Laughably over-priced(mostly) junk… don’t waste your time, there are much better options in Los Angeles.

I was kind of disappointed by this thrift store. I was told by a friend that it was a gigantic shop with tons of merchandise, so I went in looking for some denim… I saw approximately 20 pairs of women’s jeans, a paltry selection of tops and outerwear, and a rack of super overpriced items with the tags still on. I didn’t stay long enough to browse the housewares, but the location was kind of grimy… I feel like there are much better(and cleaner) locations elsewhere…

In regards to donations, it was a Sunday and raining and they showed up, great. But why do they say«pick up,» when I was doing most all the work loading up their truck; all while one of their guys were chilling in the truck staying dry with the heater on «writing the receipt» the entire time.

Records: See my review under this store’s other listing(same address but thrift store, not dispatch center). Briefly: around 2000 records but not much of interest, though still a few OK items. A lot of laserdiscs.

I usually don’t frequent vintage/thrift stores, I’ve probably only gone a handful of times in my whole life, but what brought me here was that I was making a costume from scratch. Usually I’m good about having an open mind when I go to places I haven’t been to before. Well I don’t know why but I was confident I was going to find the main of piece of my costume on my trip over here. Long story short… I didn’t find it! smh Then why did I rate this place 4 stars still? Well I struck out with the main piece BUT I did find all the accessories for the whole costume. Bam! I’ll just check other vintage stores for the main piece. From what I saw this place has plenty of potential. If I get invited to a couple Halloween costumes this year, I know where I’ll stop by first before checking out some overpriced costume store.

This is my favorite Out of the Closet I have been to yet! I love the one on Glendale Blvd in Atwater Village too, I usually go there right after the Farmer’s Market on Sundays… anyway. I find the most amazing items at the Dispatch Center. I find classy dress clothes for the office and great clothes for going out and all at fantastic pricing. I got a pair of 7 for All Mankind jeans with the tags still on them for $ 24! The staff here are always friendly and kind. I’ll be going back soon to see what other wonderful things I can find and add to my wardrobe or new apartment!

I’m going to up the stars in my rating because the donation truck came today a little after nine! They were extremely helpful and I learned what they take and don’t take. They love books but not encyclopedias(I didn’t have any) They didn’t take my Bell-Howell Super 8 projector nor my Smith-Corona electric typewriter(collectibles that they have a hard time selling) but they DID take my heavy futon couch, my antique wood table, wood chair and several boxes of books. They were done in perhaps 15 minutes time. Great job Out of The Closet!

So… I went back today(two days after my first visit) to look for small picture frames. I found 7 really unique frames. All were marked either $ 1, $ 2, or $ 3. When I took it up to the counter the sweet lady said, oh this one says $ 3 but I’ll charge you $ 2, this one says $ 2 but I’ll charge you $ 1. I ended up only paying 7 bucks for all 7! I love this store!

HORRIBLE parking. Worst of any Thrift store I’ve ever been to. They have a terrific sign on the building that says«Parking in Rear.» Rear of what? Drive around and you’ll see their delivery trucks taking up all of the spaces. Sure, it’s their«Dispatch Center.» Of course they’ll have their trucks there. But don’t advertise something that doesn’t exist! Still though, that’s no reason to not try to shop here. If you’re persistent and cunning, you’ll eventually find a spot along that one way side road of San Fernando Road. And once you get inside, you’ll see that it’s a much larger version of your typical Out of the Closet store. It’s clean and almost looks like a mall store(Old Navy with furniture, perhaps?). The prices here seem higher than other Out of the Closet stores though. I’m not 100% sure about that though. But to whomever prices their speakers — you’re too high! A lot of them have torn woofers and will have to be refoamed. There’s a reason they’re not selling, guys! But, I digress. Overall, I’d recommend this store. The staff IS friendly and helpful. Sometimes a rare thing at these types of stores. ;)

It never fails me, I find something here every time I go. I just wish I had a way to transport most of the shit I find when I’m here… I always find cool furniture like bars and dressers and things. They almost always have good shit.
