Save a Penny Market is a neighborhood grocery and meat market. They sell cigarettes, Lotto, stamps, and cold soda(including Rock Star and Monster). There’s an ice cream cooler with the usual Good Humor ice cream sandwiches and Snickers Ice Cream bars. The meat counter is nice, with a selection of cuts of beef, pork, and chicken, as well as sausage. There is always a selection of fruit, but rarely any vegetables. The refrigerator section is sparse: they stock milk, eggs, butter, manteca, and hot dogs. The rest is various cans and bottles of soda. The store carries a variety of canned goods and some tortillas, but mostly stuff I’ve never heard of. They also have TONS of paper napkins and styrofoam plates, cups, and«to-go» boxes. What they DON’T have: beer, liquor, your prefered brand of anything. They do NOT take credit or ATM cards. They have a photo copier and claim to be able to send faxes. There is an ATM on site. It charges $ 1.25. They open late and close early.
