We arrived at around 7PM on a Friday and we’re happy to find a seat. We liked their ample list of spirits, with a range of affordable and pricey ones. There are no waitresses or waiters, but didn’t wait long for drinks ordered at the bar. The staff was friendly, slick, and knowledgable. The best thing about the place is the décor – tiled walls, an old-fashioned bar– made you feel like you were in another era, maybe East Coast. If you’re hungry, you can have a pretzel– that’s it. But they had a guy outside making tacos(nothing to write home about). This is a liquor joint, plain and simple– and that’s just fine.

Good atmosphere, outside is nice when the temp is nice, but they seemed to just make up the price of my drink off the top of their head. «Uh yeah, you had two gin and tonics, right? That will be, uh, mm, *pause* $ 20» :/

The jalapeño liquor drink, which was recommended by the bar tender, was the most disgusting drink I have ever drank. So gross. Who even invented it? Pretty cool place though.

This place is an old fashion looking bar. I felt like I had stepped foot into the 30’s. :-) Very chill bar with plenty of area to sit. When we went they were playing alternative music at a great volume.

Pretty cool place. They sell cigarettes which is awesome and had a DJ when I came and the music was at a perfect level! It’s not awfully big and it’s great they have a patio. The prices aren’t the best, but far from the worst. If you’re in the area, this is the bar I would choose to go to. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but I would come again.

I was looking for a late night happy hour which brought me to Oldfields, Happy hour weekdays 5 – 9 which includes a delicious list of $ 7 cocktails. This bar is so tucked away, I would have never stumbled upon it. The ambiance alone is so sexy, dimly lit, has such a NYC vibe, I fell in love the moment I walked in. I decided I will be meeting all my future dates here. Bartenders are all identically bearded and friendly, in fact nearly everyone in the bar had some kind of facial hair with the exception of the females. Crowd wasn’t super diverse but the place was packed at 7pm on a Friday. I had the moscow mule which was delicious. Also ordered a $ 5 pretzel with mustard which was crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. My second cocktail was not on the happy hour list but sounded amazing and being from Oregon, of course I had to try the Oregon Trail. Their cocktail list is extensive with lots of variety and cleverly named drinks. Can’t wait to come back!

Good Happy Hour runs late, good for cocktails. A little cold and more formal due to the stellar tile work. Good spot for after-work or meetings, smaller groups.

I definitely enjoy coming to this place. My friend lives in the neighborhood so we come here a lot before heading to Tara’s Himalayan for dinner. There’s always a small crowd but it is never too packed. We generally do beer and wine for happy hour but I have had a couple of their cocktails as well. If I remember correctly I had the amoxicillin and the Moscow mule. They were good but a bit too sweet for my taste. The staff isn’t super chatty but they are definitely attentive and there is always plenty of seating!

We were heading to the South Bay from Beverly Hills at rush hour and decided to wait out the traffic while having a couple of drinks along the way. I remembered reading that Oldfields had really good craft cocktails so I googled the address and headed that way. I was a little surprised when I pulled up. From the outside it looks like any other old dive bar, with the exception of the screened in front porch. We almost decided to just keep doing, but I am glad we did not. The décor is mix of a few different decades from the middle of the last century. Somehow it works. We sat the bar and ordered two different craft cocktails off their menu. As we watched our drinks being made it was obvious we not watching a dive bar bartender, she was a well trained mixologist. Both drinks were excellent. I mentioned that rear of the bar was similar to the back of the bar at Sassafras in Hollywood. The barkeep heard me and let me know that The 1933 Group owns both bars. Well, now the evaluation bar just got raised. The customers were about as varied as could be and everyone was laid back and having a good time. We tried two more craft cocktails(for a total of four different drinks) and they were just as good as the first two. I would recommend this bar to anyone that enjoys a well made drink. Great drinks, cool people and a wonderful ambiance.

Cool art deco-ish décor in the bar. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders are really nice. Very chill, easy going people in the bar who are open to having a chat with randoms. Great for a sociable drink.

Excellent old fashioned/speak easy bar with craft cocktails and a chill vibe. Located randomly amongst some run down apartments and laundry mats, don’t let the exterior deceive you. Lights dim, music chill and drinks a plenty. Bartender had good knowledge on the drinks. I enjoyed myself a mezcal old fashioned along with a a few others, none of which was I disappointed with. Price is what you expect. Only wish there was food to nibble on. Overall, wish I had one by my pad!

Love, love, love this place. The ambience is one of the most amazing things I have experienced in a long time! I love how there was a lot of eye candy as well. Truth be told, I’d like to come back here after I lose a couple of pounds! :) Highly recommended!

Anyone would be proud to have Oldfields as their neighborhood watering hole, and I can now join that group of folks. This place is much nicer than a dive bar; it’s a throwback craft cocktail bar similar to the famous Polite Provisions back in San Diego but not as hipsterish. What I love here: –The classic black and white tiling –The housemade ginger beer –Happy hour EVERY day including weekends until 9PM! Their normally $ 12 cocktails are only $ 5(!) and they have a few food specials. There are drinks like mules(no copper cups though, boo), amoxicillins, Hemingways, etc. –Philadelphia style housemade pretzels! It takes 10 minutes to get it and is really amazing and fresh. Only $ 5 during happy hour. If you want a hot dog in it, it’s $ 7 during happy hour. –Great servers!

They put the«old» in Oldfields, but in a good way! Yes, it’s another old-fashioned cocktail bar, but the ambience is relaxed and friendly, not snooty and hipsterish. They have a sizable but not overwhelming cocktail menu, as well as some craft beers on tap(just a few, as this is mostly a cocktail place). I got one of their seasonal cocktails – The Kentucky Cure(Bourbon, Branca Menta, Crème De Mure, Lemon Juice, Muddled Blackberries & Mint), and my friend got one of their signature drinks, the Blonde Comet(Bourbon, Peach Liqueur, Lemon Juice, Grapefruit Juice, Angostura Bitters). The drinks were interesting, strong, and reasonably priced. It was definitely a nice place to chill out, especially since there was a really cool DJ spinning that night. I forget the guy’s name but he put on a nice variety of 60s, 70s and 80s gems. They may have styled themselves after classic 1930s and 40s lounges, but the vibe was all modern LA. Speaking of LA, parking can definitely be a challenge but if you’re willing to walk you can usually find a spot down one of the nearby streets. I need to come back and try their happy hour! STEPHJUDGEMENT: Friendly chill vibe, intriguing cocktails, plus great DJ.

I stumbled upon Oldfields while looking for a place to kill some time for a bit before Blind Barber opened, and, I have to say, I think my search for my favorite westside bar has finally ended. I arrived right at opening on a Saturday, and it was mostly empty. There is PLENTY of seating inside, plus patio seating outside. The vibe is definitely chill, and, honestly, not super hipster. The manager, Zack(?), was very friendly and showed off some of Oldfield’s offerings. In fact, all of the bartenders my group and I ordered from were amazing, and I always have to give props for quality customer service. As a gin lover, I’ve come to expect most bars to offer the same ol’ boring standard gins: tanqueray, bombay, beefeater, maybe hendrick’s. So when I turned the menu over and saw a whopping twenty-three gins listed(plus one that I tried that was not listed), I was already impressed. And then, on the cocktail menu, I saw quite the list of cocktails, both classic and new, including an aviation(my all time favorite cocktail), a corpse reviver #2, and even an old fashioned inspired gin creation. Yes, my friends — this is a legit cocktail bar. What could make this place even better? They rock a 5−9pm daily happy hour. I liked it so much that my group came back after hanging out at Blind Barber for a bit(and, thankfully, it was still happy hour when we got there). It was definitely more happening late night, and a little louder, but still very chill. There are only two big downsides to this place to me:(1) very limited food options(they offer pretzels and pretzel-wrapped hot dogs) and(2) it is a fifteen minute über ride away from me. That being said, you can have food delivered, and sometimes it’s nice to get away from the craziness of the Santa Monica bar scene. So I give this place a solid five stars. Come check it out!

Amazing locals feel to this Culver City liquor room. All of their cocktails are great and unique! Homemade ginger beer is to die for. Very hipster atmosphere which is a nice change once you’ve finished watching the game at Big West next door. And super reasonable prices. I wish they had more food than just their pretzels but I’m a fatty and always want food.

This place is an awesome, old fashioned joint. Great for cocktails and pretending like you live in the 1920s. They also have a great happy hour that is 7 days a week. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. The mixology is on point. The bartenders have always been very nice. I also recently saw that they offer some food during happy hour which is always a plus. I haven’t tried it, but I plan to. Only bummer is the location. You can’t really walk to any other bars nearby so plan on taking an über.

Oldfields may look underwhelming but it’s definitely the better(and more hipster!) brother to Bigfoot West. Drinks are stiff; I got the Monte Carlo(whiskey, benedictine, and bitters) which happened to the HH special that day and it was a steal at $ 7, but even their regular menu has some nice strong options(try the Mezcal Old Fashioned — but only if you are a serious Mezcal fan!). Plus I dig their attentive bartenders and their fabulous beards. Oldfields is in a sort of isolated part of town, which probably helps contribute to its laid-back vibe. It’s also a little unfortunately, though, because I know if it weren’t I’d be a regular here.

No bartenders here… they got Mixologist here. Sort of like that Porlandia Mixologist episode, they take their time and have millions of ingredients in their drinks. I really don’t know if they have beer really as the entire menu was full with fancy pants liquor and ingredients. I usually judge these type of cocktail bars with two very classic drinks the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned, Now that I laid out the measuring stick this place gets(drum roll)… 3.5÷5, they run a little on expensive side but are just good, not great. I think what really saves this place is how they are able to make such a small piece of real estate into such a free flowing and awesome looking place. For that it really saves this place for their middle of the road drinks.
