Pretty good spot have been coming here for years. The quality has gone down a little bit over the years. Still better than compared to some other spots close by. The service is fast and they are very accommodating to their customers as far as being able to customize the dish. So far the best spicy chicken I ever had.

Working in DTLA and walked across this place and smelled the food and just had to stop and grab my lunch. Friendly staff and great staff. Must say if you get a chance to eat here, definitely worth it. Can’t wait to work in this area again and will be back. Had the beef kabobs. Will try another plate next time.

So, I ordered a greek salad from them yesterday. Like I have many times before. I can only have certain kinds of cheese, feta, being one of them. I’ve always received feta cheese on my greek salad from them. Last night there was a different kind of cheese and when I called to ask why they said they ran out of feta. I asked why they wouldn’t call to see if that was ok since I can only have certain kinds of cheeses and they said they would bring me a free salad the next day to make up for it. So I called today to ask about it and the owner basically bitched me out saying his employee didn’t have the authority to tell me I could have a free salad and that the loss comes out of his pocket. I was like excuse me? I’m not the one who asked for a free salad, I ordered a salad from your restaurant and didn’t receive what I ordered. He should be thanking his employee for handling the situation like he should have instead of being an asshole. Learn how to talk to your customers! Never again.

We shared lamb liver and lule kebob for lunch. Is the lamb gamey? No…not at all! Lamb liver: it was gamey :( Lule kebob($ 9.50):tender and kinda rasty. I liked it better than the liver. The cook was very friendly and he actually checked to see if the food was okay. QUICKTIP: THEYALSOSERVEMEXICANFOOD! 3.5 stars Sultan Chicken is kinda yummylicious!

Sorry guys, 1 star only due to the fact of crappy customer service. This place is lucky because it’s in the middle of downtown that has this type of food. I’ve placed my order online, and it was an hour from the time it was placed to the time I received it. First and foremost don’t ever tell your customers«we always get our online orders late». We as customers, don’t know that you receive online orders late. If our confirmation email tells us our food will be ready in 20 minutes, we will be there in 20 minutes. I ordered a Beef Shawarma plate — if you’re familiar with this plate, you should know it’s on a rotating spit. I’ve ordered this dish a handful of times at Zankou and my local Mediterranean spot in The Azusa area… Same prep… Rotating spit. All you need to do is carve it, put the sides in the to-go box, and send me on my way. But if you can tell me why it takes an hour to carve a handful of meat — I sure as hell would like to know. This place is lucky because the food is great, but from my experience and also hearing my coworkers experiences, slowest customer service. Ever.

I appreciate your response but it is 8 months too late. I know you take pride in your menu but its also the same as other restaurants around downtown LA who knows how to prioritize orders as they come in. I want my food fresh but not after an hour. Thanks anyways.

Hands down the best steak kabob I have ever had. Walked in when they opened. Ruben was super nice and showed me the inside of my medium rare kabobs. It’s really refreshing to meet a chef who is proud, loves what he does and goes above and beyond to make sure something is perfected. Did I mention how fresh this place is? Freshly prepared hummus and rice. Eeeek. Thanks guys I’ll be a regular from now on!

I liked the food I ordered but I wasn’t happy it took over an hour for pick up. There was a snag when ordering from eat24. I didn’t get confirmation when I placed the order so I called the restaurant. The person who picked up the phone said she never got the order. I went on the computer to message eat24. The eat24 person who helped me called the restaurant and found out the fax was disconnected. You would think the phone person should have checked the fax before saying she never got my order SMH eat24 person said the order will be ready in 20 minutes. I understand lunch hour can be busy but I feel it is phone person’s responsibility to double check that my order wasn’t placed. When I finally go to the restaurant, they seemed very busy. I went up to this woman, who I assume was phone person since no other females there, and I tell her I have pick up. No smile. She wasn’t friendly at all. Maybe the staff is too busy to be friendly to customers. IDK I am hesitant to say I will order from here again.

Updating my rating from 5 stars to 1 star. Why? Simply put, the service. You will be ignored and watch your grandchildren grow old if you wait for your order like a normal human being. Don’t bother trying online ordering either– your order will be forgotten and it won’t be ready until it’s time for you to head home from DTLA. Another reviewer said it, «Sultan however does not know how to manage orders when busy. Orders were given priority to those who ordered online or to those who openly complained to the staff.» Anyone who waits for their order will be treated like a second-class citizen. [SERVICE] Round 1: I actually forgot why I stopped coming here. I walked past Sultan Chicken with coworkers and see no line. I blurt out«Let’s try this, it usually takes forever, but there’s no line right now!» Coworkers agree. I ordered 4 chicken shawarma wraps with my coworkers. We watched countless people come in after us, and leave after us with food in hand. After 30 minutes past our receipt order times, we asked for our wraps. The girls there reminded the chefs to «do the sandwiches» first. In time: 12:30PM Out Time: 1:05PMPST Coworker promised to sign up for Unilocal just to leave Sultan a review. Round 2: Coworkers and I know this spot is notorious for taking a long time. Made online order for wraps. Set pickup time for 1.5h in the future at 12:30. We arrive at Sultan at 1240. Order isn’t ready for pickup– woman explains they didn’t see it. We wait for our order. 30 minutes later, we get our wraps. After trying to bring people here for chicken shawarma wraps, I have to drop this to 1 star. [TASTE] For the only sharwarma joint in DTLA, Sultan is pretty good. [TL;DR] Learn from my mistakes: Don’t bother going to Sultan Chicken unless you want your coworkers to rage and sign up for Unilocal

yo. the hummus. i don’t even think i really even liked hummus all that much until i ate this hummus. i’ve made it before, and always buy it while grocery shopping in an attempt to be healthier, but it usually just sits in my fridge and then i end up throwing it away or feeding it to my friends who actually ARE healthy and eat healthy things like hummus as snacks. the hummus from sultan chicken is sincerely delightful. it tastes amazing and i can’t really say much more than that. i always order a side of it and eat most of it, and then eat the rest for breakfast with avocado the next day. everything i’ve ordered from sultan chicken has been amazing. whole rotisserie chicken was juicy and succulent and the meat practically fell off the bones. chicken kabobs were also great. the rice and garlic paste is on point as well. but dude. get the hummus.

If you’re looking for the most flavorful Mediterranean/rotisserie/Persian type food in DTLA, this is the place. It’s fast, inexpensive and a total hole in the wall. My only gripe is that it’s not open for dinner.

Used to be a fan of the place. Sultan however does not know how to manage orders when busy. Orders were given priority to those who ordered online or to those who openly complained to the staff. After waiting 40+ min for a simple sandwich I left without ever receiving my order. Your welcome for the free money Sultan

I got catering for my birthday party and made a deal with Alex witch seems to be the owner. 230 for my food so I gave him 100 and then the day off i would give him the rest. My boyfriend was the one to pick up the food and he was charged 150 for what reasons! Idk Not such a big deal to me but I’m sure that would have gotten other people mad The food is pretty decent so I would definitely go back.

Just started working in DTLA and have been trying as many spots as possible within vicinity… Food: Ordered the Gyro Plate and it was simply just OK. The meat was overcooked and almost crunchy. The Hummus was mediocre in flavor. The cole slaw or whatever was pretty gross. Rice was decent. Restaurant: This is more of a order and pick up spot. Although you can eat there, don’t expect it to be the cleanest restaurant. Service: I get that this is a family run restaurant, but I dont understand how they argue right in front of customers. Furthermore, the girl at the register(dyed blonde curly hair) is pretty damn rude with a no f*cks given attitude. Wont be returning any time soon. #SorrybutNOTSORRY

Quality food, modest set-up, hardworking operation. Craving rotisserie chicken and after spying some good Unilocal on Sultan Chicken, I walked a few extra blocks to try it out. Glad I did. Timing is everything, and I walked in just as a fresh batch of chicken flew the final mission — out of the oven. Delicious, moist, not crazy large, but rather a good, meaty size. Served with pita, hummous, salad — it’s a feast for under $ 10. More competitive than the handful of places I can think of. Service was friendly, brisk and felt like a large family was working together. A second visit was different in that there were many more customers in the small place. And, alas, the rotisserie chicken that I was jonesing for was all gone. D’oh! This was around 2pm, so maybe the lesson here is stop by sooner! I would have been fine with many other things on the menu, but when your heart is set on something… well, it’s hard to automatically land on something else. Fair enough. The best reason to be out of something is because it’s too good. And too many people know about it. So, please, do me a favor, and try to forget about this review — if I happen to be coming by that day. Thanks. Definitely walk over. Possibly sit out front where there’s a few tables. Pretty busy traffic, but if you’re cool with that, grab a seat.

Talk about hole in the wall restaurant. You can pass by this place and miss it easily except for the fact the smell from grill makes you curious. That’s what actually happened for me. It was lunch time and I decided to try Sultan. There isn’t much room here to eat but a handful of chairs with two chairs each. I looked at the menu and ordered a beef shish kebab. The lunch special came with a side salad, hummus, pita, rice and two skewers of beef shish. The food here is made to order so it does take some time from when you order which took about 15 minutes or so. The beef shish was okay. I thought it lacked some flavor and it was a bit overcooked to my liking. There was one piece that was chewy. Rice was good as so was the side salad that had a tangy minty vinaigrette. Hummus was pretty good with a lemon flavor which I like. It just lacked quantity. Not of enough hummus for the plate size pita. Overall the service was friendly. The owner, on the other hand, was a bit rude to his employees lecturing them in front of customers. Don’t expect the best décor out of this place. It’s not that clean either and the ventilation is next to none so you’ll smell like what you’re eating.
