The pastrami sandwich here is ridiculously good. It tastes like one of the ingredients is a whole stick of butter. If that’s what it took to make it, I’ll accept the consequences. I went once before and had lightly battered salmon on rice. The rice was predominantly butter, but again… Shit, just eat it and go to the gym later. Worth it. The restaurant has a unique shape, really narrow… See photos. So…I have never had a po’ boy sammich. Don’t judge. I’m saving it for a special restaurant. I think… I think you’re the one, Orleans & York Deli. When I look into your eyes and smell that shrimp, there’s a tingling sensation… Pffft. «Smell that shrimp»? What the hell is wrong with me?

Food is tasty but takes forever if you don’t call your order in. The guy who works there is cool. The girls not so much. Nose ring chick has a serious case of RBF.

Love this place! The gumbo mumbo platter is my favorite thing on the menu. The po boys are great and you can’t go wrong with the Cajun potato salad. Only wish they stayed open later.

My review is more like a 3 ½ but I feel like being slightly generous. The gumbo was good but not the best I’ve had. I’m creole and been to New Orleans and eaten«real» gumbo. That was definitely not the gumbo I was expecting, so I was disappointed. There were definite grease puddles throughout my plate as well. If by any chance I were to order this again, I’d get the rice on the side so it wouldn’t be a thick mound of greasy rice. I like their po boys(shrimp). Also, next time will try the muffalettas(I think that’s how they’re spelled). We’ll see what happens with that:)

It is hard to review a place after just one visit but I am going to give it a try. I recently picked up a bunch of food to go as I was in the Inglewood area on my way home to the valley. Orleans and York has also been on my radar for about a year(they have another location much closer to my work DTLA) I picked up 3 different sandwiches and a few sides after studying the menu in this cute little strip mall gem. Let me tell you everything I saw looked and smelled so good, and the almost 2 hour traffic filled drive home was torture as my order filled my car with the sweet aroma of the crescent city. The minute I got home I dove right in, I was starving! I started with the Fried shrimp and sausage Po-boy. The bread was amazing the shrimp spiced and fried perfect(stayed crisp even after the long drive) the sausage was spiced well but the texture was a bit too processed for my style, still a good sandwich though. I also got the very messy Gumbo-mumbo. Wow what a sandwich, it was very messy but also incredibly tasty. The ground beef mixture was like a flavorful Cajun/creole sloppy Joe mixed with sausage, chicken, shrimp and onions and peppers! You can get this as a messy sandwich or next time I am getting this as a rice bowl, just amazing. last sandwich was the Muffeletta, and this too was amazing. I think I liked it even better being served on Po-boy bread rather than the dry round Italian style from central grocery. As if I didn’t have enough food at home for the family I also got sides of red beans and rice(it was just o. k could have used some more flavor, but was good after adding some hot sauce) also I tried the Cajun macaroni salad(no thanks, think of store bought with cayenne pepper added) and the Inspiration Rice(delicious shrimp rice, gotta have it) Overall I loved the food and look forward to trying out some of the other jewels on their menu, Aloha

I had thought that Langers had the best pastrami but I tried O&Y’s pastrami on soft wheat slices of bread with the Russian dressing and just perfectly flavored slices of meat and it was so heavenly. I’m going to have to get this sandwich on the regular from now on, I had some salt and vinegar chips with it was perfect going down while watching the football today. Finished up with their delicious peach pudding. If you savor a quality pastrami sandwich, you’ve GOT to do yourself a solid and try their version!

This place is absolutely awesome when it comes to their food, very flavorful, I’ve been here a few times when visiting home in California. It’s not that big kinda reminds me of a trolley station because of the way that it’s built, it’s in a little small shopping center off of overhill and Slauson, if it’s a weekend or after 5 you might have to park on the back side street. Anyway I had my favorite Gumbo Mumbo platter which is actually for 2 or 3 people and I can barely finish half by myself. This is the ultimate comfort food, rice, chicken, shrimp, beef sausage, ground beef, onions, and Bell Peppers. My nephew had a Chicken Po Boy. Ok let me start on my review, my nephew and I order our food, about five minutes in he decided he wanted to add something else to our order, so did I which was a half of a French baguette. Waited about 15 minutes for our order to be ready, my nephew grabs the bag and we are almost out of the door before he stops and checks to see if everything is there. So he says they didn’t put your baguette in the bag let me go get it, so I walk up to the counter with him and he proceeds to tell the young lady that it wasn’t added, … Now let me just interrupt and say this little piece of bread was just a little over a dollar. So the young lady looks at us as if we are trying to steal bread… Asked for our receipt(really)? We show her our receipt then she asked to look in our bag(Really Lady)??? We give her our bag. Then she says«We don’t have any up here in the front@ but she said it like they were all gone o_O Then yells in the back for someone to bring her one. WTH is wrong with her?! I just can’t believe she made such a big deal out of a piece of bread. Yeah so we left still kinda confused, because the service is always commendable, but went home ate our food which was very tasty by the way.

Variety choices for food and they are so delicious! Recommend Shrimp Po Boy, Big Mo’s Favorite(Fried Shrimp & Hot-Links), Gumbo Mumbo Platter(Bell Pepper, Onion, Shrimp, Chicken, Beef Sirloin & Beef Sausage). Huge portions, so fulfilling.

$ 12 for a catfish and fries platter that’s big enough to feed you for lunch and dinner. That’s what initially called me to York and Orleans. I had to work in Windsor Hills and was craving home food. I Unilocaled it(thanks Unilocalers) and discovered what has now become one of my favorite stops for lunch. I can’t speak for the po’ boys, although that’s what my friends always get. I can only speak for the fish. It’s delicious! And I always have enough to share with my colleagues or take home for dinner. We’ve eaten inside a few times but the bar that holds about 10 people he still pretty tight when everyone is standing there waiting for their food. We think the potato salad is alright. The cajun potato salad is too spicy. The coleslaw is OK. We wish they had a green salad option. I think we’ve been enough times to try all the desserts. None of them are worth your calories. If you have to have something, have one of the slices of cake. They are good. But there’s an extra ingredient in them that makes you want to give you half of it away. The peach cobbler is too Brady and not sweet enough. The cookies are alright; you can get better at Vons. Go for the fish or the po’ boy and you’ll hit five stars.

The everything here is incredible! The soups! The sandwiches, The dessert! Just everything was so damn enjoyable! There’s a reason why they’ve got 3 locations and that’s cause the food they put out is so damn legit! The po boy is so good. The gumbo to die for… the banana pudding is wow! I need some more in my life! Recommendation: Everything!

I had been anxiously waiting to try Orleans and York after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures. One day when it was on the way to work from a morning meeting, I popped in to grab a Po Boy for lunch. After a few minutes deliberation, I went with the Big Mo’s Favorite. Perhaps I just keep trying to like Po Boy’s and thinking I’m missing something special, but I was not all that blown away by it. The cut up hot link didn’t deliver mouth-popping flavor and the shrimp seemed to merely add another texture. The sauce that came along with the sandwich just delivered an oily additional layer without bringing much heat or flavor of other hot sauces. With lettuce, tomato and mayo as the only additional condiments, it simply felt lacking. At $ 12.49 for the sandwich, I walked away a bit disappointed, but not discouraged. I’d be glad to come back and try some of their tasty-sounding New York Heroes, especially the Long Island one, but at the moment I was not blown away. Once I try some other things that change my mind though I’d be happy to return to update my review.

I was recommended to come here and I was NOT disappointed. XD not only is the shrimp Po Boy ridiculously delicious but I received my food within 5 mins of stepping through the door. And I’ll let you know that the place was packed! If you’re in the area, check this place out!

How is there not a line out the door at lunch time? If it’s your first time I suggest to order the Big Mo’s favorite — hot links AND fried shrimp po boy — best of both worlds. The best part really is their dipping sauce. I’ve also tried the gumbo mumbo sandwich and then the platter another time. The sandwich was way too messy to eat. The platter is huuuuge. It comes out hot and steaming. I had some the next day and it actually tasted better because all the buttery cajun sauce soaked into the rice. All my coworkers love this place, I’m really surprised it doesn’t get that busy. It seems more people take it to go though since there’s not a lot of seating. Portions are huge. Be prepared to feel stuffed.

MOUTHWATERING food, horrible parking! But don’t let the parking discourage you– the hunt to find parking is worth it! If you don’t want to park and have someone to run in– they do online ordering through their website. I’ve never online ordered, just saw the option when I was browsing their site. Shrimp Po Boy($ 11.49) — I got the grilled shrimp. The shrimp are HUGE! delicious and FRESH! I honestly don’t know how else to describe the shrimp, but they are the largest shrimps I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Not sure what is all on it, but it has mayo lettuce tomato on a nice roll but it is really filling. You can get some hot sauce on the side. My mouth is literally watering as I write this, I wish I didn’t live so far away otherwise I’d get one tomorrow! Gumbo Mumbo Platter: bell pepper, onion, shrimp, chicken, beef sirloin & beef sausage all over rice! Again, the shrimp they had in the Gumbo Mumbo was the same shrimp they had in the Po Boy! This was really good, not your typical gumbo more like a jambalaya. Full of flavor, and the portions was HUGE! It has the potential to be split into a couple meals depending how much you can eat. It’s also pretty heavy, so it will leave you full. * Indoor seating is limited: counter only, and a small table for handicap. There is also outdoor seating. * Pick your drinks out of the refrigerator and chips and desserts off the shelves before you order. Service is really good, and fast! * This place can get really crowded, so beware! At least they take card and have clean bathrooms. Fun Fact: Talked to the person working there, and they said it is family owned. Each child in the family has their own location. They were going to franchise it, but the people who wanted to franchise wanted to go the cheap route when making the food and they were not okay with that. If this doesn’t show that they care about the food they are making, I don’t know what does!

This spot is literally becoming one of my favorite Sandwich spots around… If you’re looking for some good southern Nawlins style sandwiches or love a good Tuna, Philly, or Chicken Salad sandwich then look no further folks. This is your one drop stop spot for all that jazz. *First off the sandwiches are huge and they don’t skimp out on the meat and decently priced… Philly Cheese Steak: I consider myself a Philly cheese steak Nazi/Snob. I’ve literally had them all and haven’t been impressed. However, this place surprised me. The meat/cheese consistency is wonderful. It taste like a very full sandwich. What I mean by that is that the cheese/meat and everything else just makes it taste like a super hearty sandwich. Love it. Chicken Salad sandwich: My other favorite sandwich next to the Philly. Very very tasty. Extremely fresh as well. *I can’t speak on any of the Po boy sandwiches. However, if the quality is like any of the sandwiches I’ve had then best believe their shit on point… Parking lot sucks so be advised… Cheers, JY

Yummmmmmmyyy in my tummmmyyy!!! Been trying to go here for quite some time but when I get off of work I’m always exhausted and in a hurry to sit in traffic and go home… Life of a southern Californian I tell ya! Came in and was completely overwhelmed because I’ve heard such great stuff but didn’t know where to begin. Ended up browsing the menu while regulars passed me up and ordered.(I don’t like how they only have one menu posted and it’s right next to the register so you can’t look at the menu while in line until you’re like second or third in line to order…) Finally decided on the SHRIMPANDOYSTERPOBOY and a OYSTERPOBOY for my lil brother. For dessert I grabbed a BANANAPUDDING out the fridge to the right of the cashier and called it a day. The sandwiches are decent in prices, huge and so full of flavor!!! The sandwiches are packed with shrimp and oyster. Everything about this sandwich is heaven, from the flaky and crispy bread down to the freshness of the veggies. Even after driving 25 minutes home the shrimp and oyster were still perfectly crispy and fried. 5 stars**** BANANAPUDDING was great too not too sweet and had just the right amount of vanilla wafers. 4 ½ stars*** looking forward to trying more desserts because they had so much to choose from. This place gets crowded so plan accordingly, or call in an order. I waited about 20 minutes or so for my two sandwiches. Tiny parking lot in the front, but I got lucky and someone was pulling out as I was pulling in. There’s Parking in the back but I didn’t attempt it so can’t give any feed back on that sorry! Can’t wait to come back and try more items! **** ps they’re opening two new locations one in CARSON and the other in DOWNTOWNLA****

1.5 miles away from the Slauson Super Mall. that’s enough to tell you about the area you’re at. But it’s so worth making the trek, because Orleans and York makes super legit Po’ Boys, and(IMO) better than any Po’ Boy I had in ‘nawlins!(Is that too bold of a statement? #sorrynotsorry). Had the: Mo’s Special — Links & Fried Shrimp Po Boy. The links were a good balance to the nicely battered and seasoned shrimp. It’s really heavy, but really, you need to go all out or GOHOME, son. This was a nice in-between from a pure Shrimp Po’ Boy or getting their super beefed up, heavy Gumbo Mumbo(beef, chicken, shrimp, sausage, mayo, etc). Chicken Salad Hero — This is unexpectedly realllyyyyyy delicious and really refreshing! There were huge chunks of roasted chicken, but the chicken salad was really flavorful and not mayo-crazy(actually, it was probably very mayo-heavy, but tasted fresh). Voodoo Chips were extremely salty. EUGHHGHh! But, I have a salt tooth. All good. Their french bread had a nice crunch. I’m a fan of everything here! And a fan of JY!

They have the best cajun sandwiches I have had in a long time. The Shrimp Po Boy sandwiches are to die for! The Gumbo Mumbo is another favourite of mine. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The lines can be long during peak hours. I’ve called in my orders prior to making the drive. They also have some good daily specials on the board by the cashier. This is a must stop joint for all the cajun lovers.

Stopped by with my niece and mom(who just got out of the hospital). My mom wanted something really good since being«tortured» by hospital food. So, we stopped by Orleans and York ! When you first walk in, you’re faced with a display case of all the luscious meats they use for the sandwiches(made me feel giddy!). Then I noticed the enormous display of chips! Got to the counter and received an energetic greeting from the handsome young man behind the counter. In front of the order counter is a mass display of sweet goodies! And there is also a refrigerator filled with package condiments(brought a container of in house made pickles) and great selection of beverages. I got the catfish po’boy. It’s served in a french roll that’s crunchy on the exterior and has a light and fluffy interior. It’s dressed with mayo, lettuce and tomato. And the fish is seasoned well and crispy. And it’s PACKED with fish! I ate the other half the next day and it was just as delicious as the first half! We also brought a slice of white cake with buttercream frosting. That damn piece of cake was delicious!(Not going to share it next time). I base my ratings on the likely hood if I’ll return. Especially if I have to go out of my way, use my precious free time and burn my gas. And the answer with Orleans and York is YES! This is my new favorite sandwich place.
