I’ve been eyeing this hole in the wall since it opened. Who doesn’t love soup? Keeps you warm on the rare cold LA days, fills your tummy with delicious and mostly nutritious food, and pairs well with salad or sandwiches! Seriously, soup is the shizzle. And a place like soup bazaar is onto something great. In windier and colder places like NY and SF, soup bars are a known thing. They serve up varieties of soup and salad and sandwiches for a good, healthy lunch that warms you up quick. LA, we don’t have many of these cuz it’s just warmer. But, at least the one we have here in DTLA is good! The mushroom soup is dreamy. Rich, perfectly spiced, and decadent, it rolls off the tongue. The tomato basil is hearty and thick, and pairs perfectly with their grilled cheese. In addition to the staples which are always carried, there are variety soups available everyday, such as creamy curry chicken or split pea and ham. The salmon avocado salad was ok. Taragon dressing didnt quite fit with the flavors and it would’ve been nice to have grilled salmon on top of the salad instead of smoked. Grapefruit was a nice addition, and the portion was big. Overall, I’d come back, but probably stick to the soups.

Their soups are pretty good, specially the Orzo Lemon Chicken Soup. And, I would give it 4 stars if it wasn’t for two issues: the parking(is really hard to find) and some members of the staff(specifically the cashier/delivery guy) are kind of rude and makes you want to order to go. But, besides that, the food is really good.

Tomato basil is really good and that’s coming from someone who hates tomato soup/bisque.

Fresh soup, not over salted or fatty, but too thin for the price I think. Not enough ingredients in it in my opinion. I wish chicken soup would not have garbanzo beans because not all peoples GI system can tolerate them. Otherwise I liked the place. It’s clean and staff is very friendly.

Just met the Mother/Daughter duo at the Pershing Square Farmer’s Market and really enjoyed their soups. Really good samplings of the Tomato Basil and the Clam Chowder soups; I’m really looking forward to trying other selections from their restaurant. =)

I checked this place out online and the reviews were good so thought I’d try it. I love soup and am always looking for something besides Phở. The food here is really good. I had the Mushroom soup. It had a great flavor to it with more than enough mushrooms. It was rich without being too heavy and tasted like the soup you would have at a really good restaurant.(but better) I also had the grilled ham and cheese. Great sandwich, good bread and plenty of filling. It was my first time here and I could have used a little more direction from the staff. It was a little pricey for soup and a sandwich but maybe they have a special. I was not told of anything. Overall I think it is a great place and I love that soup is the focal point. I look forward to trying other things on the menu because I am sure they will taste good.

Originally I gave this restaurant 5 stars. The food is great. However the portions have been getting smaller and smaller. I love the new quinoa salad with artichoke hearts. However the portion size is way too small for $ 10.

The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because the parking is difficult… BUT don’t let that detour you. I’ve been here many times and the soups are always delicious and fresh. However, today I had the Brazilian Coconut Shrimp and it was life changing!!! This soup alone would get over 5 stars!

This is a cute little diner with a modern feel specializing in nutritious homemade soups, salads and sandwiches and offering affordable combos. I’ve had the fig and faro and the cilantro salads and the tortilla soup, lentil soup and potato leek soup. They are batting a thousand, and they deliver, though I’ve never ordered out from them.

Had the chicken soup and tostones. Soup came with fried capers and rice. Tostones were crispy and came with three dripping sauces. The soup was awesome and the capers was a nice touch.

Great place for a quick grab for lunch during the weekday. In a little non descript part of downtown so not easy to spot by worth the effort. I ordered the roasted vegetarian sandwich that the order taker heard as the«roast beef sandwich» probably because 2 others(of us 5) got that and they sound the same(I guess?). Either way, got the sandwich and had my doubts but thought it was just the eggplant that was brown. Took one bite and realized it wasn’t. The chef was really nice to quickly whip up a veggie SW for me and offered me some tomato soup as I waited(which was yummy!). Great service. Would come back for sure.

Yum yum yum! I had a craving for something healthy but didn’t want salad– this place hit the spot! I got the chicken, potato and corn soup. It’s served with rice and these delicious dried salty capers. I normally overload soup with hot sauce– but the flavor of this soup was so good I didn’t even need it. The soup was also not overly salty– I’m sensitive to msg– and all of their soups are free of it! Definitely will be coming back!

This place is pretty good! I came here with a group of 7 which included 2 kids. When we got there we were able to all sit together at three tables(only because a couple of people left as we were entering). We were able to sample the soups before making our choices. I decided on the chicken potato & corn soup while my fiancé had the mushroom soup. Both tasted great, but the corn in my soup was actually hominy. We also ordered a sandwich to share which was the rosemary chicken. Everything tasted great. Some of the other orders in my party were the chicken avocado salad, pork sandwich, and grilled cheese with fries for the kids. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We left happy and satisfied. If I’m in the area I will definitely return.

I decided to check this new place out since I work around the area and saw the reviews from the other Unilocalers. Its a small little place. Once you enter, there is a complimentary water(which I failed to see until I left the place), and was greeted by the cashier. The menu was posted on a chalkboard behind the register. I was also handed a paper menu and was told about their soup specials. I decided to order a salad which was their Cilantro Salad instead because it was 80 degrees out. It was served quickly in a large bowl. It tasted great! The dressing was similar to El Pollo Locos dressing. Presentation was nice. Alot of customers come in and gets crowded as there are not enough seats. You can also ask for samples to taste their soups. I will be back soon for their soup and sandwiches when its my cheat meal day.

Yummy! Chicken soup was so fresh with lots of herbs and just a hint of salt! The sweet Potato fries were presented with 3 sauces(mayonnaise, ketchup, and dressing). They seemed fresh hone cut and were perfectly salted! I had the tuna(to die for)! Hubby had the grilled cheese(staple yummy). Too good! We will be back!

This new soup and sandwich café right smack dab in the Historic and Fashion Districts of Los Angeles. If you hug the Pacific coast and the Westside like me, it’s a whole new world. In terms of parking, there is a lot very close to it($ 12 maximum). Soup Bazaar was worth the trip. I ordered the tomato basil soup, which came with 2 pieces of fresh and soft French bread(a nice touch). The tomato soup was just right: not too watery but not too mushy either. It came in a nice big bowl. The sandwich I ordered was the grilled cheese, which was very good, and came with some salad greens. My friends ordered a dish of fried plantains(the chefs/owners are Costa Rican), butternut squash soup, and the chicken rosemary sandwich. All of these dishes were well received and eaten up with gusto. To drink: some bottles of Perrier. The service was friendly and prompt. To top it off, I had a powerful little cup of espresso: a real one, not the brownish-tannish bath-water that passes for a doppio these days. Worth the visit! I wish it were closer to where I work.
