Excellent coffee, plenty of parking especially on a weekend morning. Small selection of pastries. Well worth the visit if you are in the area.

This is one of LA’s première coffee shops(maybe even more of a Coffee Temple) and I have to classify it as one of the coolest I’ve ever seen. I love the industrial look of everything and the amazing glass windows that allow you to gaze upon the roasting process. Of course, the coffee itself is of amazing quality and it’s all expertly prepared. Two things that are a bit of a drag, though.(1) Parking is frustrating, and(2) there’s not much seating beyond the few tables they have outside. Other than that, I love it here! Highly, highly recommend for any coffee drinker living in the LA metro area.

Ahh I’ve heard so many good things about Stumptown and was so excited to try it! I believe they started out in Portland or Seattle, which are food and coffee meccas of the West Coast, and I’m so happy they’re finally here. My vanilla latte was to die for. Honestly, my favorite vanilla latte of all time! I also picked up some iced coffees to have in my fridge, simply because those little bottles are adorable! Yes, I’m an easy marketing target. You cannot even compare this to starbucks or coffee bean, it’s in a different league of coffee.

Love, love, love this place!!! The many times I’ve been here, I’ve gotten the perfect latte, with perfectly steamed milk, and beautiful latte art. The beans are always fresh and the staff is knowledgeable. Although they have some baked goods that look delicious, I always stop by the Bread Lounge and then head over to Stumptown for the perfect coffee/dessert combination. The line can get a little long at times, but the coffee is worth the wait. Parking can be a little difficult, but I’ve always managed to find something within 5 minutes. If you get a punch card, your 11th drink is free :)

Love the atmosphere and coffee here. I’ve had Stumptown before but never at an actual Stumptown shop. The baristas were nice and coffee was on point, which I already expected — I got both a hot and cold vanilla latte. I asked for no ice with my cold vanilla latte since it was for my bro for later, and I didn’t want to dilute it. Appreciated that they didn’t pour less to compensate for ice space like a lot of coffee shops do. Also got a White Miso Kouign Amann pastry which turned out nice, flaky, and derishious. The parking gods were ever in our favor today and we found a spot on arrival. But I can see how it can be difficult to find a spot. Street parking is free. In the back is a bean roasting room and a coffee brewing room(I think, it was dark). It’s pretty awesome how they show all the machinery through large glass windows. Creates a super hipster vibe with the great old school hip-hop playing in the background. There are ~5 tables outside to just sit and enjoy your cuppa joe while enjoying the DTLA atmosphere.

I love good coffee. Who doesn’t? Living in the Bay Area, one could say that we are kind of spoiled up here. When I travel, I hope for great coffee, but don’t often find it. I know Stumptown Coffee. I have actually ordered coffee from their location in Oregon. I was so excited to find that they had locations in LA. And I was not disappointed. I assumed that they were simply shipping roasted coffee from Oregon, but no, they actually roast the coffee at their LA location. Fabulous. Not only is their coffee wonderful, but the staff at this location was fabulous as well. Knowlegeable, service oriented, and cheerful. I was only in LA for three days, but showed up here twice. Easy location too.

The chocolate chip cookies!!! I went back and bought a second one for«later». But let me attempt a proper wholesome review here. Stumptown Coffee is in such a unique location. Old industrial turned retail… in the Art District. There’s some free parking within a block radius. The décor in this café is spectacular. I’m a sucker for exposed brick and beams. The best part is the huge windows to the back where the massive roasting equipment is. Beans are roasted daily. The latte I had here was delicious. I notice they also seem to be quite popular for cold brew, which I’ll have to try next time. Their beans are available all across the states, and in Canada I believe. I’m going to have to find some here, and hope it’s as good!

Happened to come here on a beautiful Saturday morning. Parking was street but we got lucky and found one fairly quick. The place set up was open and cute. The line was fairly long and there is quite a bit of wait to order your beverage of choice. I love how they have cold brew, sparkling tea, and better Booch kombucha tea on tap. Cashier was friendly. I’m amazed that there were only three workers considering how busy the place was. I couldn’t decide on what to get so I ended up getting a sparkling tea and an iced vanilla latte. Sparkling tea was delicious and refreshing. Vanilla latte was on point and does not have the burnt and bitter taste. They have plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. If I wasn’t too full, I would have ordered some of their yummy looking pastries but I will definitely reserve that for the next visit.

I’m not a big coffee drinker and wouldn’t know anything about a roast, blend or origin just by taste. But I can taste quality, and the folks behind Stumptown seem to be doing something right that sets them apart from their many, many competitors. I’ve been to their shop a couple times now while visiting friends in LA. It’s an open, high-ceilinged industrial space with a nice area to sit outside. It has that unavoidable hipster vibe, but that’s more due to the clientele. I went with my usual go-to, a mocha, and found it rich, creamy and satisfying. What really impressed me was their cold brew. I sampled my friends and loved the flavor and caffeine zing. It comes in a bottle so it’s nice and portable. I’d never go out of my way for a coffee(personal preference), but if I lived in the neighborhood I could see myself coming here quite frequently.

I’m not a coffee snob but I also don’t like to spend money at Starbucks for sub-par & burnt coffee. First time I visited Stumptown was to pick up a kouign amann to stash in my purse for later(Capricorns like to plan ahead). Though it was good, it was small and pricey. This time, I went to grab kouign amanns from Bread Lounge & got a large latte from them. It’s good & a better deal than some other coffee shops.

I’m not much of a coffee head so apologize ahead of time. I went on a Sunday morning and found parking right away. I love the décor, I don’t know how new this place is but everything looked new. I had the chocolate latte it was so delicious. Like I mentioned before I don’t know much about because I don’t drink it. Sorry, I know that may be an offense to some people. On the venture, I did find out however, that you can take classes to familiarize with the whole coffee world. I know I sound ignorant, its because I am when it comes to this subject. Anyway next time I go to a coffee house, I promise I’ll be more knowledgeable. Any who, love this place and hope you enjoy. Follow @foodgurula

I’ve been to Stumptown in DTLA on several occasions but it never delivered the kind of magic I experienced in NY. There is just no magic. I think the Stumptown in NY serves better brews and the atmosphere feels more classy and grounded, let’s just say, unpretentious. I am amazed at how silly the layout is in this particular location. Behind the baristas, we can see the roasting area through the glass window. The exposed«behind the scenes» area is generously spacious. I wish I could say the same for our end. Seating options: Option1(most desired): There are only five tables for seating. Assessing the crowd who are occupying the space, I safely assumed they will never get up during the timeframe I am in need of seating. Option2: There is a super narrow hallway space to the side with a narrow block of wood for a table and stools(more or less 7 seats). This space feels claustrophobic and undesirable. Even if we were desperate to sit, this section is full. Option3: My final option is the small counter area with no chairs. I don’t want to stand around I arrived earlier than my friend so I got a cup of latte but we had to go elsewhere because we just couldn’t settle with option#3. The only reason I am complaining about space is because they are located in a secluded area. You have to drive to point A to point B. If there are no seating, we can’t wander off to another place without having to drive away. That is annoying. And their music selection drives me nuts. Empty pretentious music with no content and annoying beats.:( I wish oh how I wish I can give a better review.

Just like Salt & Straw, Stumptown Coffee first started in Portland(year of 1999) and it finally opened its first LA shop in 2013. A visit here reminded me of my last trip to Urth Caffé in downtown Los Angeles — both coffee shops are locating in relatively run-down industrial neighborhood in downtown LA and Stumptown Coffee is approximately 1 mile away from the heart of the Arts District. Well, I guess this is only the early stage of gentrification(Bestia also happens to be right around the corner). Coffee tasting starts at 1PM each day and coffee cupping is only available at 1PM on Saturday and Sunday. Expect limited outside seating, a long bar table enough for only 6 customers, and free WiFi access. Menu — coffee, espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, latte, mocha, teas, cold brew(original, single origin, and nitro), cookies, etc. *** Miso butterscotch cookie($ 3): I know it is REALLY expensive for one piece of cookie, but holy cow it was incredible. Right sweetness, chewiness, and firmness(not soggy too). Yup … possibly one of the best cookie I’ve had to this date.(5⁄5) Cold brew, original($ 3.50, medium): I was a bit surprised by how acidic(sour) this cold brew actually tasted. Good aroma, but this was one of the most acidic coffee drink I’ve had.(3⁄5) *** I would totally come back here JUST for its miso butterscotch cookie. As for cold brew coffee … I will probably get something else instead.

Finally get to try their coffee at their roasting place. I had their coffee once in a NorCal coffee shop which was good. One thing I must mentioned is their cold brew. On the menu there are 3 kinds, regular cold brew, single origin cold brew, and nitro cold brew. However!!! on the day I visited they ran out of nitro cold brew! I did go for their single origin cold brew which was really good! The acidity was just right. We also had the cappuccino, which I felt it was a little over extracted. Anyhow, we bought a bag home to extend our enjoyment. Definitely a must visit place in SoCal food/drink trip!

Humptown — Why are men are like coffee? The best ones are rich, hot, and can keep you up all night. Dank. Straight up… dank. I’m going gangster up in this B, because it deserves it. I don’t mean dank in the proper sense as in disagreeably damp, musty, and typically cold. No no… I mean it in the Urban Dictionary way meaning an expression frequently used by stoners and hippies for something of high quality, in this case… very high quality. «That coffee was dank, man!» Is this a Beer Brewery? I really wish it was. It has the DNA of a great brewery massive warehouse with fresh cold brews coming straight off the tap, long bar for serving, food truck sitting outside, corn hole games outside, lounging areas with massive Connect 4 and Jenga… it’s perfect. The alcoholic in me wants the Nitro cold brew to be a nice smooth Porter sooo bad. Even looks like it when it’s poured into your glass with the haze flowing in the beer and topped off with a nice layer of head on top. You know a coffee is amazing when you don’t need to add a drop of anything else to it, when was the last time you could say you had a cold brew like that?

Eep. I hate going against the grain, but personally Stumptown Coffee was not my cup of coffee. We all have different taste and likes, for me the cold crew here was just a tad bit too acidic. Perhaps my tongue just isn’t accustomed to fine roast coffee, but as a caffeine addict, I do like my coffee to taste a certain way and unfortunately, Stumptown doesn’t do it. I would have to give it to them though, that the brew was strong! It took me a while to finish my cup. We came here as a big group late saturday afternoon. The space is small ish, with limited seating inside and 3 tables outside. Probably not the best place to study, but not a bad joint to study and be IN with the hipster crowd. We actually came for the kimchi/spam musubi croissant, but they ran out. Prices are a bit higher than average and the baristas aren’t too friendly, but i guess it all fits with the hipster vibe. Personally I definitely like Blue Bottle a bit more and Philz haha. But that’s just my opinion.
