Took my first barre-type class here through Classpass. What a workout! I have never taken a barre-type class before and honestly never really believed they would be a good workout because I’m more of a spin/elliptical/weights girl but dear lord, this workout had me shaking in muscles I didn’t even know I had. I couldn’t even complete a lot of the sets because the workout is very much focused on tiny movements on one arm or leg at a time so that your muscle is fully exhausted and shaking beyond belief by the end of the set and it’s just not the type of workout you get with regular sets and reps at the gym. It’s a fast-paced full body workout that’s really well balanced and thought out. I can definitely see why it’s so popular. This studio is very small and the layout is a bit odd — it’s in a weird L shape but I think it also makes sense because it provides maximum barre area. They have changing areas in the back and little cubbies to put your items in. There is also a bathroom in the back which is a bit of a bummer since you can’t use it if you’re just in the front waiting area. It’s very clean and adorbs. Parking is easy; it’s on Larchmont but north of Beverly so you’re a bit removed from the hubbub and there’s tons of metered spots. I thought my instructor Jesse was great. He tried to remember everyone’s names and went around gently correcting everyone’s form. With that being said, I wish he slowed down a bit sometimes and showed the moves, at least in the beginning of each set, because a lot of the times I had to just look around and see what the more experienced people were doing. With that being said, he did do initial demonstrations of at least half the moves. I’ll definitely be back because this is a great addition to any workout routine and the studio is cute and easily accessible.

A Pop Physique studio with the Larchmont vibe! This is the most chill Pop Physique location I’ve ever been to in LA. They have a few parking spots in front of the building, but I prefer just parking on the street because I’m afraid I’ll back into oncoming traffic(bad driver). It’s really easy to find free street parking anyway. The studio is on the smaller side and is oddly shaped, which is why I took off a star. If you get a spot close to the wall where they hang up all the mats, you only get a partial view of the studio and it can be hard to see the instructor at times. Jesse is my favorite instructor here. He knows how to keep his class focused and his demonstrations are good. He kicked my butt. Jaclyn’s classes are super hard. She often combines all thigh work exercises into one super long continuous workout(i.e. few seconds of breaks in between the exercises are eliminated), which makes her class more challenging.
