You always remember your first and last impression. When traveling first class out of the U.S. I always wonder, given the dreadful state of our airline lounges, what international business travelers must think of us. Apparently with a U.S. airline spending upwards of $ 18,000 on a ticket does not warrant greater accommodation than a ham and cheese sandwich(I’m looking at you AAFC lounge), but Qantas clearly disagrees. The FC lounge in LAX is a study of understated elegance that prepares you for the upcoming 14 hour flight into Australia. Beautiful showers with SKII products. Actual sit down meals with servers and diverse offerings ranging from risotto to burgers and frittes. The chairs are modern but comfortable. The power sockets are plentiful. I didn’t check if they service multiple prongs or if you require an adaptor– I guess I’ll have to look next time. Qantas customers used to have to use the AAFC lounge. I’m glad Qantas built a better option.

Remember, any OneWorld Emerald Member can get lounge access here, even traveling in economy. Don’t waste your time in the shared Oneworld Business lounge, come here. … This is the best lounge in LAX. Maybe even the best lounge in US. Good champagne, great food, HUGE Showers, never too crowded, and a very nice atmosphere. Please remember the new Qantas dress code though. As far as food, the food here is identical to the Qantas lounges in Australia. Celebrity chef menu and food cooked to order, not just a buffet. That quality doesn’t match the lounges in Australia, but it’s stil the best lounge food in lax.

This was my second«First class lounge» experience, having been to QANTAS’ Sydney lounge on the way to the US. On the way home my flight left at 10:30pm, so I got to the airport early to have an early dinner at the lounge. Following from the design DNA of a lot of QANTAS’ lounges, it has distinct zones, with a dining zone and a number of seating zones, with a set overlooking the atrium near the lounge(normally in other lounges this seating would look out to the airfield). I had a fish-based dish for dinner(I believe it might’ve been tuna). I also had the dessert and tried to get their dessert wine from the menu, but they had run out. Service was reasonably prompt given the number of people in the dining area. What made this visit especially memorable for me was the fact my flight was delayed by over an hour. Watching the long line of people file back into the lounge and head straight for the bar summed up the common feeling — it was late, we’re tired, we just want a drink. Special commendations to the single bar tender on duty that night(I believe someone had called in sick and he was working well past his normal hours). He continued to serve us as promptly as he could with good humour about the situation. Wifi speed was decent, although I didn’t see any obvious charging points(although to be fair I didn’t really look very hard). Overall, a pretty good lounge.

Great service, good food. The veggies and fruit were fresh. The bar looked like fun. Love the lounge.

Nice first class lounge. Not crowded. Good service. Food was pretty good too. I had the burger and it was quite delicious. Lounge is big reason why I stay with airline loyalty programs.

Very nice lounge. Quite spacious; I’ve seen it full, but never to to the point of not having seating. There is a full bar area, a restaurant, and plenty of various seating. Self serve stuff includes coffee, water(still and sparkling), wine(as best as I recall; cab, pinot, merlot, and a few whites), chips, nuts, and some pastries. But pretty much anything is available from the bar and/or restaurant. It’s upstairs, so after security you make a hard left turn then up the elevator one floor. It’s ahead on your right as you exit the elevator.(down the hall a ways to the left — as you’re exiting the elevator — is the OneWorld Business lounge and some other restaurants). Staff here are phenomenal. WiFi is enough to get things done(no issues, but I haven’t clocked it so can’t quantify it more). It gets four(vs five) stars from me not for any particular reason other than it’s a lounge. It meets all my needs and is very nice, but is nothing special and doesn’t knock my socks off.(i.e.: not HKGCX lounge.)

The food is really good if I ever get it. Unfortunately, it almost take 30 minutes for the food to come every time. I fly international every other month and it’s definitely is going downhill. For an airport lounge, it’s super slow. It’s super annoying.

Truly a wonderful lounge to visit before your long haul to Australia. Service is impeccable, which is consistent across all Qantas lounges. Nice varied menu with options from lite fair to full meals… I opted for a side salad and a pasta entrée both were good not great. Hey the price is right so no real complaints here. I’m probably spoiled by the quality of the food at the Sydney first class lounge.

The ambience of the place is very nice, of what a first class lounge should be. The only concern I have is the food quality they serve. I came in during the morning and ordered breakfast. The food came out like you would expect from IHOP, quite disappointed. Next time, I’ll come in just for coffee and snacks.
