The atmosphere is welcoming and it has a very nice community feel. But the quality of the food is very hit and miss and today was a big disappointment. My $ 9 bananas foster crêpe was inedible due to the mushy mess they consider to be carmelized bananas. They were not carmelized, they were over cooked and the consistency of baby food. I’m posting a photo.

Holy crap. I’ve been trying to give this place chance after chance. I can’t believe I went back. They never get your food order right. I’ve ordered crepes where the cheese inside is still cold. Today was the real breaking point. I ordered the«Nics Special omelette». When they brought it out, it was completely missing cheese of any kind, it’s supposed to have mozzarella. I told the female manager it was missing cheese, she took it to the back and brought it back 2 minutes later with cold shredded cheese literally just thrown on top of it then walked away without saying a word. I’m not over exaggerating. They didn’t even pretend to melt it. Felt like a big«F*%# you». I took it to the counter myself and complained. They then threw it in a microwave. I left without eating it. Absolutely appalling and passive aggressive. Byeeeee Solar. You’ve lost yet another local.

Do not get the overpriced food here. I come here to sit and read with coffee. They blast really loud music here at night, which is weird if you look around the café, most people are doing work, so why blast loud music?

I live nearby so for the last 4+ years I’ve been going here. I used to order from here regularly, but the food quality and service has gone downhill. Service is slow overall, even if I come in while they’re empty. The only thing I can recommend here is getting coffee to go if you don’t mind sitting and waiting for a while and spending around $ 5 for a coffee :-/ As some other viewers mentioned, the food has become bland and sometimes extremely greasy. Their chicken pesto panini used to be my favorite thing on the menu, but I had one to go experience where it was so greasy that the bread was dripping. I gave it one more try and it wasn’t very tasty, so I stopped eating their food. I also had an experience where I ordered to go and after waiting about 45 minutes I called back and was given a story about how they accidentally started the wrong order. I believe it was about 1 hour and 15 minutes till I received their warm rice salad, so it was cold and mushy. It’s no longer worth the prices.

2 Stars because it’s spacious and warm inside. I hate coffee shops that blast AC because I get so cold that I can’t concentrate on my work. The service was friendly, too. I frequent coffee shops around LA so I think I can fairly be a judge on this topic. I ordered an iced coffee(cold brew) which is basically refrigerated coffee that is poured over ice. I paid $ 4.79 cents for this, a new record. Just to give some context, Starbucks charges $ 1.95 for a tall iced coffee. I’m not a numbers girl, but I’d say that’s like 2.5 times as much. So after I paid I thought to myself, «This better be the best effing coffee I’ve ever had for that price» when I tried it, I couldn’t believe my taste buds. ITWASHORRIBLE. As another Unilocaler described it, «coffee tastes like murky water» The sad part is, I could’ve had a cup of murky water for free. This place is the definition of a rip off!

This is an amazing spot to just kick it. It has an outdoor area in the front and in the back, cool art work and it even has a water feature in the back! The ambiance alone makes this a great place to come, have a couple meetings and surf the internet. The coffees, lattes, etc are great but what really does it for me is that they offer freshly juiced drinks to go — and they are DELICIOUS! All of this said, the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the food is pretty pricey considering the quality. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good and the portions are large, but there is something missing. All in all, eat drink and be marry — it’s an amazing place.

I don’t know why I keep coming back to this café. The food is well over priced for the quality. As is the coffee. As is the juice. My friends don’t understand why I frequent Solar. I had brunch here once and was intensely sick afterwards. I ordered the Benedict. I’m rating three stars because something keeps me coming back. Maybe it’s Because I live 2 minutes away walking. It can’t be the wifi which is slow by any standards and is a coin toss of reliability. It’s like an abusive relationship. You treat me horrible. You feed me cafeteria food. The coffee is okay I guess. But you have a certain charm that can’t be put into words.

I came here for breakfast last weekend while I was getting my car serviced across the street at Bert’s Garage. I ordered the breakfast burrito and got a caffe latte. The breakfast burrito was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The ingredients were very fresh and you can really tell the quality. The coffee here is hands down some of the best coffee I have had. I also had orange juice here and it was freshly squeezed. The food and drinks are a bit pricey here, but it is well worth it. The staff was also super friendly and the food came out pretty fast. I will definitely come here everytime I’m in the area getting my car serviced. There was other things on the menu that I really want to try next time I’m here. In the bakery section the desserts looked amazing as well.

Pure service alone, I was gonna leave & never return after ordering the brunch enchilada crêpe… Because, clearly I didnt enjoy it & was offered to exchange my meal! WOW, I dont feel so bad after all for dropping $ 19 on a horrible crêpe & coffee breakfast. I was nervous about not tipping up front & figured id get bad service. This is pretty much a self service restaurant with an occasional check in from staff. When someone noticed I didnt eat my meal & offered an exchange I was SO relieved!!! They were all so gracious & apologetic for recommending the crêpe I WILL return! Thank you!!!

The only thing awesome about the space is the parking the fact that it’s a coffee shop in Hollywood back if you get here early you can kill time here the furniture is pretty old and scratched up but that’s what makes it pseudo-a fordable the other thing is the service is not that great they definitely expect a tip and there’s really barely any smiles no I contact no friendly communication as well as they really Love thing the words for here to go and they really want you to go the less contact and communication they can have with you the better the bagels were dry the bread pudding with so sugary and over cinnamon like super dry I’ve never had such dry bread pudding in my life

Solar de Cahuenga offers a wide variety of breakfast choices ranging from vegetarian friendly dishes to deliciously sweet crepes. They tea and coffee selection is also extensive. The atmosphere reminds me of Starbucks’s. Dim lights, dark wooden furniture and lots of customers working on their laptops while sipping their freshly brewed coffee. My go-to choice is the chicken omelet. It comes with various different veggies and tasted great with the side salad and avocado. Prices are very competitive and portions are generous. I would recommend this café, especially to those who are awaiting for their car to get fixed across the street.

My wife and I came here for breakfast on our last day in LA. We had the following: Chicken Omelette $ 13 Pancakes with mixed berries $ 10.50 The food was good. The only thing that made me give this café 3 stars was that the grilled potatoes the omelette came with was served a bowl and I noticed a puddle of olive oil in it. I know olive oil is healthy in moderation but the potatoes at the bottom of the bowl were quite greasy and unappetizing. When I ordered our food, I noticed there were a couple flies going on the freshly baked goods which made me think that they need to cover their food more properly.

I’ve been living in the neighborhood of Solar for about 4 years now. When we first moved, I used to go fairly regularly because it is the closest coffee shop to my house but stopped going after a few months because of the high prices and lack of interesting menu items. I finally decided to give it another shot for lunch on a Sunday and was really disappointed with my experience. My chicken and artichoke«panini» was really sad. The bread was huge so even though it had been put in a panini press the majority of the sandwhich was bread. The chicken was dry and the other ingredients sub-par. I choose fries on the side. They were super soggy. Possibly because I got them to go and I think the steam filled up in the container on the walk back to my house(only two blocks away). But they also were not well seasoned and overall very boring. Iced coffee was good. But I ordered a small and it ran me $ 4. Geezz. My total for the whole lunch was $ 17 + tip. Way too much especially given my poor experience. Positives — friendly staff, quick service and great that they have a parking lot — hard to find parking in this area if you don’t live nearby!

This spot is very yucky. Lots of things make me not want to return. I got the chicken sausage breakfast. My bf got the steak and eggs. My sausage was sour. Sent it back. Not good. They remade it, still wasn’t good. It was just smashed and gross. My bf said his steak was juicy, but flavorless. .even with the chimichurri sauce. Also he asked if he could have mushrooms instead of potatoes as a side(the side comes with the entrée). They said it would be a $ 3 up charge which he declined, yet there were no potatoes with his dish when it came. Lol. He was also kinda grossed out that the cashier put the tea bag in his hot water with his fingers after handling money. The staff was nice, but the cashier in charge of the line didn’t seem to know how to input things in the computer and had to ask other employees how. It just wasn’t good. …lucky for him it wasn’t busy. Not all was lost though! My organic chai almond milk latte was great, hence the second star. I’d say this spot is great to grab a coffee or tea to go, but that’s it. The food is blah. I’m still hungry. Boooooo! * This review originally had 2 stars. About an hour after eating here, I had diarrhea. I amended down 1 star. Never again.

What a disappointment, I’ve been living down the street for 6 years and just now tried it for the first time and will not be returning. The juice was pretty good The chicken pesto panini was disgusting and tasted like the char from a grill that’s never been cleaned, it literally tasted like I was eating a grill brush Somehow the Nutella crêpe also tasted like char from the grill and the strawberries were so old that they had changed color from red to a greyish pink They also wouldn’t let us park in the handicapped parking because they were using it for valet No wonder none of my neighbors have ever recommended this place, oh yeah, and the pastries in the front had flies on them

I WOULDLIKETOGIVENEGATIVESTARSIF I COULD! Who knew I’d be writing another update review within a month for this place. My go-to coffee shop has thoroughly disappointed me… They normally close at 12 am. BUT I was notified 4 minutes before 11pm that they would be closing at 11 pm for their employee meeting. I told a few employees that I was finishing my paper and I MUST use the WiFi for an additional 15 – 20 minutes and pleaded for them NOT to the turn off the WiFi. I was reassured a COUPLE times by different employees that I did not have to leave the outside patio and that they would NOT turn off the WiFi. One employee said,“We are technically closed but you can stay and chill out. That’s passive aggressive to turn off the WiFi and we would not do that…“ I’M SUREYOUGUYSKNOWWHERETHISISGOING… YES, they turned off their WIFI and I missed the cut off time to submit my paper online… THISPLACEISROYALLY F*CKEDUP! If I ever have any time sensitive assignments, I will NOT be here. I spend about $ 60-$ 80 here WEEKLY and this is the thanks I got.
