Whaaat, Ruby’s Diner is closed :(likely due to renovations. I really liked this place and don’t understand what the fuss is all about. Just get your burger and fries, and leave(which is what I did). I sat at the bar people watching and felt SO bad for the employees. People here are in a rush and are constantly throwing hissy fits. Like, calm down, your burger is coming and if you needed it sooner, you should’ve came sooner am I right or am I right?

Lazy lazy workers here, with zero incentive to make the customers happy until construction finishes. I asked them if I could substitute my fries with onion rings if I just paid a little bit extra, but the woman at the cash register refused to do so. She insisted that I pay for an entirely NEW side order of onion rings in addition to the fries I got with my sandwich. That is ridiculous. I’ve gone to other Ruby’s locations plenty of times, and I know they have the option to make the switch on their cash register. Also, they burnt my fries. This is a shameful excuse for a Ruby’s diner.

I knew what I was getting into as I saw the reviews, but what choice did I have? I was hungry and the only other option at terminal 6 was equally disastrous. Terminal 6 is undergoing significant remodeling, and Ruby’s Diner hopefully will be included in that plan. It is worn and beat up. The laminate countertop was peeling in places, the tiles cracked, grease stains permeated the backsplash, the colors are faded. The condiments were inconsistent as some tables had mustard, but no ketchup or pepper and sugar but salt was a rare commodity. Yet, there was a line of twenty people ready to place an order because the pickings are slim. The cashier was pleasant, but not overly talkative. The cheeseburger is very expensive for what you get. When it came out only ¾ of the burger covered the bun as it looked like a chunk fell away. It was ok, not particularly flavorful, and rather greasy. I scraped away the lettuce because it was wilted, and then decided to ditch the tomatoes to play it safe. The French fries were actually rather tasty, but I imagine since it was so busy that none of the fries had any time to sit in the fryer for very long. I can’t chalk this up to «airport food» because I have eaten delicious meals at SeaTac, Minneapolis, Orlando, and others. LAX terminal 6 desperately needs a cuisine infusion.

Overall tasty with a nice seating area, though not overly friendly or cheap. Food — The home fried potatoes were pretty tasty, with a salty parsley seasoning. IThe egg muffin sandwich was also tasty, and both came out hot. Service — The cashier was not very friendly, but was efficient. After ordering it then took less than 5 minutes to get our order. I think the workers just seemed busy and perhaps unhappy. Pricey — Expensive, but not moreso than most airports. Home fried potatoes were $ 3, a yogurt parfait $ 6, and the Egg Muffin sandwich $ 10. Seating — There were quite a few seats, and about 10 of the tables have a direct view out to the planes. So this was a huge plus.

This restaurant is located right around the corner of Terminal 6, before you start heading down to American Airlines’s Terminal 4. The burgers are expensive, but they’re pretty darn good. I had been traveling for upwards of eight hours, with a total of eight more to go to Hawaii, and I was famished. Not having many quick hot food options nearby Terminal 6, I wandered into Ruby’s. Big, hot juicy burgers sounded AMAZING at the time. You stand in line, order and they give you an order number on a card, and they deliver it to you on whatever table you choose. So, quick tip, if you want the server to see you the fastest, have a seat right in front of the bar further in the restaurant — otherwise they have to search for you. General positives include how truly succulent the bacon cheeseburger was. The Ruby Sauce, which is most likely a seasoned mayo mix of sorts, was a really nice touch that didn’t drown the burger. The fries were your average skinny fries. I also enjoyed how the place was going for that«Fifties feel», which really complimented my «on the go» pace of the day. A few drawbacks: The lines. The lines are always long, and often people don’t decide what they want until they get to the counter. The girl on register was also clearly irritated with being at her job, so the initial run-in with customer service wasn’t the greatest when I visited. The table cleaning isn’t consistent, likely because the lobby is constantly full. One nice thing that I thought added to my experience was how sweet and kind the old Hispanic server was to me. When he delivered my order to my table, he smiled very sweetly and told me «Please enjoy, my dear» and hustled away. When I found that my ketchup bottle was empty, I walked up to the bar and asked for another bottle. He nodded, so I walked back to my table and waited. Less than a minute later, he came back hustling with two bottles of ketchup, looking for me, and immediately smacked his head in the«d’oh!» fashion and said«It is you! I am so so sorry», with the goofiest, grandpa-style cross-eyed look ever. I was so tickled with how quirky he managed to be, despite how bustling and stressful their restaurant got. I never got his name, but hopefully you get him as your server as well. In summary, I’d come here if you’re looking for a nice hot burger and have that $ 12 to fork for it. Especially on those long traveling days, this place hits the spot big time. Just make sure you have ample time to kill before your next flight — I’d say at least two hours, so you have time to find your terminal /gate, situate yourself there, and still take your time to enjoy your food.

Horrible lines, slow service, staff that seems like they could care less, and the prices are odd. It’s $ 0.30 to add bacon to a burger and $ 3.00 to add it to a breakfast sandwich. Really?

Came here for breakfast on my way out to Santa Rosa at 7AM yesterday. They do not have much of a selection for breakfast, like 3 items. I decided on the breakfast burrito with no beans. Do not need gas while sitting on a flight full of people. LOL I could not believe a small water and that burrito was 15.00!!! It only had scrambled eggs and salsa, not even any cheese! WTH??? The place gets crowded with a long line too, no where to sit. I know airport food id expensive, but DAMN, let it at least have more to it!!!

While others have hoped for the ability to give a zero rating… I’ve gotta say that would be too generous here. Anyone traveling thru LAX know terminal 6 is a barren wasteland when it comes to food and drinks… but Ruby’s take it one step extra to further the let down that is this terminal. It’s a burger joint.(Though I must admit the sandwich the guy across from me had looked good piled high with roast beef) My order: Swiss and mushroom burger… lol here they think nasty white American cheese is Swiss… let down. Appears you can pay a dollar and upgrade the fries to extra levels of scariness or swap them for bagged chips(do that… trust me… just do it) but you can’t upgrade to onion rings… So I went with garlic fries. When my order arrived it had a big pile of cold fries, I pointed out they weren’t garlic fries and the server quickly took them away to dump a scoop of garlic oil(mostly oil) on them. Ugh. How is it that Seatac and Portland airports can have decent food options but very few others? Hell I’d have rather hit a Donald’s or a King… not at T6 though… Best eat before coming to LAX…

It’s a place to get quick food when you are hungry at the airport. I got a roasted turkey sandwich. It comes with French fries, whole roast turkey with cranberry jam, mayo, lettuce and buns. The portion was big. I ate half of the sandwich and save the other for later. Make sure you tell them to put it in a to go box if you are not going to finish the whole food.

Coming here when they first open in the morning can be challenging. The staff is friendly but a bit slow to get going. The food is average. If you are in a rush to catch a flight I would not recommend this spot. If time is on your side, have a seat and enjoy the water. Cheers!

Breakfast with Ruby Ruby, thanks for sitting down and keeping me company. I mean you guys are really swamp. Ruby: Well people love a tasty burger, but breakfast is pretty popular too. Me: Yeah my turkey club is really a hearty treat, just what I needed to set up for a long day of travel. Oh, and don’t even get me started about my vanilla shake. out of this world!!! Rudy: Awe, you’re making me blush. I love our turkey club with its thick slices of turkey, and our shakes are so yummy that you’ll want two. Me: I petty much do, Ruby, but I can’t help but notice that some of your Unilocal reviews are rather brutal. Ruby: I know, some people can be really mean; for instance, one woman wasn’t happy because we don’t really offer a vegan option for dining, but that’s not really our thing. We are a retro 50s diner after all… You know if those Vegans ate more burgers, I think that they would be happier. Me: I couldn’t agree more, Ruby Ruby: And of course, there was the gentleman who was upset with our airport prices, but where did he think he was, at that Golden Arches place? At least we use real ice cream in our shakes. I just don’t understand why some Unilocalers are just so mean? Me: I think the word you were searching for begins with an A, Ruby. Ruby: oh we don’t use that sort of language here… After all, we are a family establishment. Me: Well, in any in any event, this burger and shake spot was really a nice surprise. Ruby: Oh you do know how to make a girl blush. Me: Say, Ruby, I got a four hours to kill. What do you say we check out the rest of the airport? Ruby: You are so sweet, just like our scrumptious shakes, but I am afraid that the diner is my life… Besides I’m seeing someone in the kitchen. He’s got his own spatula. For me it really is about watching people enjoy out retro style diner and tasty fare. Me: Ruby, for those of us who understand airport dinning, enjoy we do.

From the red and white striped uniform on the cashier, to the clean, white old fashioned lunch counter where I enjoyed my meal, Ruby’s Dinette served up a burger, fries, AND a total experience! And that might actually have been worth the airport inflated prices I paid for my food! At 10:52 am when I arrived, the line was short, possibly because I was straddling that awkward time that is too late for breakfast but still a bit on the early side for lunch. The cashier, Kristine, grinned and called me honey over and over«Are you eating here or taking it to go, honey?» I couldn’t decide if her uniform reminded me of a candy striper or a candy cane. The perky little cap reminded me of an old fashioned nurse’s cap. This woman was beautiful inside and out and I felt welcomed by her easy genuine smile. «Don’t you want you receipt, honey?» I was already being drawn inwards by the sweet strains of a fifties female singer crooning Baby Love and almost forgot it. Yes, you stand in line to order, but they give you a number and bring it right to your table for you so this places straddles the line between a fast food joint and a full service sit down restaurant. The red and white theme continues inside with red booths, white tables, and red trays, baskets, and airplanes I ordered the bacon cheeseburger which came with fries and a pickle. The French fries were hot and fresh and there were plenty of them. There were liberal amounts of bacon spilling out of my burger just barely held in check by liberal quantities of hot, gooey melted cheese. The burger patty was fresh and juicy, not at all overcooked. All in all, this is a meal I could have expected to get anywhere other than an airport and been happy with. And that is saying quite a lot, as my expectations of airport food at LAX are shockingly low. I KNOW I will get a great meal in the airport in Seattle or Denver. But here in LA? Not so much, which is really a shame. Alaska Airlines, I may just keep booking through you so that I keep coming back to terminal 6 and can enjoy a little bit of fifties fun and eats here at Ruby’s. I may actually dislike this airport a little less!

Rubys is an insult to burgers throughout the world. Trust me grab a grilled cheese sandwich or at most the French fries at this joint. Otherwise you will be HIGHLY disappointed, like I feel right now. Here’s to high standards, less bun, a prettier patty, actual flavor, and real food. Sorry Unilocalers– Not sorry.

Located inside Terminal 6 serving Alaska Airlines and others, Ruby’s Diner attempts to serve up burgers, fries and other diner stuff to jet-lagged tired passengers. Sadly, Ruby’s fails at producing quality diner food, much less airport-standard food. Armed with two $ 12AA food vouchers, I marched my way to Ruby’s because I wanted a good old greasy burger. I been to other Ruby’s franchises in California and I am a fan. Unfortunately, this diner takes it to a new low. In a deep line at 8pm, I hear a booming voice from the counter, «WEAREOUTOFBURGERS&BACON!». How do you run out of burgers on a Thursday evening, especially when your menu revolves around burgers??? That left the soups, fries and grilled cheese sandwiches to be had on the menu. Determined to maximize the use out of my food vouchers, I grabbed two candy bars, a bottle of coke and a FIJI water before approaching the counter. As I finally got to the front, I realized my cashier was either stoned or really really really tired. I told her I wanted a grilled cheese combo, and she just stared at me as if I was speaking Alien. I repeated my order to her and she continued her dumbfounded eye stance. I assumed she got my order and then also ordered an additional garlic fries. I also told her I had the two drinks and candy bars. When she told me my total, it was very low compared to the estimated cost of my items. I asked her if she had gotten my grilled cheese order, in which she replied«no». Turns out, she also didn’t charge me for the coca-cola too. Long story short… the food was bad. Grilled Cheese was grilled poorly; the bread was not crunchy or had the appropriate texture and the cheese accompaniment didn’t taste good. The garlic fries had a strong aromatic flavor, but they were also soggy as well. If you find yourself hungry in Terminal 6 of LAX, I recommend just buying some nuts and a bottle of water from the gift shop and starving until your destination.

What establishments are all my fellow Unilocalers comparing Ruby’s to? This place is in an AIRPORTTERMINAL! Good grief people have gotten a bit pretentious. Look… you’re in terminal C… and there aren’t a ton of options. I got a breakfast sandwich that was not bad… I’d even say it was good. My son’s French Toast was also pretty decent. We were served fairly quick considering how busy the terminal was. They were also friendly and helpful with requests. Not sure I understand the hate. I’d eat here again. Were you expecting linen table cloths?

I notice that everyone trashes this place and I am surprised because I had a great meal and a great experience. There was NOT a long line, so that might make a difference — I got my order in, found a table, received the burger and ate it. What makes me give this such a great review is that the Ruby Burger was spectacular. It was like we used to get back in the old days(the 60s). It tasted so good — very authentic — as though it was just made and I think it was. The fries were OK, but that burger really shined. Airport food isn’t as bad we make it out to be. Just because it’s at the airport doesn’t mean it has to be bad and Ruby’s is fine.

I don’t have high expectations of airport food. Unfortunately, Rubys is one of the few sit down restaurants in this terminal so I figured I’d eat there. I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger and a cup of clam chowder. The Bread was kinda dry and the patty was bland. The cheese didn’t look or tasted like swiss. The clam chowder was creamy but didn’t have much taste. The food took a while. Next to us were a family playing cards even. The fries were crunchy, at least.

If a long line and counter ordering isn’t enough to stop you, maybe a $ 10.99 burger and $ 3.19 coke might. Then again, it could the«off» meat in the burger or the service that basically leaves you on your own. Are you still interested? Terrible beef — The«Hickory Burger» definitely looked worthy. Stacked high with onion rings, bacon, tomato, and lettuce… it had all the makings for a successful smackdown. But an off-tasting burger patty was left after 3 bites. Yucksville. Service? Non– existent. Dropped off our food in baskets, never to be seen again. This would be much better of they offered servers to take orders. Also, alcohol served would be good. More dinero in their pockets, but then again, you have to fix the food.
