The food here is excellent. I have had the fried avocados, most of their bowls, many soups, quinoa burger(a favorite!), and their amazing muesli. Service is so so. If you are looking for a fast in and out, I would let the server know you are in a rush. The baked goods are pretty good. I’ve had the lemon poppy seed muffin twice and both times it hasn’t been as moist as I’d like, but I got it again because it’s still so good. If you are a muesli /oatmeal person, try both. So good.

I went this morning, by default, to get a breakfast burrito — everywhere else was closed! I called ahead to ask if they had breakfast burritos on their menu they said yes. When I walked in the breakfast burrito was the most expensive thing on the menu at $ 13!!! I’m sure they have great pastries and coffee but do not go for the breakfast burrito!

I’m so excited that I discovered this bakery/restaurant because it is a true gem! Came in with my man last Sunday right around 9 am for breakfast and got a table immediately. After debating between a few different options on their menu, we both decided to go with something that looked like it was one of their specialties– Weisswurst with apples &onion, two eggs, crispy breakfast potatoes, and a pretzel roll. Absolutely everything was just delicious, seriously what a treat! I had mine with poached eggs and it was the best breakfast I’ve had in a really really long time. Our waiter was quiet and sweet(just how I like ‘em on an early sunday mornin’) and the service was fast but not toooo fast. A kind gentlemen, who seemed like he was the owner, came and asked us how we liked our food and refilled our coffee cups during the meal. I hardly ever take food pictures but as soon as my plate landed on the table I had to text a picture to my dad, and show off the incredible food I was about to have! Can’t wait to go back and try more of their food/baked goods.

Near my home, good strong coffee and pastries are to DIEFOR! A bit expensive, but well worth the boost. My sunday morning treat while doing laundry across the street. The staff is always kind and smiling as well. Good atmosphere each time I drop in! I’ve not dined in their restaurant area but I did note that their kitchen closes at 3pm even though the establishment closes at 4pm. Also they do offer sidewalk(under umbrellas on sunny days) seating.

I went to Gelson’s in Irvine for the first time and saw their bread display in the corner section. I tried the wheat and pretzel buns and they are both delicious and filling. It’s the closest thing I can find to German bread in SoCal. I’m curious to try the café the next time I’m in LA. Gut gemacht!

Great neighborhood brunch/breakfast place — we had the avocado pretzel, huevos rancheros, and a croissant! The food was all great and fresh as was the cappuccino! Would definitely come back!

We were delighted to see the opening of this great bakery a while back. You may find their chocolate hazelnut cake to be amongst the finest of its sort in the city. They also make a mean carrot cake and also tasty coconut-pineapple offerings. I used to teach at the school just around the corner and my colleagues and I would come here for tea. I am done. The end.

Service took awhile to get my latte, they didn’t make it right but I had to go, the Pastery was very good, metered street parking Well they redeemed themselves, I almost never went back but the service was great, efficient they made my chai tea perfectly, I’m glad I gave them another chance

After moving into the offices a few blocks down, I’ve tried this place a dozen or so times. You can tell a lot of attention goes into the food and bakery, and it generally satisfies. The mint lemonade is just four ingredients: lemon, water, sugar and mint(and you can see the blended mint!) and the avocado fries were an interesting(and IMO lackluster) gamble. I usually end up getting the breakfast croissant, chicken club, or chopped salad. It’s typical café food(with the addition of really great pretzel buns and side dishes) but the bakery items are a step above the rest. The plum streusel, chocolate croissants, muffins, candle-looking thing that I can’t recall, are all delicious, especially in combination with and espresso or Americano. Wish they were open a bit later, but I can’t blame them for that.

Rockenwagner, you had everything to be amazing! Then you hired, well let’s say it, a bunch of idiots. I just wanted an iced tea and something sweet and the genius on the other side of the counter couldn’t think an iced tea was doable. It is! Make tea, add ice and voila!!! I know we don’t all have the same intellectual capacities but that was beyond my conception of stupidity. I’d rather go to le pain quotidien for my iced tea and sweet treat!

I never thought I would be writing this review but here it goes. As good as their breads are their customer service is equally deplorable. I am general manager of a restaurant and we were trying to buy bread from Rockenwagner Bakery for our restaurant. We gave them a call, filled a wholesale application and waited. And waited, and waited, and waited. We called them three times and each time they told us we had to wait for a rep to contact us. Two months passed by and after the forth call they told us a rep was calling us soon. Today after not hearing from them for another week I called them just to get a «We’re not accepting any new customers» response. When I proceeded to ask why they wasted our time for two months the rude rep hung up on me. In short their customer service is so bad we decided to go with another bakery. As good as your breads are Rockenwagner you’re not the only game in town. Being nice and honest is a huge variable inorder to succeed in this town. I truely hope you treat your customers with more respect than you treated me. I doubt it though.

My roommates and I are here every other, if not everyday. It keeps you away from the generic Starbucks that are all over the area and their vanilla lattes are a personal favorite.(They use powdered vanilla rather than syrup) Also, try the croissant which. Quality espresso, worth trying whether you live in the area or not! Also, staff are lovely. :)

Small little shop that has a lot to offer! The food and coffee is amazing. I live right around the corner and come here at least once a week for coffee and to chat with their staff. Ricky, Nicole, and Adrian(the manager) are super friendly and provide amazing/fast service. I look forward to talking to either of them every time I come in because they always have an outgoing mood that has a positive effect on me. On top of their amazing service, the food and drinks here are amazing. I sit down at one of their tables when I have the chance but if I’m looking for a quick breakfast or lunch, they still provide amazing grab-n-go sandwhiches in their fridge. I’ve heard many other rockenwagners have started to close down but I hope this one stays open as long as I’m in LA!

Avoid this place at all costs!!! I went here with 2 other people this afternoon and we were the only ones there. The drink order was prompt but in less than 5 minutes(you could tell we were still examining the menu & talking), the waiter was rushing us to order. I could barely understand him; he spoke as though he was high on speed .so fast. I asked him where he was from, he said from LA. He waited till we ordered. we felt as though we were being pressured to order asap. so we ordered. I could barely hear my friends talk because the staff was so busy chit chatting loudly & making their semi inappropriate jokes. which were borderline racist The food was not so great & a crappy selection on the menu. Never again will I go to such a low rent place to eat. reminds me of why I cannot stand hipsters

Cute bakery with good breads as well as pastries. I noticed that a few of their locations shut down, so I was glad to get to make it here. I tried their pretzel rolls which were pretty good as well as the almond croissant which I also enjoyed. Prices are a bit high, but the quality is great, presentation and service nice, all around good place to grab a hearty or sweet bite, I’ll be back!

Cute little bakery that has a good selection of baked goods and cold pressed juices. There are sandwiches pre-packed and ready to go. The chicken club(grilled chicken breast with avocado, fried egg, lettuce, and crispy bacon) and pretzel burger(super juicy) were delicious. I grabbed a loaf of bread, a croissant, and a jalapeño cheese roll to go based on fellow Unilocal reviews. Great little place!!!

They had pretty display of baked goods, and i asked the staff for the suggestion. He said Peach pastry and Apple pastry are the top seller, but since i am not a huge fan of sweets, I got his third recommendation of «5 grain scone». He said this scone has grain and raisin in it, so it is a perfect combination of sweet and non-sweet. I do not like the raisin either but I decided to go with it. OMG it was sooooo good. The raisin did not taste like the regular purple raisin. It was white raisin, and had a slight sweetness but no overpowering usual«raisin» flavor. It has full of grain and walnuts in it. Soft inside. I sure will go back there for this 5 grain scone! My husband had prezel burger and he gave it a 4 star too. There is a bakery in front and full service restaurant in the back. We did not know the system, so we ended up ordering and paying at the bakery for us to eat in the restaurant. The cashier gave me my scone right then in a to-go bag, and he told us to sit in the restaurant and wait for the pretzel burger my husband ordered. The server brought it on a plate but he did not bring us the utensils or he did not ask if I wanted to have a plate for my scone. How does he expect us to eat this meaty juicy pretzel burger? Hmm. We looked around, and there were utensils and napkins in this box on one table. I was bit confused. Is this a food court area??? Looked like there were plenty of servers for this small place, but none of them came to ask if we were doing fine or if we needed anything else. Maybe because we paid at the bakery? I do not know. So i would say there is absolutely no service here but their food was good.

Ich habe in Deutschland gelebt, und leider kann ich die Produkte hier auch nicht damit vergleichen. Ausserdem die Preise sind unglaublich hoch fuer die alte Kaesebrot, Bretzel, usw. Ihr koennt autentisch sein

Convenient and well-priced, Rockenwagner is the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat. It’s small and cozy, but they have loads of breakfast and lunch items. I personally love their homemade pretzel bread! They have To-go/pre-made foods as well including an awesome turkey sandwich on pretzel bread, berries and muesli, or a salad. Their pastries are good too — it’s hard to choose just one. Overall, great customer service and I always have a positive experience!

Who are these 1 and 2 star reviewers? So you don’t like their cronuts… did you not even notice that it’s a full restaurant and bakery? Their bread is SO good. Their meals are SO good! Look at the pictures! The trio of sliders… YUM! Chicken waldorf salad sandwich… YUM! The apple pancake — an ENORMOUS(share it), tasty dessert! You entitled hipsters, whining about your cronuts. Go back to Silverlake, so us Westsiders can enjoy real, quality food. I can’t wait to eat at Rockenwagner’s again!
