Stay Bronzed

So I recently moved from San Diego to the Huntington Beach area and I was researching where to tan. Well I had long ago lived in Hollywood Hills, as soon as a Tanman scam thread popped up my heart sank. I can’t believe in my wildest dreams that this guy Adam is still allowed to run a business. As its well known they «revise» your contract to their liking. I just wanted to tan and instead I had to talk to my attorney to figure out a solution so they couldn’t dwindle my college funds any more than they had already. The saying goes «If it sounds to good to be true, it is.» I want to warn any family and friends as well as the general public, DON’T STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE! They will take your money so quick and leave you feeling violated that a company could even do that. I put that they are expensive because they charge your account way more than you signed up for. BIGGEST SCAM IN LA!

This place is a scam. I dont really wanna get al into it but about a year ago i was part of a class action lawsuit against this place with several others because its a total scam artist running the place. Adam acted like there was «corporate» but he was the one answering emails and charging my credit card after canceling. After a year or fighting with this place I can’t believe it is still In business. Be very careful. I lost lots of money.

So does anyone know what happened to these guys? I bought a month membership to these guys back in the beginning of Jan, a week later, they were closed… ummm? Relocating? Renovating? Anyone have ANY idea?

Tried out because of a groupon deal. Had a little trouble finding (on 2^nd floor in Wendy’s plaza) because of little signage. Guy at front desk was friendly and not at all pushy. I felt a little uncomfortable at first but after laying in platinum bed for 15 I almost fell asleep. What this salon is lacking in ambience it made up for in my bronze tan with no burning.

I used to go to tanman tanning, they also go by the name stay bronzed. Now they own zen glow. I used to love going to Tan Man here and loved the employees, but that was until I found out I was being scammed. There is no possible way to cancel your month to month membership in person, on the phone, or online. See they require that you cancel online. but here is the problem…
I went online in april of 2012 to cancel my membership because I was not using it and I was leaving the country. I got charged again in May before I left so I canceled again online. I thought for sure my account would be canceled. When I got back in the country I realized they were still charging my account. I had been charged over $ 130 for services that I wasn’t using and they charged my account even after canceling.
I had to contact the billing company, send multiple emails, and leave messages on an answering machine that TanMan will not check «we will not check any voice messages left on this system». I even had to get my bank involved and file a claim. I contacted every number on their website and emailed every email account. The email accounts are invalid. I also facebooked them, hoping I would here something back and be able to cancel my account. I heard nothing.
After lots of work, stress, and getting my bank involved I was finally able to get the billing company to stop charging my account, but I am still out $ 130 bucks and I feel as though I have really been betrayed.
I trusted Adam and his employees. I used to talk to them as if we were good friends every time I went in.
I am really upset that I was taken advantage of and I really hope that this does not happen to anyone else.: (
Please be very careful. Do your research. This company has been under investigation. Please let yourself become a victim of fraud like I did. I feel so taken advantage of it really sucks and its a horrible feeling.

Since Tan Man changed to Stay Bronzed improvements keep happening. The staff and management is friendly and helpful. They have been updating the beds, business and other small things which make a difference at a business. The beds are always cleaned before you enter. I am happy with being a member at Stay Bronzed. I recommend at least stopping by to check out the location and chatting with them. Plus it’s in my neighborhood. :)

I was driving yesterday, when I received a call from Zen Glow Tanning (Stay Bronzed’s sister property in Beverly Hills). The girl informed me that, since I’ve been to Zen Glow before, I could get a week of tanning for free. Too good to be true? Likely, so I called back to confirm. Sure enough, it was true.
I booked an appointment for a spray tan in their Versa Spa, which happens to be at the Hollywood location. While I’m all about free tanning sessions, there were a few things that weird me out about this place. First off, it does not look professional when you walk in. I get that it’s small and all, but having a couch in the tanning room that prevents the door from being opened all the way is just… odd. The front «lobby» area is also insanely crowded and feels unfinished. To me, ambiance and atmosphere are half of the experience, so you can see why I’m not fully pleased with the place.
The tanning booth was also off, but I let them know about how its verbal directions were not synced up with the spraying. I won’t hold that against them.
Also, can we do something about the website? It feels amateur and is not at all informative about location, hours, etc. In fact, it gives you an error when you first click on it only to redirect you to the Beverly Hills Tanning site. Branding is important, so pick a name and stick with it to avoid confusion and make it easier on your customers. I’d be more than happy to revamp it for you if you hire me!
I’m not sure how the price is since the first time I went to Zen Glow was because I had purchased a Google offer, which entitled me to a custom airbrush tanning session for $ 15. That deal was clearly too good to pass up. Now, I’ve received the week’s worth of tanning for free, so again, price is not an issue. My custom tan turned out really well and I am currently waiting for the booth tan to fully develop. It seems good enough so far.
All in all, it seems like the owner is trying to cut some corners and it’s really showing. Spend some time and money redoing the place and the website and you’ll be in business!

Great service. I love the Versa Spa with the moisturizer. Hours work for my schedule since they are open until midnight during the week. My new favorite place to get my always important glow :)

Horrible! I will never be back! The beds are old, they never change the bulbs, and they continue to charge your credit card even after you cancel your membership! Ummm… Isn’t that illegal!!!

I’ve been tanning here since moving to Hollywood almost a year ago. The customer service is outstanding, and the employees here are always friendly and pleasant. (especially Charlie!) The beds are great, always clean, and the prices are fair considering the area. I love this place and so will you!

I walked into this place and everything in my head told me to GET OUT! The place looked like a dirty dump, floors where dirty, the couch was old, and everything looked cluttered! I went into get a spray tan, so I asked the guy behind the desk about the packages, the guy was actually pretty cool, he was honest and actually warned me that the spray tan booth had, «mixed reviews» and told me to try it before I purchased a monthly membership. I said okay and agreed to do the $ 15 single spray tan special before I bought the month. OMG I got into the tanning room and first: it was filthy! I know spray tanning is messy but this place was NASTY, there was even an old used towel on the floor I was supposed to step on. Second: after tanning the booth door would not open, I was wet with newly sprayed tanner and I had to literally kick the door down to get out of the box to towel off. Third: after I toweled off I saw drips and streaks all over my arms and legs, and my shins didn’t even get sprayed. I was embarrassed to walk to my car I was such a mess. The only good thing about it was the guy working there didn’t even ask me to pay and was honest from the beginning. I feel bad for him having to work at such a crappy place that is obviously not taken care of or run properly. He was obviously really embarrassed. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR SPRAY TAN! I am just lucky I didn’t have anywhere special to go that night! phewww!
