and this one sits here with a lone two-star review! If I had to choose one, I’d probably prefer Taco Salsa because of its salsas and fresher tortillas(but oh, how I’d miss Arizas’ lengua).
