It was recommended by a friend and since I LOVE deukbokgi so much, I went with a friend. We were very pleased with the dish… although it was bit too spicy. The place is clean, has fairly decent service and is good overall. I’m actually going there again tonight so we’ll see if this review needs editing… ** UPDATE** This place no longer exists. It closed down. BUMMER! Need to find a new place that has good deukbokgi.

Update: I just showed their business card to my coworker, and he said that it has jjol myun on the little menu on the back! Crap, maybe I didn’t ask right? I guess next time we’re in LA, I’ll try it again. 3.5 stars. On our way back up to NorCal, we decided to stop by and try some ddukbokki in K-town. I found this place on Chowhound and my Korean friend mentioned this is also a restaurant in Korea. From the name(actually Sin Dan Dong Stir Fry Rice Cake), I had high expectations. I was expecting to see my favorite dish served up in many variations, but there is only one version served here, Rabokki. I briefly asked about Cchol myun but from the reply, I don’t think they had it. So I went ahead and placed my order for Rabokki to go. They considerately wrapped my dish in foil which went in a to go box. They also gave us some yellow radish panchan, potato salad, and a cold soup as well. I thought that was a nice touch. The rabokki itself was ok. The sauce was thin, and on the sweeter side, with not enough heat for me. It came with a dduk, ramen noodles, hardboiled egg, fish cake, an egg dumpling, green onions, and carrots. It’s a pretty good size portion and I only got through half of it. $ 7.99 for the lunch portion and $ 8.99 for dinner. I paid the latter price at 11:30am, «Sunday» was the reasoning. The elusive Ccholbokki has eluded me once again. =(
