Great place for after work drinks and vittles. Loved their meatballs(they’re beef and I don’t really eat beef but they’re good!) and sweet potato waffle fries. The mixed nuts were good as well. Enjoyed watching the game on the large screen. Both the staff and the manager’s nice as well. There’s a few pool tables in the establishment, and cozy lounge areas for a more intimate setting. I love the large window that overlooks Figueroa and 7th during rush hour.

really laid back fun happy hour. they pull down a screen and project all of the big sports games which is fun. There’s a hot bartender during week and ladies, you should go just to take a glance at the view :)

hrmmmm. wanna watch the game at a chill lounge with happy hour specials? This lounge is at the Wilshire hotel and it’s not bad. Huge screens with clean bathrooms. Sip on some beer on tap and eat a $ 4 crab cake sandwich w some nice portioned fries. Play some pool and unwind. It’s fun to meet up with some friends here and talk shrimp as you blimp up on bar food. $ 3 vallet baby!

A group of us came here for happy hour after an afternoon of strategic planning. I say this to give you a disclaimer on my state of mind. After we figured out the happy hour menu that seemed like an SAT, LSAT, or some other sort of exam or logic puzzle, we realized that they actually had some good deals. The tricky part was they had some deal where it was $ 10 for some drink + a couple of app choices. But then on the other side of the menu, they had some $ 4 apps. The point is, make sure you choose the combo that you want. Worst case, you lose a $ 1. After our server figured out that some of the drinks were on the happy hour menu, she helped us figure the cheaper combo. Compared to other happy hour venues Downtown near the Financial District, Point Moorea actually had quite a selection of food and drinks. Well drinks were $ 5 and they had a couple of beers as well; the food selection was pretty extensive. We had crab cakes(delish), fish and chips, pizza(thin slice but would be considered medium size if you ordered it from a pizza place– so it’s pretty big), Southwestern taquitos, and crab legs and shrimp. They were $ 5 or under. The seafood was surprising fresh and the fried items were perfectly fried(batter not too thick). It’s a hotel bar so… it’s a hotel bar. The crowd looked like they were all guests. We came on a Tuesday so it was pretty empty. For our purposes of having some drinks and food while we debriefed and caught up with each other after an afternoon of strategic planning, it was great place. Great food.

finding a happening spot in the financial district on a saturday night is quite the task. since i had friends staying at this hotel, we decided to come here for a pre-party before heading out to another venue. we had just missed the happy hour BUT they were still offering the $ 10 drink/food special. i had the jumbo shrimp and crab claws with my cocktail. i was expecting teeny little shrimps with one crab claw but i was surprised when my plate came out with JUMBO shrimps and very meaty crab claws! my friends ordered the pizza with their specials and it wasn’t just a small pizza, it was actually a pretty good sized pizza that you could easily share with another person. the music on this night was hip hop. there was a private party so half of the restaurant was closed off. the bar area was quite large for a hotel restaurant. there are flat screens around and pool tables. the server we had was extremely nice. although she didnt give us the brand of tequila we asked for, she was nice enough to have given us a much tastier brand =)

Great happy hour deals! $ 5 for well drinks and beer, $ 4 for appetizers(aka full-portion meals), and $ 5.50 for wine. I ordered a glass of wine and some fish and chips. The fish is slightly more greasy than I would’ve liked, but for $ 4, I really can’t complain about the 4 medium sized pieces of fish and large batch of fries. The service was impeccable. We had two servers dedicated to us and they even let us have the private room due to the size of our group. Take note that this place is not fancy, but it’s also not really a «dive.» With it’s large screen tv’s … it’s a good place to watch the game and to have some no nonsense appetizers and drinks.

1000 room hotel decides to depart from the static, terrifyingly boring and awkward lobby bar with some moderne fixtures and updated approaches to tiki. It’s cute, it’s fun… the barkeeps and waitresses are sweet and CUTEASHELL. Martin is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen in my entire life. They used to have a wonderful crew. Markus, Lola, etc. Bill the chef is amazing, and the food there is consistently delicious. I am just disappointed I can’t get back there more often. The private room is fantastic to rent for intimate, private parties. For the class of people who enjoy discretion, mature interaction, and salacious fun.

Pretty cool place. I like the 3 bars and cute waitresses. The music system is good and they have plenty of seating. Glasses are a nice size too for the drinks they serve and when it gets hot, I like that you can find an A/C vent blowing cool air. Thumbs up! — Mr. Shannon

Dining Date: 4÷12÷10 I’m back at Point Moorea for my after work happy hour nibbles. I know it’s outdated but it’s very laid back and the bartenders adolf and gene are both very nice. There are always men traveling on business hanging out at the bar. All not my type but as a woman you’ll have no other competition. This time I chat a bit with a Delta pilot from the Cayman Islands and a small Filipino man with a loud voice. Kinda like the people I know that are hard of hearing. My plan is to eat a little something and then go to the gym. I order some sparkling water($ 4), shrimp and crab claws($ 4) and the crab cakes($ 4). I don’t like the crab cakes but I enjoy my shrimp and crab claws. My tab at Point Moorea is $ 15 including tip.

Call me crazy, I love this little lounge! I like playing pool and this place has two pool tables that are almost always opened. Best part about the pool is that you play for free! The drinks are a little steep in price but they always have great deals on drink and food combos. Also the food during happy hour 4−7pm is only 4 bucks. This place has lots of TV’s and is a perfect place to watch a game while shooting 8 ball. One of the best aspects of Moorea is the fact that it is not busy. Strange as this sounds it’s true. Your almost always guaranteed an open pool table, or an open seat to watch a game on a big screen. Also, because there are not a lot of people the service is flawless, and if you order food it comes out very quickly. If you want to get out of the house but you’re not looking for anything high maintenance this is a good spot.

Point Moorea hits the sweet spot with me – you should know this up front. The things I like about it are sort of specific to me, and, more than most places I take time to review, your mileage may vary. First off, it’s not trying to be hip. Which, to me, is very cool. The bartenders and waitresses are friendly and genuine, rather than artificially brusque(blech) or obsequious. And, though there is a «theme» here, it’s not really pushed that hard. You can ignore it if you like… I do. I didn’t even think of it as a tiki bar until some of the other reviews mentioned it(they’re right, but yeah… it’s a soft theme at most). Also, Knob Creek at a reasonable price(though the other high-end bourbons are pricier). They also have Scotch at prices which are generally reasonable… following my buddy Scott’s «dollar-a-year» rule, you can have a dram of the Lagavulin 16 for your price point. Yum. And while I’m sipping my drink, I get to play pool for free. FREE. If you arrive at any sort of reasonable hour, chances are a table will be free for you to do this. No kidding. And later, if I’m a little hungry, I can eat bar food which is competent(and, in the case of the fries, actually crispy and delicious). Happy hour specials, which I’m not usually around for, make this a great deal on price point alone – although my barfly friends tell me this sort of thing happens elsewhere, too. If there’s a game on, it’s like a little bonus that I get to check that out on a number of new TV screens as I relax and shoot a few games… everything looks great, and the noise level is never oppressive(CRAZY! NOISE! is one of my buttons). One last thing: if you enjoy people-watching, this can be a fun place. It’s an odd mix of convention-folks, airline workers, plus a few locals and random people who just happened across the place(like I did, originally). Makes for an interesting cross-section. Look – when I go to Point Moorea I’m generally wanting to have a comfortable, low-key good time. Not to worry about being seen, or to hook up, or to be wowed by some sort of special ambiance or gimmick. I just want to drink some tasty beverages, and have some fun shooting pool with my g/f or my buddies. And it has never once failed to deliver that to me. Consistency is rare in this town, and I like to reward it.

Happy hour appetizers are good, but the drinks are still a little $$. Great for Thurs night karaōke if you’re a fan. Been to a few office karaōke night/happy hours here that lasted until the wee hours.

I went here on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm and sat at the bar. We were acknowledged pretty quickly but the bartender was busy with another patron. However, he did get our New Castle draft beer within 5 min and ordered our $ 4 cheeseburger/chips before 7p(the cut-off time for early happy hour). It turns out they have an early happy hour(4p-7p) with all appetizers being $ 4. Appetizer selection ranging from crab cakes and buffalo wings to quesadillas, shrimp, and cheeseburgers. They also have a late night happy hour(9p-11p I think it is) where draft beer is discounted from ~$ 7 to $ 4. I believe appetizers were on sale during the late night happy hour as well. The atmosphere was alright. It’s very Polynesian meets Japanese style. The staff were very friendly as it was slow and they could be very attentive. The rather large(but not overbearing) LCDs were showing the latest basketball game therefore making a sports night very do-able. Most patrons were older business-suit types in for an after-work drink. In summary, I had a great happy hour companion and a ‘meh’ cheeseburger with Lays chips. I’d go back. Oh, and btw, it’s VERY accessible via the subway!

I’ve been here a total of four times and each time, it has always been deserted. However, without any specific dinner plans, and nothing worth cooking up at home, we decided to check out the place for happy hour/dinner. The bar is inside Wilshire Grand hotel on 7th/fig. Rumors say that the hotel is owned by a Koreans, and as you walk through the lobby, you better believe it, cause it is crawling with Koreans. But not at this bar… The drinks are not too stiff, but okay, a little pricey as the cocktails run about $ 9 and beers round $ 6. The only reason we went was because the happy hour appetizers are only $ 3, and you can choose from over a dozen options(smaller portions of course). The food isn’t stellar, it’s all relatively fried(typical) bar food. However, the shrimp and crab claws, yum. 2 plump crab claws and about 4 – 5 large cocktail shrimp, yum… the chicken philly cheese sandwich wasn’t too bad either, you can it it in about 6 bites. Other things on the appetizer list: crab cakes, southwest eggrolls, battered fish, quesadillas, cheeseburger, popcorn shrimp. And if you’re a high roller, you can spend the two extra bucks more and splurge on pizza… The food was ok, the atmosphere was quite dead, but the waitress was excellent and we left with a full stomach with cash still in the pockets, I say it was a mission accomplished.

Point Moorea is a tiki bar with cheap $ 3 happy hour appetizers. But one critical item is missing from the happy hour menu — DRINKS. That’s right, no drink specials during happy hour. $ 6.50 for draft beer. Shrimp and crab claw cocktail was good for the price. Decent chicken quesadillas. The cheeseburger is served on a baguette and the beef was very dry. The hot wings were too spicy. I came here with a couple of friends to watch the Laker game. We were seated in the private room with nice cushy sofas and a flat screen tv. We were feelin’ pretty swanky. But the service was slow. Although it was pretty crowded that night, does it really take 20 minutes to get me a freakin beer? Convenient cheap valet parking in front of the hotel.

I travel to LA for business a lot and have stayed at the Wilshire Grand almost a dozen times now and had never been to Point Moorea until last week. A friend asked to meet up for happy hour on a Friday evening so I suggested we go there. The atmosphere was fun — they were showing sport games around the bar and people were playing pool in the back. The happy hour menu had great discounts which made me happy, but weary at the same time; how good would crab cakes be for $ 3 a plate? Well you definitely get what you pay for there. The food quality and service was mediocre although the price is very affordable. Recommendations & Tips: — Don’t expect good deals on the drinks — Stay away from the chicken satay and crab cakes — You can’t go wrong with a piña colada hot chicken wings!

I wish I saw these reviews prior to coming here. A happy hour menu that doesn’t include drinks?! I don’t care how cheap the food is, that doesn’t make up for the ridiculously high priced Hawaiian Punch you sold me that you tried to pass off as a «tropical martini.» I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
