A hole in the wall coffee joint that served a legit cappuccino that was creamy and sweet. My friend had the cold-brew and said it was tasty too. They use Stumptown and Coava coffee beans; both from PDX so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. Street parking is a bit of a pain, but worth the stop if you’re in the area.

Best cappuccino in dtla so far. The espresso drinks are delicious. Unfortunately, they don’t have pastries/food really(well they do, but they are not baked in-house), so go for the coffee. Also, they have non-fat milk(a rarity nowadays), but I definitely prefer my drinks w nf milk so I’m glad they have this option. It’s a small, almost hole-in-the-wall place. Aim to order and take your coffee to-go.

Maybe this is not my type of coffee! I asked for the famous latte. Wasted money! 4.50 for a small They charge .50 if you want to add a flavor They charge .50 if you want change from whole milk to something else. It was tiny, bitter and the staff was not friendly. I had to add creamer sugar to make it work

Before we start our adventures, we come down and stop right here for our coffee fix. I love to get my iced decaf Americano and my BF a half/half with their multigrain scone. We love this place. It’s quick and yummy and the baristas are so friendly! There are always cute dogs hanging out outside and I love to say hi to them. *note* these dogs are with their owners.

My iced Americano was really watered down and flavorless. Normally, I would just drink it anyway, but it was so gross I ended up tossing it out and grabbing a good one from Le Pain Quotidien around the corner. Two stars instead of one because the people working there were nice.

Great place and great coffee. Now, somebody get more tables here. Parking can be a nightmare too so make sure to be prepared to park somewhere far.

Everyone who works here is fun without being too sugary-fake-happy. They are genuinely an interesting crew with intelligence and good barista skills. I’ve never been disappointed in anything I’ve ordered to drink here, even when I ordered something different on accident! The front patio is great when you’re lucky enough to find a spot. Sure the interior may be compact, but it’s always tidy — which, I can’t say for bigger corporate places. The music is always fun and diverse which I can appreciate — the employees get to choose what they listen to !!! And I am a huge fan of their COAVA beans. Dig it here.

I passed by this place a few times looking for it because it’s so small. However, service is friendly and quick, and their cold brew is strong and tasty. It was just the pick-me-up I needed in the middle of the day. They only have three small tables outside, but it’s a nice place to sit, have a chat, and watch people walk by.

Some good espresso here! I ordered the Gibraltar. It’s not on the menu anymore but you can ask them. Service was fast and friendly. He explained what it was and said it was like a cortadito. Hey I like that, so for sure I will like this. And I was right it so bold and tasty. If this place was close by I would come back often. It is a tiny place. You can’t sit inside but a couple of tables and sits outside. It’s very cute hipster style. Great for people who live around here. Street parking or private owned parking. But you gotta pay. Dog friendly!

When I moved to downtown LA(DTLA) I was spoiled when it came to coffee. A girl from Brooklyn right down the street from Guerrilla Coffee, the living in San Diego dating a single source small batch coffee roaster… Believe me, I’d rather just make my own then spend $ 1 on shitty coffee. Thankfully I found Spring For Coffee. The owner Ken is awesome, the baristas know what they’re doing(if they don’t they’re new. They will learn!) I have a Gibraltar aka Cortado almost daily. They have organic low temperature pasteurized milk, which is by far better than the crap at Starbucks. My boyfriend get a quad shot over ice everyday. I’m not sure how he’s still alive… But that’s a different story. If you like amazing coffee this is your spot. If you like sugary burnt coffee there’s a Starbucks down the street.

Good place to grab a strong coffee but don’t expect to sit down and pull out your laptop because this place is tiny and has like two tables.

whoa, can this place be any tinier?! Despite the small size, I do like that there is outdoor seating. Anyways, I went with a latte(per usual) and it was delicious! I think they have Coava(which I have never tried before) and that was definitely a winner. Spring for coffee is an interesting spot and it would be nice to go back!

This place is cute, and very, very small. It’s a great place to stop by to pick up a strong cup of coffee when you’re not in a hurry. More of a «local spot» I’d say– considering parking is a pain in the a** in the downtown LA area.

My friend wanted to try this place out after seeing it next to the hotel he was staying it. Being an avid coffee lover, he explained to me the process of their pour over coffee. It was the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that. I was amazed at how much of a science it was to create a cup of coffee. It definitely is a show to watch them prepare and create a single cup of coffee. The Chemex Pourover process was a true presentation. The shop is a bit small, they had 3 bar stools at the window that faced onto the busy street. We sat and hung out for a while, watching people come in and out of the shop with their coffee cups.

It’s a challenge to find a good cup of chai latte nowadays. So I was really glad to have discovered this coffee shop after a bank run. I ordered an iced chai with soy and it did not disappoint. It had the perfect amount of spice in the flavors. The shop itself is relatively small with a few small tables and chairs outside. It’s probably not located in the best side of downtown but it’ll have to do.

Spring for Coffee is a solid and reliable coffee spot. The Baristas give great service and make well crafted drinks. Over the last couple of years I have brought friends and family over here for coffee. Neighbors and close associates gather at certain times of the day to watch the bustle of the street and support each other’s interests. Everyone I have invited has had a very positive experience with their chosen blend and conversations with my neighbors. The fact that there practically isn’t much of an employee turnover gives me confidence in the ownership/management. It’s cool to see the faces I’ve grown to appreciate through such a personable approach to service. I value Spring for Coffee because it’s a great place to get great coffee in the neighborhood quickly.

I just want to fill a bath tub up with Spring for Coffee expresso, and get intimate. I know, what a bizarre and ridiculous thing to say, but there is no rationalizing how ludicrously good their coffee is. Since I’ve had it, it has been the FIRSTTHING I think of in the morning when I wake up. It’s just soooo unfair that this coffee shop isn’t on my walk to work. I love their Iced Caffe Latte with soy milk and vanilla simple syrup. The strong expresso flavor wakes you up, and that little bit of creaminess from the soy milk just compliments the beans. IT“S SOMESOLIDASSCOFFEE. Their chai latte is also phenomenal. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order. This is a small shop with limited outdoor seating. The interior store just consists of a counter for ordering, and a small condiment counter with some coffee add-ons. It’s a get-your-fix-and-leave type of joint.

Ask anybody where you should get Stumptown espresso and a typical response will be something like this: «Go to Stumptown on 7th& Santa Fe in Arts District.» Trust me, you don’t wanna do that… If you want the best pulls of Stumptown in LA(or all of SoCal, for that matter), you must visit Spring For Coffee! Spring For Coffee appears to be more suitable as a place for grab ‘n go coffee as their super tiny shop makes one claustrophobic upon entering only to be exacerbated as just a few customers line up. It becomes increasingly difficult to enjoy a cup to stay as there are only a few tables and chairs in their outdoor patio area(Note: there’s nowhere to sit indoors due to cramp space dilemmas). Added the fact that many of their customers tend to enjoy a smoke with their coffee and pastry, a non-smoker will certainly opt for taking away their goods. While Spring For Coffee can be considered primarily a Stumptown espresso shop, they actually are a multi-roaster shop offering filtered coffee from various roasters such as SightGlass, Kuma, 49th Parallel, et al. But who cares if a coffee house features amazing third wave beans if the end product is horrendous? Too often I’ve visited specialty coffee shops left wanting due to unskilled, uneducated baristas. Such cannot be said about Spring For Coffee. In spite of losing talent over the years, the coffee program here remains strong. Cappuccino($ 3.25): 4.75÷5 I’ve had the privilege of drinking Stumptown Hair Bender espresso from coast to coast and in my experience, Spring For Coffee’s pulls are the best. Even though this is a bolder roast, you can rest assure that your cappuccino will boast a delightful natural sweetness and finish clean. Caffe Latte($ 3.75): 4.5 Spring For Coffee makes one of the better caffe lattes I’ve had to date, successfully creating the ability to taste bold espresso through higher milk content while maintaining a clean finish. Ginger Scone: 5⁄5 All I can say is… wow! Easily one of the better scones I’ve had as it was moist and loaded with a great deal of mouthwatering ginger pieces. I highly recommend this if you love ginger, otherwise you’ll probably want to steer clear of this one. Tri-berry Scone: 4⁄5 What a berry tasty pastry! This is kind of a berry scone sandwich. I’m used to berries mixed into scone batter and probably prefer it as such. This scone would have been tastier had it not been so dry. Organic Apple Raisin Muffin: 4.5÷5 Apple fans will seriously love this muffin and appreciate its moist texture and lovely apple flavor that is not overrun by raisins. Vegan Blueberry & Bran Muffin: 5⁄5 You had me at vegan! I am absolutely enamored by this deliciously dense pastry. Although at the time I would have liked a tad more blueberries, in hindsight, I think there was an appropriate amount to act as a compliment to the hearty bran flavor. Truth be told, I’m not a huge fan of Stumptown Coffee or darker roasted coffees but when that craving arises, Spring For Coffee fits the bill quite handsomely and are undoubtedly one of the best places for coffee in Los Angeles.
