Compared to eating at Mary Macs Chicken and Waffles in Atlanta, this place did not meet my expectation. I got the 3 piece chicken plate. The eggs tasted like fake eggs from a carton. The chicken was decent but needed a sauce to add flavor. Grits and Mac and cheese were overly buttered. My group really liked the chicken and waffles and felt the portion was good for the price. The wait was only 20 mins for a group of 6 around 11pm however, the food took a long time. Service was ok, server didn’t know much about the menu. It’s not a bad option for a late night meal.

Worst service ever experience. 45 mins to get food on our table. Sat on table #1 waiter was name Dwight. He was doing the best he could from the situation that was happening in the kitchen. People that came way after us received their food before us. Spoke to manager Don and said he will look into the situation. He never called us back. We order #3 and b. Grits. How hard was that to prepare? A couple that came 30 mins after us received their meal at the same time as ours. This is when I got up and Dwight ask if he could box up the meal togo. I told him«No thanks, i lost my appetite.» The restrooms where wide open and extremely dirty and had mickey mouse repairs. I think the health inspector would walkin and shut the place down. If you want chicken and waffles I suggest going somewhere else. Someone from corporate needs to come in and clean house from staff to kitchen to bathrooms.

Roscoessss. If you never heard of chicken and waffles this is the first place you should go to. Chicken and waffles sounds weird together but they actually go along really well. Their fried chicken has that crispy taste to it and it’s so bomb. Makes me want to go again right now

This Roscoe’s location is a little more relaxed than the one on Gower Street. Known by some of the locals as President Obama’s preferred Roscoe’s, you can come here on most days and not have a line. This location is all about the food, and not so much the star gawking that goes on with the Gower Street location. Roscoe’s has what you would expect at most Waffle Houses with their waffles, omelettes, etc. The only difference is that their chicken is pretty good, and comparable to that of a Church’s with its so-so blend of batter & seasoning. Some of the popular entrees are the Jeanne Jones Omelette & The Obama Special. The omelettes are a little bit bigger here(particularly the Jeanne Jones), yet what really sets this location apart is that the customer service is actually very, very good. Not only that, you can actually hear yourself making an order with your server(unlike the Gower Street location). Parking here is tight, tight, tight! Don’t be surprised to see the lot full, since its not very big. There is street parking, yet it wasn’t determined if you have to pay for parking.

This place is a must. The chicken and waffles are to die for! Probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had… hands down. The mac and cheese was ok… that chicken though!!! Go. Eat. Be satisfied.

A lot has been said about Roscoe’s, and not a lot more needs to be said. If you have not tried the beautiful food served here yet, you are definitely missing out. If you like chicken, I deeply urge you to try Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles. The chicken cannot be more succulent. The waffles cannot be more decadent. The sides are to die for. Sure, you won’t find the most healthy or low-calorie menu items here. But, why not? Indulge your taste buds for once in your life and stop by Roscoe’s. Everyone has room for some good ol’ Soul food. Hell, even the President of the United States knows what’s up.

Love this place — it’s always crowded so please have some patience. The chicken is always on point and the waffles are huge! Had my favorite combo — I wish I was in town for another day so I could come back again. They could use another cashier to speed up the check out process… all on all, go check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Like this place needs another review, or another 5 stars. I would say your first time here you have to get fried chicken and waffles. I do not eat them together they have amazing waffles and amazing fried chicken, I do not think you need to eat the chicken on top of the waffle and put the syrup on it all. That just sounds odd. now prepare yourself to return and get the omelet with chicken and cheese. Yes two generations of pollo in one meal but this is fantastic. If you live in LA do yourself a favor and stop by to enjoy some really good food that is not so good for you.

A legendary place to eat. Even President Obama are here. Very good chicken and waffles. The drinks are good too. I’ll be back again next time I’m on the west coast.

After seven years in this city, I finally ate at a Roscoe’s! Woke up, thought, «You know where I’ve never eaten? Roscoe’s. And that ends today.» I wan not disappointed. While I am not a lover of friend chicken and I haven’t eaten a waffle since the 80’s, I ordered greens and cornbread and rice and beans and they were all just absolutely perfect. This place is all it’s cracked up to be and well worth it if you happen to have to wait in line to get a table.

Diner dive is what I thought of when I walked in here. Had that old diner dive feel/atmosphere. Order the famous chicken and waffles. Had never had chicken and waffles before… I was skeptical but it was super good. Amazing good. The waffle was soft not crispy which is ok with me. The butter and syrup were delish! The chicken breast had great flavor! Order a side of corn bread, it looked sooo good but was more dense and dry than I like it. Was bummed about the corn bread but oh well… the chicken and waffles were good.

Simple and Sweet One of LA’s most known places to eat. I don’t need to tell you guys what is famous here cause they only have a few things on their menu, and chicken and waffles makes the bulk of the menu. Their chicken is on point. crisp on the outside and moist on the inside, their chicken is to die for. Their waffles were a bit on the softer side for me(not that im complaining), but i hear from other Unilocalers that you can ask them to cook it more so i think that is what i will do next time. Their mac n cheese is also on point so order that as a side to your amazing chicken and waffles. Not so much a tip but a recommendation: add hot sauce to your chicken, waffles, and syrup. i didnt know the hype about it until i tried it and its AMAZING. make sure u dont plan anything after this cause you will be in a food coma right after!

I’m confused. I’ve dined here so many times and for some odd reason I decided to do pick-up. And here’s the reason why I’m giving Roscoe’s a measly two stars… So my friend was visiting out of town and I wanted to show him true chicken & waffles from Roscoe’s. I figured ordering would be quicker and more efficient. So we gave them a call at 6:50 and got a quote time of 15 – 20 minutes until the order would be ready to pick up. We actually wanted to get the food at a later time and specifically asked if we could pick it up at around 7:50 or if it was better to call back later and replace the order. I was then told that it was no problem and they would actually place my order at 7:30 instead with the same quote time. We ordered a #1, a side of gravy, two orders of mac & cheese, a biscuit, cornbread, a thigh, and a coke. So naturally, I arrive at the restaurant at 7:50 and got the ticket from the take-out table to go pay at the cashier station. After I pay, I wait. And wait. And wait for about 30 minutes and then I started to get confused. It’s 8:15. I go up to the take-out table and ask her about how much longer for the order to be ready, and she asks me who I am and then she says, «do you have the yellow receipt? I don’t need it but at least I’ll have it on hand so I know what to look out for.» Okay… why didn’t you ask for it from me earlier, but whatever. I gave it to her kindly. So she says, «oh, okay so your order is ready except for the cornbread and soda.» And she points to the items on the counter that’s been there for at least 15 minutes… And she tells me she’ll get it for me and she’ll call for me when it’s complete. So more time goes by. And it is now 8:28, and I kid you not. And its finally done. As I walk out of the restaurant, I realize I’m missing an item and a drink. SOBACK I GO… I tell them I’m missing the drink and a thigh… And the employee responds with, «oh yeah I forgot to pack your thigh… I was wondering why it was still here.» Along with a «oh shoot sorry i forgot about your soda.» Is it that hard… To pack up all the items and make a coke to-go. Because of this experience, I will actually ask for the name of the staff member who took my order from this point forward… SMH… So disappointed. Placed the order at 6:50, actually got my COMPLETE order of food at 8:40. Ended up eating cold food. Yep. No words. I’m sad.

Came here on a Monday during lunch time. We were informed there was a 20 minute wait but we were sited in 10 minutes. Ambiance: Place is fairy large, nothing fancy, reminds me of a diner. Service: Hostess and waitress were nice. Food: We shared the Obama and a piece of cornbread. The chicken and waffle were quite tasty. The cornbread was huge but didn’t taste that great. I guess this is one of those places you should try at least once if you’re visiting LA.

The original and still the best. There is no other chicken and waffle spot that can remotely compare. Chicken is perfectly seasoned, cooked to to perfection, batter is the perfect combo of light and crunchy! The waffles are ridiculously good, they’re my favorite waffles hands down, they are made with the same stuff your favorite childhood dreams where made of. Don’t be fooled by the imposters, if you want chix and waffles Roscoes is your only bet. Tip: go with one of the Scoes specials, they’re the perfect combo.

Hefty portions and laid-back atmosphere. I was hoping the fried chicken would be crispier and more savory. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not outta this world! If you visit Roscoe’s you gotta go with Scoe’s though.

Everything about my visit to Roscoes was exemplary. Allow me to go into greater detail! Our server Dwight made us feel right at home with his familiar demeanor and jokes. He helped us out by tweaking our order a bit so we would save money and always had wet naps at the ready. The ambiance is super cozy, everything is clean and we got to experience the Christmas decorations. The food is outstanding. Everyone at our table got chicken, a waffle and some sides so I got to try the Mac and cheese, candied yams and cornbread. The waffle is not as thick as most places, but it’s nice to be able to fold it and make little tacos. Try a bit of chicken with skin, Louisiana Hot sauce and syrup wrapped in waffle! Yum! The chicken is NOTGREASY at all. I ate a pretty large amount of food and I didn’t feel gross afterward. That’s my hallmark for a quality fried chicken — when you taste all the flavor and none of the fry! Keep up the good work Roscoes! I will continue my patronage at this location. The Hollywood one doesn’t hold a candle to this one on Pico.

A late night private concert to see Molotov in LA found my group in the area, pumped, dumped, and ready to eat, LATE. How excited were we when we Unilocaled the local eateries to see Roscoe’s pop up on the top of still opened! I showed our limo driver the address and off we went. The guys were talking about the different Monster Girls that were in attendance at the event, but seriously, I kept counting the seconds until I could get my hands on some fried chicken. 5 minutes later, the limo comes to a stop and out we go, right to the front door where there was a line, but heck if we weren’t seated within 5 minutes. Most of the guys in the group had never been to Roscoe’s before so the energetic ambiance and vibe of the place was already a big plus. The smell of fried chicken permeated the air and my stomach began to burn. We hustled our orders in and before our food arrived I thought I need to take a group shot of us. No sooner do I step back to capture the whole table, a lovely young lady(somebody said she might be a prostitute?) literally through herself onto the table and photobombed us. Talk about making the night! Needless to say, excitement filled the air and even added to the 3 stars that I’m giving the food. Why? Well, not sure if it was just too busy or undermanned in the kitchen, but the food took a bit long to get to us and when it did(although, the drunk ones in our group REALLY enjoyed the meal) I was actually disappointed with my meal that evening. Mostly because I thought the chicken was underseasoned, overcooked, and oily. I think you can probably see that in my picture w/the red beans and rice. Will I be back? Likely. I don’t like seeing a good place like this fail on their signature dishes.

I really wish I could give a better rating because the service was great and everything, but the food was just OK to me. My boyfriend raved about how others raved about this place and I gave in the last day in Cali before our flight out. –We ordered #3 which was half a chicken, 2 waffles, with the gravy on the side. Waffles taste like waffles to me, I honestly don’t like waffles, but I had a few bites and it was the same as any other waffles. The chicken was more on the dried side, no flavor in the meat, the skin was a bit flavorless too.(1⁄5) –Biscuit -(2⁄5) Pretty soft, it didn’t break apart or anything like most biscuits, not much flavor of honey or butter that I tasted. –Mac & Cheese —(4.5÷5) Superb, great! the macaroni was soft, creamy, cheesy with flavors –Eggs & Cheese —(5⁄5) Nice, fluffy, seasoned well with whatever is in it. I would have this everyday, I would even eat it with just some rice. What’s in it?! –Chef’s Potato Salad —(1⁄5) Potatoes were hard and it was flavorless. Again, the people were great, but the food wasn’t as what I expected. I probably wouldn’t come back again unfortunately.

This place is second to none and legendary. Absolutely, the best chicken and waffle restaurant in the U.S. Anytime you are in the LA area this is a place that you must come to. I am very particular about this one as it is my favorite location of all locations. I typically only order 2 things from this menu, the Obama Special or the Jeanne Jones omelette. Both are mouth-watering good. The picture I posted is of both dishes. If you are looking for a chicken and waffle place look no further. This is your place. Enjoy and remember who recommended you to come here.

Come to Roscoe’s if you’re looking for a homey Southern diner experience. Do NOT come here if you’re expecting some clean hipster restaurant. You can go to chicken places in Santa Monica for that(ex. Bru’s). Roscoe’s is where you come for that heavy mac n cheese and your classic chicken and waffles. I love getting the Obama order because it’s a perfect balance of 3 wings and a waffle. *Plus there is a really nice free parking lot which is a huge plus for any dining experience in LA.
