David Rhodes School of Music is a gem of a music professional. We’ve been with him for several months now and the progressive achievement I see in my daughter is highly encouraging. David Rhodes ability to develop an enjoyment of learning the piano in her demonstrates how knowledgeably wise he is in this area of expertise. ^^ I am grateful my daughter respects him and connects. It was a journey looking for a teacher like him to influence my daughter’s approach to music. As a matter of fact, not just David but the other instructor seems to sincerely connect with all their students as well, respectively. They are enjoyable, as well as patient, kind, and knowledgeable!

I decided to start taking piano lessons again after a 20-​year hiatus. Since September, I’ve had lessons with David, Sariah, and now Mackenzie. All of them are extremely knowledgeable, personable, fun to work with, and great at teaching music.
I love the ease of online scheduling, and the prices are reasonable. The school stocks an extensive library of music books, so whatever I want to study is within arm’s reach. I just wish I had more time for lessons!

I took piano lessons for 8 years when I was growing up, but stopped when I went to college and never had the time to get back into it. When my boyfriend found this out, he surprised me with a month of lessons, and I was amazed how quickly it came back and how much fun it was to play again. So far I’ve stuck with it for three months (a big deal for me, I’m the girl that gets a 10-​class card for yoga and only goes once) and I’ve switched from half-​hour to hour lessons. David is a great teacher. He understood my level right away and always picks out really beautiful pieces that are just hard enough to keep me challenged. And my boyfriend loves to hear me practice, quite a return on his investment! The facilities are great and I’ve met a number of the other teachers who all seem like lovely people to study with. I highly recommend taking lessons here!

My husband, my 10 yr old son and my 8 yr old daughter all currently take piano classes with David. He is a fun and dedicated teacher who listens to students and gives them very personal attention. He seems to bring out the best in them during classes and in the intimate recitals he organizes in which parents can proudly watch (and film ;-) their kids playing pieces they have practiced in class.
His Larchmont location is not only convenient but it is also cozy, comfortable and relaxing… there is water, tea and coffee, reading material and plenty of comfy seating.
I highly recommend David and the Rhodes School of Music.

David is a wonderful teacher; he is patient, diligent and passionate about the piano. He leads by example; he is a fine classical musician and composer. He is well-​organised, reliable, smart and perceptive about his students’ abilities and potential. I cannot imagine a better piano teacher for my son, who liked David very much and appreciated his style of teaching. David is also great company, which counts for something given the hours spent in this activity.

Dave is such a great teacher! He is super patient and supportive. He is very down to earth and friendly but also expects a level of professionalism and commitment.
I was nervous to start piano lessons as an adult, thinking it would be odd for someone who usually teaches kids but Dave never made me feel anything but really comfortable, that is probably why he has students off all ages from little kids to grown ups. He has so much knowledge and passion for music and it really shows in his lessons. He’s just a really cool guy, you will not be disappointed! :)

We’ve been with David for a couple of years now. After working with at least 7 piano teachers over the past 6 years, David is the only one who has been able to continually inspire and motivate my son. He connects with kids, gets their respect and commands their attention. I highly recommend David to anyone looking for a piano teacher.

both my boys have studied with David. he is so sweet and patient, he works with them on any music that interests them be it harry Potter themes, Beatles, or Allman Bros. very flexible, funny and a cool guy, we have seen him perform his own works which is so inspiring.
He works really well with different ages; my boys like him at 15 and 13 as much as they did when they were 7 and 9, he doesn’t talk down to the kids but also expects a certain level of professionalism from them.

David has been teaching our daughter (now 11) for several years, and her skills have grown consistently and impressively. He pushes her hard, but it’s always a gentle push done with great warmth, and she always rises to the challenge. His affection for his students is obvious, and his pride in their accomplishments is palpable. Heartily recommended.
