Favorite dish and must have is the citrus French toast. Hands down best French toast ever. Cons: always a long wait and service is less than stellar.

Quite the emotional brunch experience today in Silverlake. Hands down to the best ooey gooey crispy fluffy French toast I’ve ever had. I need a cup of coffee, well it was«goodbye hangover» LOL. Seriously, you gotta try this breakfast spot.

I went back hoping for the same great experience… Eh~ I had the chorizo baked egg dish and it was decent, but the big disappointment was the hubby’s dish. They had a corned beef hash Benedict so he decided to go with that. The corned beef was more hash than beef, the egg was a bit over cooked, and the roasted potatoes that came with the dish was soggy. Needless to say, I was disappointed by the food. Great coffee though.

Great brunch spot in an unexpected location! They have an outdoor patio which is very lovely. On chillier days, they have heat lamps up and running so if the indoor seating is full, consider sitting outside. Chorizo burrito — if you love chorizo, this is the burrito for you. Super flavorful without being too heavy. Pico de gallo and guacamole sauces are the perfect complement. Huevos rancheros — wasn’t as salty as other dishes we’ve had elsewhere, but very tasty. The chips stayed crispy until the end(usually they get soggy very quickly). Can’t wait to try something on the sweeter side next time!

This place was in my bookmarks for years and I’ve finally paid a visit here, for breakfast. They have a wide range menu but you can check their chalk board on the wall to see specialties that may not be on the menu. I noticed the Pancakes topped with Whip Cream, Hot Pear and Pistachios. So, I went for it. This plate has three layers of pancakes and were made fluffy the way I like it. With the pear toppings made warm it gave it a hint of sweetness to it. I wanted to add more flavor, so I poured some maple syrup on top because the pancakes were light, but they were still good and stayed true to being simple. The other choice was the Portobello Benedict. I was amazed with the poached eggs and portobello mushrooms. The feta and hollandaise worked perfectly to give it a rich, savory, creamy flavor. The awesomeness didn’t stop there, the breakfast potatoes that came on the same plate was a side of tastiness. $ 5 for a glass of Horchata Latte. You can taste the grainy texture, which was a sign of good horchata followed by the milkiness and its worth a try. Overall, this place offers good simple, light meals and would define to come back. This casual breakfast spot is located right across the Scientology buildings.

I don’t get to this part of town very often but when I do this is the only stop I want to make. Prototypal menu is never boring and the delivery is first class.

I wanted to try a new breakfast place and this was conveniently close and was rated highly by other Unilocalers. The initial wait was 20 minutes but they were nice enough to let me have a cup of coffee while I waited. Once my name was called I was given the option of sitting inside or outside. The inside seems a little small and some tables were shared by multiple parties. Being slightly claustrophobic I chose to sit outside. The patio has a calm atmosphere and the tables are generously spread out. They have heaters and umbrellas so that adds to the comfortable experience. I ordered the shiitake omelet with egg whites and gruyère cheese. It was delicious. The cheese gave the omelet a tangy and salty flavor(which I love) and the country potatoes were the best I’d ever had. I also ordered a the French toast and, honestly, it changed my perspective on French toast. It was fluffy, light and out of this world good. I’d recommend it 100%. The staff is courteous and prompt. They make an effort to make you feel welcome and they are excellent at their job. My table never suffered from dirty plates or empty cups. I will most certainly be returning soon.

Best french toast I’ve ever had in my life! Even better than Mom’s. And I don’t say that sort of thing lightly. I was totally ready to hate this place. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, hangry, coffee withdrawn, and just all sorts of grumpy. I saw their Unilocal page and it looked like another hipster hangout with small portions, large prices, and douchey service. When I arrived there was a wait of 20 min which reinforced my prejudice. But then they let me get coffee while I waited and it was magnificent, each sip bringing me closer back to life… They turned my frown upside down with a fantastic breakfast burrito. They even did a substitution for my overly picky self, with nary a raised eyebrow, and the bacon they substituted for the cactus was thick, juicy, and crunchy on the outside. They topped it all off with spicy flavorful avocado salsa that nearly blew my mind. And if that wasn’t enough they had roasted potatoes with garlic that exploded in my mouth like flavor crystals, and ended with notes of basil. Oh, my, god. My last stop on this flavor train ended with the best french toast of my life. It was fluffy, almost weightless, topped with candied pecans, and freshly made whipped cream. It melted in my mouth and quite literally made my day.

Ate brunch here and simply put, delicious! PROS: breakfast potatoes, staff, patio I got the thyme/lemon chicken sausage omelette with Gruyère and breakfast potatoes. The breakfast potatoes were to die for! Some of the potatoes were a little undercooked, BUT the flavor is definitely one that I will crave! Garlicky and buttery! The staff was extremely attentive constantly checking in to see if we needed any more coffee or any help! :) So nice! The patio area outside of the restaurant is definitely trendy and perfect for anyone looking for a quaint place to sit! It’s a great place to bring your puppy! Extra perks to the staff for bringing out a doggie bowl for our pup! CONS: street parking, restaurant is hard to find The restaurant is tucked in the middle of a block and hard to see for any first timer! Also, you have to park your car on a very busy street. Immediate parking in front of the huge Scientology building is 4 hr metered parking although the rest of the parking in the area seems to be 1 hr only! Come prepared to pay your meter! Meters do accept credit cards! Overall: A great experience with a nice ambiance, great food and a wonderful staff! I would definitely recommend anyone who is a brunch lover to give it a try!

For those of who that have trouble finding the place, Square One Dining is located right behind the Church of Scientology. Once you walk into the little space and through the enclosed back patio, you’ll find yourself in a wonderful little area where you can chat away the rest of the day with your friends and family. The food is very good and pretty straightforward. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with potato salad to go along with a refreshing morrocan iced tea. The entire experience was great — from the good food, service, and atmosphere. I would definitely return here to try their other selections.

FANTASTIC! Definitely get the Salmon Benedict! I had the Classic Eggs Benedict as well but I preferred the Salmon one for sure. Square One Dining was an unassuming little restaurant with a back patio. On Sundays, there would be a line outside for brunch. I sat inside and had to endure lots of flies. Even with the flies I would give this place four stars because food was solid and service was great. I personally don’t think the french toast was that impressive, but it was probably because they didn’t serve the mixed fruit french toast on the day I went. I will try again next time.

One of my favorite places to grab some brunch! The restaurant is located across the street from the Scientology building. There’s plenty of street parking and depending on the hour, there isn’t much of a wait time. Came here this afternoon and this place never disappoints. I mainly order the eggs Benedict and French toast. The salmon and the portobello mushroom eggs Benedict are my faves. This place will continue to be a regular spot for me.

The servers are always friendly and attentive here, in my experience. They make great espresso drinks, with Intelligentsia beans. I rarely that I find a place that doesn’t over-cook their scrambled eggs, which means I usually avoid scrambles in restaurants, but square one cooked my scrambled eggs(mozzarella and smoked ham in them) perfectly. Not runny, but still moist. The way I would make eggs at home, over a very low fire. Time concerns usually cause restaurant cooks to use high heat, leading to an inferior scramble. None of that here. But enough about eggs. The buttermilk pancake I ordered on the side was just about what you would expect. Fluffy, and a nice light brown. Nothing special added(nutmeg, cinnamon… etc), but enjoyable. A far cry from the chewy excuse for a pancake you might encounter at lesser diners. The best part of the pancake, is the real maple syrup Square One uses. My only disappointment, was that the breakfast potatoes, the first thing I took a bite of, were nearly cold when they arrived. Though cooked to a nice texture originally, and well seasoned. I didn’t really have space for them anyway, with the eggs and pancake(not to mention the bites of my wife’s Egg’s Benedict), so this was no big deal.

I had one day to spend in LA after a couple days at Disneyland, and wanted to explore some of the highly Unilocal-rated food and was pleasantly led here. I ordered the portabello mushroom benedict with a side of breakfast potatoes, and Intelligentsia coffee. The breakfast potatoes! O M G! So good. Not sure if they are deep fried or baked or whatever but they are perfectly crispy and seasoned. Probably my favorite part of the breakfast. The benedict was pretty good but the hollandaise was a bit too spicy, like back of the throat kind of spicy. The quantity of portabello mushroom was also a bit disappointing. HOWEVER, overall good coffee, good food, just-right portioning, fast and friendly waiters. I’m happy. One thing I have to say. I don’t know the SoCal definition of hipster, but being from Seattle, I was not very impressed by the amount of hip exhibited by this restaurant. Yes, egg cartons on the ceiling and blackboards all around, but not *that* hipster.

Came here for brunch after hiking Griffith Observatory. Super cute, hipster ambience. The host and server were really polite and welcoming. We waited about 20 minutes and were seated outside. Daily specials were written on a blackboard. So many fresh options! We needed more time to order and luckily didn’t feel rushed(which happens often during brunch). I got the horchata latte with the salmon Benedict. Wasn’t disappointed. Parking is easy but seating options while waiting are limited. Stick close by otherwise you may miss your name when called.

Great breakfast spot in the East Hollywood area not too far from Silver Lake. I came here for breakfast around 9am and luckily we did not wait at all for a party of two. We even got to seat outside in the patio which I loved. I ordered the horchatta latte which was pretty darn good, a bit strong but I still enjoyed it. As for the food hubby and I decided to share our plates and we got the huevos rancheros which I absoultely loved! We also ordered the french toast with caramelized bananas on top. I thought it was good but not my favorite french toast. Staff was pretty nice and helpful, we had no issues at all with getting help. I will be glad to come again!

Very hip spot! Came here over the weekend for our«trying a new spot day». We were glad to have decided on this. Managed to get here early enough because we had read and heard it gets packed real quick. Were seated rather quickly and decided to go with the outside patio option. It turned out to be a great option. The food here was pretty good. We got the huevos rancheros and the banana and citrus French toast. We shared the dishes since we were told they were shareable and they were right. The location of this spot very interesting because it’s along a small strip with a few other shops. Parking isn’t easy but parked about two blocks away and the walk wasn’t too bad. The staff here was pretty good and friendly. We really enjoyed this place. If around the neighborhood I would definitely recommend coming for breakfast. The earlier the better. When we left about 9:45am we saw already a few people waiting. I will be back nevertheless.

I was coming home from getting my blood drawn and thought, hey, why not try that one brunch spot that always has people waiting outside for a table? Fortunately, it was early enough that I was able to choose a table inside — it was already full out on the patio, and it wasn’t even 8:45AM. Never underestimate the allure of a tasty brunch, especially when you’re Silverlake adjacent ;) Hehehe. I ordered one of the day’s specials, lemon ricotta pancakes. ALMOST chose the chorizo burrito(it was so close!), but man. Pancakes. There *was* a bit of a wait, but those pancakes were fluffy, moist, and lemon-y delicious. Worth it! My lemonade also really hit the spot :) By the time I left, there were people waiting outside. Moral of the story: go early! Thanks guys!

three egg omelet with chicken sausage, roasted tomato: 5÷5− Truth be told I am a huge fan of my omelet. I was reading reviews and I came across one review and immediately thought that I should definitely try the garlic thyme chicken sausage, melted Gruyère three egg omelet. First off, omelets in my opinion are easy to make. You just throw in some vegetables and protein and you get a beautiful omelet. However, this really took it to a whole other level. I usually would opt for a salad instead of the potatoes, but please just this once go with potatoes. i sure didn’t regret it. I felt that I had too much carbs after but it was worth indulging in the potatoes. The crunchy goodness made the potatoes so addicting. banana french toast: 2/5-I was quite disappointed with the french toast actually. I was expecting with my first bite to be engulfed by a wallowing pillow, but the fluffiness wasn’t there. Instead it was a dense soaked bread that I could have probably gone without. Cute patio dinning and seriously can’t get over how delicious my omelet was!

Cute brunch spot. They’re known for their French toast and I can’t deny that they’re yummy. I ordered the corned beef hash Benny, my friends had the French toast w cold toppings and rancho con huevos. Everything was pretty good and tasty. My fave of the 3 dishes was the brioche French toast. Service was great and pretty reasonable on a Sunday morning.
