Post & Beam is a gem tucked away in Baldwin Hills. It has an intimate, homey vibe that is warm and inviting. It feels like you’re dining in your friends fancy home. I came with four girlfriends for a late, after church brunch(around 2pm). Everything was delicious, with the shrimp & grits, biscuits & gravy and bottomless mimosas(obviously) being our table favorites. Even with the rain, the place was quite busy but we still received incredibly attentive service from our server Alton and the manager. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Brad, who was as warm and friendly as his staff. I would absolutely recommend Post & Beam for anyone looking for a new place to try and look forward to coming back in the future!

Great food and atmosphere for brunch! Ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, Chicken and Waffles, Shrimp and Grits, and Chicken Caesar Salad(and of course bottomless mimosas). Everything was well seasoned and tasted fresh. Prolly is an amazing waitress and always kept our glasses full!

I was looking for a place for New Year’s Eve dinner that took reservations and was on the way to The Forum from Mid-Wilshire area. There weren’t too many choices, but I found Post & Beam on OpenTable, and I’m glad I gave it a chance! My husband and I had an early 5:45 reservation since we wanted to be to The Forum around 7. We ate a late lunch and weren’t too hungry, so we skipped appetizers, which is unfortunate because they looked and sounded great(especially the cornbread). I did order a Moscow Mule, and it was super fresh tasting, but it did taste a little weak on the alcohol. For dinner, we each had a pizza– my husband had the pepperoni, and I had the pork belly with sweet potato. The pepperoni was really good and had a spicy kick to it. If you’re sensitive to spicy, I would ask them to take off the peppers. My pork belly sweet potato pizza was really good, but it had a slight fish taste on a few bites like maybe the pork belly was cooked in a pan that just had fish? Still, I wasn’t that hungry and ate the whole pizza… so obviously it was not really an issue. I’d say the food is a 4, but the service definitely makes this place 5 stars. Everyone from the hostess, to the waitstaff, to the busboy were so incredibly friendly! The manager also stopped by everyone’s table to see how things went. Everyone’s hospitality made us feel super welcomed, which was great especially since this was our first real stop of our LA visit.

So tasty. We had shrimp & grits topped with bacon crumble, short ribs(no knife needed), so tender and juicy, black eye pees, Mac & cheese, fried chicken, cornbread, Brussels sprouts, and steak. All of our plates were pretty much licked clean. We had a party of 8 and had reservations. We still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. All together we were there for 2 ½ hours, kind of a long time for a meal. It was hubby’s bday and we were ok with the slow service because it gave us time to chat. They were a very full house tonight. Out of a few things we ordered; succotash and Apple tart. The manager brought a second desert on the house since the birthday boy originally ordered the apple tart. All the food was delicious. We will go back for sure. Our visiting friends from Hawaii really loved their food too. Overall a 4 star due to the wait, 5 star on all the food. Every bite was scrumptious. Perfect.

One of the best restaurants in the world. Great food, wonderful staff, customer service could not be better. Brad — the owner — treats everyone like a celebrity. The jerk chicken and PB chop salad are AMAZING!!! My fav place for all occasions.

Came here in March of 2015 for my birthday. Ambiance is cool and friendly staff. The Brussels sprouts! Ample Parking as it is in the middle of the lot of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. Live Music on the Patio and fire pits add to the vibe.

Incredible service from Alton and the rest of the staff! We got the kale salad, corn bread, sangria, fried chicken, and salmon everything was incredible. Alton was one of the best servers we have ever had. I would recommend this place to anyone. Try the kale salad, it’s so different but incredible!

Great place! I had the short ribs er hich were soo tender it was like eating a pillow. I have never eaten a more tender juicy piece of meat. It was heavenly. I also had the greens which were seasoned just perfect. My husband had salmon and the mac n cheese which he said were awesome. we will be back only down side was the bread pudding was dry and could have been a little more moist and the lack of elbow room at the table for 2. but all in all this is a great place

Beautiful restaurant with great service and yummy food. I’ll be honest — this review is late so I’m not going to be super accurate. But I do remember that everything was tasty and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The only negative was that it was a little loud which made it hard to hear my friends. I left the restaurant with a sore throat from having to yell all my conversations.

Post and Beam is like the perfect date night set. It’s also a Girl’s Night Out winner. A sexy/cool ambience with dim lighting, premium drinks, great service and delicious dishes to choose from. Space can be limiting; as the inside is not super huge. So if it’s a chilly evening arrive early to snag a seat or bar spot which is first come first serve. Outdoor seating is available as well. Menu options often change so don’t get use to any one thing here. The good news is; most of what alters is still worth trying. Enjoy the P&B. ~Christy

This is definitely a gem in south central Los Angeles. It’s located outside of a shopping mall and it has it’s own lot. We went for Sunday brunch and we were told that a live band was coming to play out on the patio. The restaurant has a homey feel to it with super awesome staff. It’s always nice to see the head chef on duty as well! We opted for a Bloody Mary and Bellini, but we might skip those if we ever come back and just do the bottomless mimosas. So many great sounding items on the menu(which supposedly changes often), but we went with a braised short rib with eggs + potatoes, stuffed French toast with Nutella + strawberries, and a crushed tomato pizza. I’d say the braised short rib dish was the best thing we ate that day. I would advise to go for the more unique sounding items on their menu that make them special. Like maybe their fried chicken and waffles or shrimp grits.

Great brunch spot. $ 15 all you can drink mimosas, and they kept the glasses full. I had a nice skillet scramble with some spiced Tasso ham, tons of cheese(you can never have too much cheese!) and potatoes with a lovely crumbly soft biscuit and house made preserves. The live jazz combo was a perfect addition out on the patio. I’m definitely coming back and bringing my parents.

I dined in on a Saturday and had the 3 course meal that started with cornbread dry and not flavorful as I expected a 6 year old could’ve made this better. The deviled eggs came they were pretty tasty. Then the waiter recommended the short ribs and said they came with a side of scalloped potatoes what came out was a tasteless piece of meat and some chopped fried potatoes that had no seasoning or flavor. Sadly I will not be returning here the cook needs to take his job more serious or maybe they need to hire someone with some skills this place will not be around for long!!!

The good news is it’s not bad. The bad news is it’s not good. I came here with a girlfriend tonight for some food and drinks. She ordered the Peach Sangria and I ordered the Champagne cocktail. It wasn’t bad for $ 11. We had the deviled eggs which I thought was pretty good. Sadly, it was the only pretty good thing in there. I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a side of Mac and Cheese. I wasn’t able to eat the Mac and Cheese as it seemed a bit off and very bitter. The chicken is well, just an overpriced fried chicken. For $ 23, I thought that the chicken would at least be something good and fancy. Nop. Fried chicken. I wanted to love this place as the building itself is so lovely and close to said girlfriend’s place. Sadly, there’s nothing worth coming back for. The service, however, is impeccable. Great staff!

Do people want the good or bad news first? There was a super nice jazz band playing in the courtyard. I’m into listening to smooth tunes while eating. Let’s talk about this food: Biscuits an sausage gravy had a nice presentation; even loved the eggs on top but can you really have Biscuits and sausage Gravy without there being any sausage IN the gravy? Ooooooor is my grandma, mom and every southern woman I know only do that? How do you get the flavor of the sausage without the meat? Did they pick it out? I didn’t understand what was happening. Lol! I KNOW I’m kind of a food snob especially as it pertains to southern dishes but if you wanna do southern cuisine then research a southern woman that LIVES in the south. Transplants and new spins on stuff just makes for unpleasant eating experiences. Eating different food is all about the expectation. In MY opinion. The waitstaff was VERY nice and it didn’t take much time to be seated. Cute place but I wouldn’t eat here on purpose again. Sorry!

Hands down on of the best places I have ever had Sunday brunch. Super cute décor. They have a cute patio decorated with lights. They had a cute little old man band playing some jazz/elevator music. Kinda like a jam band. Food is delicious. Fucking wow. We ate the pizza, stuffed French toast, garden harvest scrambled eggs that came with potatoes, and Chili. Every bite of it was yummy! Little pricey but you pay for what you get. Worth it. Serious nothing wrong with the food. Staff was real friendly and kept refilling our water. Don’t let me forget the bottomless mimosas!!! If you’re in the area this is a must have stop!

I’ve never had soul food before and I usually hate corn bread. But I loved the food at Post & Beam. I probably had way too much corn bread, but it’s the softest, moistest corn anything I’ve ever had in my life. We all ordered our own entrees but shared the sides. Mac & Cheese and collared greens were my favorite. The fried chicken was juicy, tender and everything fried chicken needs to be. My only concerns for the night was the inside seating was far too loud — the sound environment is poor so it was impossible to have a conversation. They have jazz nights on the patio, if you want to enjoy jazz with your meal, which seems like an amazing idea but also very loud. One bathroom also, so there’s a wait.
