I’ve been coming here every now and then since I got a bike for tune-ups and quick fixes, and it’s really as good as it gets for bike repair: reasonable, affordable prices, quick and efficient service, and a friendly and knowledgeable owner. Having just made another journey to get a tire and tube replacement, it really hit me how lucky I’ve been to find this spot. No need to wander into a fancy, intimidating bike shop for overpriced parts and services– this place is just what you need, and what you wish more daily errand interactions would be like. A whole-hearted recommendation!

I wanted to buy the tool to take my chain apart so I could untangle it, but they didn’t have any in stock so since I had the bike in my car they just helped me untangle it right there in a second, no charge! Very nice I will go back again :)

i’ve been here twice now & both times they serviced my bike on the spot & charged me very little. of course i tipped big but its a heck of a deal. they’re no longer on sunset(its a seafood restaurant now). they are directly behind their old spot. access through the used car lot

if your bike is stolen, look here first! we found three friends’ stolen bikes here in the last several years. it’s almost comforting to know you might find it here! this place used to be just about lame car stereos and accessories. then when bikes became popular, they started dealing in used bikes and awful repairs. their best bike guy finally left and set up his own shop down the street. but i wouldn’t go to either of these places — there are a few other places within two miles that actually care about cycling and aren’t just cashing in on the latest cool thing at any ethical cost.

Omar is knowlegeable in anything for your electrical needs. I’ve had no problems in my visits here since 2010. Omar and his team are polite and very helpful. Thanks Omar! –Richard

Was new to bikes, and the owner lied to me in so many ways. I practically bought a road bike that needed a few adjustments such as; brake wires, front cog shifter, new brakes pads, and practically a clean up and a new seat. Sold me a semi-used specialized seat for 40 $. Only good thing I saw in this 80 $ tune up was a clean up, and chain lubed. He did promise to make my bike look like new which was a thumbs up, but performance-wise(HORRIBLEJOB), My bike started squealing when I braked, and the front cog didn’t shift. I took it back to his shop to see what was the deal, and he told me I needed new wheel sets. About my bike not shifting to the big cog because technically it only shifted the the small and medium cog, so he told me my left shifter isn’t working. He tried to sell me a used shifter, with new wheel sets and I denied his request. So I took it to another bike shop named PerformanceBike, and they practically told me who ever did my tune up did a SH** job and it was dangerous. The problem was: My back brake pads were put on the wrong way, my front brake pads were put on uneven(so I had to buy a new set). They told me my shifter was working just that they gave me a 7-gear tune-up, when my bike is a 8-gear bike. Everything got fixed and my bike is working to it’s prime. PerformanceBike also told me my rims are in great condition for used wheel sets. SO!!! in conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend this mechanic/store Update: They put a mountain bike front dérailleur, did bad labor on the housing/front and back shifter, Apparently they used brake wires on shifters. Waste of 80 $ Tune-Up… Only good thing on my purchase was a USED«Specialized» Saddle for 40 $‘s.

Wouldn’t you know it… needed new tire and tube the day of Cyclavia and the shop near my apartment didn’t open until noon. Ran over to Speedworkz, was helped instantly by Omar. Quickly installed new tire on my wheel, paid and I was out the door ready to ride! Totally recommend!

Worst bike repair service ever. I took my bike in because there was a skip sometimes when pedaling. They told me a simple tune up would fix it, so I said sure. After holding my bike forever and being flaky about calling me back, they didn’t fix the problem and charged me for a tune up. The tune up was so bad, the brakes now rub in the back and squeak loudly in the front. I was cursing them when I was filling up my tires with more air the day after the tune up. What did I pay them for? Also the new crank I need was quoted at half the cost at another bike shop. Stay away if you need your bike fixed.

I bought my new car stereo from Speedworkz about a year and a half ago. I did a lot of price comparison shopping before discovering that I got the best deal from them. Omar has been nothing less than great to me. He installed the stereo for me quickly, and was very friendly. Here’s why I’m giving them 5 stars: my car is old and has weird electrical wiring, and the stereo shorts out when the power lock on the driver’s side is pushed down with the stereo on. Omar went above and beyond when I took my car back because the stereo needed to be reset. He re-set/installed the stereo so that it was working again. Unfortunately, I haven’t fixed the wiring in my car, so I need to do it again, but he’s been a great sport about it, and always very friendly.

I wanted to go to a local place to get an mp3 player installed in my car(instead of some big chain like Best Buy) and I feel like I totally got burned. Omar installed the mp3 player for me, and it works fine, although the jack only works for my old ipod and not for my new iphone. A little annoying, but okay. The first issue I had was when my battery died and I had to get my car jumpstarted. The mp3 player didn’t work anymore after that. So I took it back to Omar and he fixed it, saying the mp3 player just had to be reset. So I guess I’m going to have to do this any time I change the battery? A little weird, but okay. Then recently I noticed issues with my air conditioning controls(such as knobs not turning fully). So I took my car into the Honda dealership, and it turns out that when the mp3 player was installed, the cable for it was routed through the air conditioning controls, which caused the a/c dials to not be able to turn correctly! This is NOT covered by my warranty but thank goodness the Honda people were nice enough to just fix it and not charge me anything. Bottom line: GOSOMEWHEREELSEFORMP3INSTALLATION!

Took my bike here for new tubes and a basic tune up. They gave me the wrong size tubes and clearly didn’t do a tune up.

ok so i’ve been to this place before and got some semi decent help and service when i needed some new straps for my pedals. easy enough right? so they scrambled for some straps laying around in the mess they called a bike shop and they charged me a decent price, probably some random number they made up on the spot, and i was on my way. Recently however I found myself coming back here because its one of the only bike shops in the silverlake area. My pedals got jacked up because i had a nasty crash and I needed to replace them. I have an old bike and i know they sold old vintage bikes so i figured they might have some super cheap pedals for sale which was just what i needed. First of all when you go in this place you have no idea who to talk to or get help from. the random teens hanging out that seem to work there also or the old men who look like they work on cars not bikes. Whatever the case they all don’t communicate very well and english is lacking. I ask for pedals and the guy points me to some old ones on a bike and decides to sell me those. I agree but did I ask for used parts… No! I ask for the price and he rambles off 35 $. Whatever, I agree. Soon enough I go home and wonder what just happened. I was ripped for sure. I look online and see brand new pedal sets including straps for 35 $ but i’m stuck with these decently worn old ones. WTF! They target people who don’t do their homework first and its poorly run. I honestly think these kids hanging around there steal bikes in the area, switch the parts around, paint them and sell them in the shop. Who knows? bottom line: Be honest with people and run an honest business and don’t sell old parts for prices higher than new ones because you don’t carry them just to make a sale. Don’t support this shop

Drop by with a bicycle that needs a new innertube. Wait while the guy talks shop with a non-paying patron. Finally get service. Quick install, but I go to ride out and the brakes are too tight. Come back. Told I should have turned the emergency tightener. Ride out again. Tire isn’t aligned properly. What kind of service is this?

So, I came back to speedworkz to get my radiator changed, and to my surprised in addition to changing my radiator, I found that the main garage has turned into a bike maintenance place. I found a new employee working on a couple bikes with customers waiting for what looked like a couple of tuneups and other things. So now they do bikes as well.
