I was in the area and stopped by for lunch. We ordered two sprites, came in a can with a cup on the side with ice in it, cool but no free refills meh. My bf ordered the snickers burger and I ordered the ranch chicken wrap they both come with a side of greens or fries. This place is kind of small hole in the wall type place but the food was really good. I tried my bfs snicker burger and it was a good mix of sweet yet spicy burger. The chicken wrap had bacon in it with lettuce, tomatoes, and covered in ranch. It was really good too! I would definitely come back if I was in the area again !

On a short trip to Pacoima, we had a table reserved to go to Myke’s! Very cozy place and has a bunch of really artistic murals and paintings(check the pictures), which sort of reflects how artistic Pacoima is. I had the breakfast burrito which comes with your option of meat(turkey, bacon), potatoes(roasted, fries, hash browns) and eggs. Though it wasn’t the best burrito I’ve had, it was pretty satisfying! Options go from Mexican breakfast/lunch, burgers, sandwiches, crepes, omelettes. What I was very surprised of is that lattes are almost $ 5, which is pretty expensive for the quality! Other than that, the staff is amazingly friendly and kind!

I’ve had better BLT’s in my past. The bacon police should write them up for N.E.B «not enough bacon!» And the fries should be an option instead of adding it to the meal by forcing people to pay extra due to a side. Plus they use lawrys seasoning or something generic which doesn’t even make the fries taste good or what like fries should taste like… too much seasoning kick it down a notch… try asking people if they want seasoning on their order of fries, big game changer you’ll see! Bet they would save more money just using salt vs that lawrys crap lol… next is the sandwich itself, it’s tiny… so size wise I repeat, this BLT is a small sandwich! Where’s the BLT!!! you’d think your getting a nice hefty sandwich especially when you pay 8.50 for a sub… I couldn’t tell if there was any tomatoes in it, the lettuce looked like it died at the farm while packing and the bacon strips were all joined up in the middle, wasn’t appetizing when I saw the lettuce and it baffles me that they still decide to serve it, LOL get some fresh lettuce will you? Too leathery for my liking I prefer crunch in my lettuce! I don’t think these types of small places realize what they are serving and it’s not love. Where is the love?!

The place was nice and service was good but I found their menu quite odd. I think the«standard» American breakfast is regarded as pancakes, eggs and bacon. They have eggs, they have eggs and bacon, but pancakes are sold as a $ 10 fancied up meal. I tried to order the eggs and bacon special, and order a side of pancakes but the waitress said it wouldn’t be possible. Some meals came with a side of one pancake. I also assume the chefs have all the pancake batter in a huge tub, so why not just pour our two pancakes and charge me a few dollars more? Overall, it was a very odd exchange and I couldn’t help but leave confused as to a) Why the restaurant didn’t have a pancakes, eggs and bacon combo like 99.9% of other breakfast places. B) Why I’m not able to order a side of pancakes? While the service was good. The lack of a standard American combo and not being able to order something as simple as a side of pancakes will probably keep me from coming back here. If they change their menu up I’ll return. Otherwise, no.

I’m traveling North America not just in search of the best hole in the wall breakfast, it just seems that way! That said, I can stop now. This is the holy grail! Chorizo omelette with avocado and jack cheese, sounds simple? It never is. Too greasy or too dry. Until today. Here it is an art form. And the pancakes? Mine were NOT shared. Get your own! I had buttermilk with blueberrys and lemon curd AND I ate that AND the omelette with potatoes! The service was outstanding on this busy weekday, all in all with the beats thumping and the local art on the wall it is a perfect day to now go nap.

So my hubs and I came to this hidden gem in the heart of Pacoima. The people here are friendly, the service is pretty slow, but because it’s so packed. The food was pretty good tastes really home made and in normal portions. Price was a little bit on the $$ instead of $ for what it is.

Hmmm… Although the food was good. I have to base this review on their poor service. And I can’t sit here and say«well, it was super busy so I understand». Out of 25 tables only 6 were actually occupied. Let me start by saying that NOONE greeted us. We went in confused(being our first time) thinking we needed to be seated. No one came to us so we proceeded to find a table. We go, sit, and waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come to or table and ask if we’d like something to drink. No apology as far as the wait. She saw us come in and seat ourselves. Whatever, we didn’t put much attention to that. Now, we make our drink order and wait yet another 10 minutes to get our drinks. My mom and grandma got a café de olla and I went with a cold blended mocha coffee. Let me tell you why I’m giving them a 2 star. At this point we have been seated for a good 25 – 30 minutes with our drinks(ATLEAST!) and still NOMENU. Yes, that’s right. Not once did the server come back with the menus. I literally sat there after my mom brought it to my attention that a crowd of 6 people walked in and they were given a menu right away. I made eye contact with a server until he realized that maybe we needed something and he rushed over to our table. He asked if there was anything that we needed and I quickly said«a menu would be nice». He rushed over to get some and apologized in a shaky voice. I’m sure he felt that we were kind of bothered. After 3 minutes we were ready to order and had to wait another 10 to have a waitress come back to take our order. I ordered the breakfast combo with bacon buttermilk pancakes, and my mom and grandma went with an omelette. We waited another 10 – 15 for our orders that were WRONG –_-. We brought it up to our waitress attention and got it fixed in yet another 10 minutes. From what I read, this pace gets really busy. I can’t imagine the service then. Sorry. Food was good but I’d only come here when I have an hour to spend on just waiting around.

Mykes Café is kind of like that one co-worker who doesn’t really do shit. No matter how half assed his work is, under the bosses eyes, he could do no wrong. All you 5 star reviewers are trippin! I’ve been back a few times since my original 3 star review. Perhaps I was the one who was tripping but nope, this place managed to suck in more ways than one. A bunch of staff at the hostess post but not a single greeting, put your name on the list, not even a «how many?». We ordered 1 bacon/beans torta &1 omelette. Nothing crazy. 45 minutes later, the girl mentions how they forgot about our ticket. That’s it? Not even a sorry or something? 45 minutes for a sandwhich &3 eggs folded over? To top it off, this place is in the middle of the effing San Fernando Valley. Hot AF with no AC. Only the ceiling fan on setting #2. Faster than #1 but not on setting #3, where it spins so fast, it looks like it’s going to spin off! Your Homegirl, Violy Ps Service is amateur hour.

Wanted to give this place another chance and my God was it worse. Came in to a 30 min wait but the bar area(self seating was open) and as we were going to sit there MYKE(yes, the owner) tells us to wait. Then proceeds to ask a party that was waiting if they would like to sit there instead! When I asked him why he did that since its self seating he said they also asked. Which was clearly a lie as I was standing next to him when he asked. Then NOSEY-ASSRUDE«manager», Jocelyn, says it was dirty and that’s why we could sit there but then tells Myke they can go self seat… First she wasn’t even there when this all happened and being rude to customers is not the BIZ. You and your sour ass attitude need to go home and come back on a day when you woke up on the right side of the bed. She then finally calls us to sit down and literally almost throws the menus on the table. My sister still even says thank you her response was«mmhmm». Is she serious?!? Thankfully our waitress Araceli was super nice. She asked what happened and when she tells the nosey server/host/bus girl what happened and the girl makes the stupidest face at us. Thumbs down and no kudos to Jocelyn. Araceli was super nice, helpful, and pleasant. I can’t say enough good things about her. She needs to go to a work environment where everyone is as sweet as her. ORRR she needs to train the others on good manners and customer service. 5 stars for Araceli.

First time at the place. it is in quite a shady neighborhood, but if you can get past that then you’ve enter a little hole in the wall place called Myke’s Café. I happened to see the name calendar in the front, and whoa, my first visit, and it’s my name day. yay! So I Google it up and it mentioned in LA Weekly you might get a free meal – what are the chances? Ultimate score! So then I ask the waitress about it and she says I get 10% off, and she didn’t seem the slightest bit enthused that is was my name day. So when the check comes. no discount. So my friend pays on his card, and I plop my ID card on top of it to jog the waitress’ memory. she takes forever to come so eventually I set it down and she grabs and goes. We figure, oh she’ll see the ID and figure it out, because they’re two separate names, blah blah. NOPE! She obviously didn’t check the ID vs. card, hell – I don’t know what she checked. She called me Miss(my middle name here) – not even my last name and hands me the check to sign. UHH. ok. I don’t even know what to say. Let’s have a cool but lame promo that doesn’t really give you much, and then be a dick about it and not even honor it. I wasn’t going to harass her for a whole $ 5 off, but still. like I said, I don’t want to push a promo on some waitress who seems annoyed that it was there to begin with. End of story. So, at the end of the day, how was the food? My bf and our friend liked the carne asada in the fries – me on the other hand, I want to know that my meat actually touched a grill, or touched it till it was seared and cooked instead of possibly being left in a steamer to «stay warm» until it was ready to be served. I got the California Burrito and the Asada Fries. Their fries are nice, they are nice and crispy – in my burrito they also seemed unevenly placed and the first entire end of my burrito was all fries – then they all disappeared in my burrito and I had everything else. The carne asada fries were okay – the carne that they serve is in good chunks, but it doesn’t have a sear that a nice fresh seared asada would have. No greasiness, almost like it was left in a steamer or warmer to finish. This is the kind of carne asada I get from a cafeteria when they are left in the warmers to simmer until they are ready to be used. From a Mexican food place, it was rather disappointing. The likelihood that I will be back to Myke’s just for Myke’s is very slim, though if my friend drags us again, maybe I’ll give breakfast a try since that seems to be a more popular choice than their Mexican food. PS – the food takes an exceptionally long time to make, so if you’re in a rush, go somewhere else.

The pleasure of visiting Myke’s has been mine over a half dozen times. Pancakes are awesome(anything with lemon curd!) and the burgers(molé burger and the Snickers bar burger with bacon!) are amazing. I can only make it here on weekends– because they’re not open past 3pm on any given day. Yes, it’s in the Pacoima ‘hood…but I’ve never had a problem. Sometimes there’s a short wait and the street parking can be challenging. There are a four NEW items on the menu that are worth mentioning: 1) ‘Hood S’mores French Toast $ 13.25– 2 pieces topped with house made s’mores, Nutella, strawberries & bananas(I’ve gotta try this next time!), 2) Lettuce Taco $ 3– with chicken, pico de gallo, crispy rice noodles and sweet & sour sauce wrapped in lettuce, 3) Basil Omelette $ 12.50– with chicken, tomato, mushroom, avocado & feta cheese and 4) Basil Burrito $ 8.25– with chicken, tomatoes, mozzarella &3 eggs. They’ve won some awards: Decadent Pancakes — The Berrylicious on The Huffington Post. The Post also jokingly queried, «Bro Snicker Burger: Wrong or Just Damn Delicious?»(I vote for deliciously wrong!) Their drink menu is pretty creative… Aqua frescas– Horchata, pineapple and fruit, Ice cream floats in bubblegum, orange cream, blue raspberry, root beer & Coke and even a BEERFLOAT– Russian Imperial Stout with vanilla bean ice cream and Horchata! This list continues: bottomless mimosas in orange, peach, fruit punch and pineapple, Michelada in regular, mango and peach, a Dirty Horchata with soju, a soju basil lemonade and a new BEERMIMOSA — in raspberry and apple. Chef/owner Rafael Andrade has really outdone himself. This place is hopping every weekend with families, couples, and foodies. Long live Myke’s with its hot pink tropical décor!

A year later… and I came back. This time I had the basil scramble with home fries. So. Filling. I ate the scramble, half the home fries, and couldn’t take anything else. Well… except some dirty horchata and my usual IV of coffee. Love the giant bowl-cups. Its like someone understands the coffee addict soul. My friend had some pancakes, and was immediately told not to use syrup. I mean… when you have home made lemon curd and cream cheese spread, why would you go with syrup? A few new things to note: 1) In the front entrance, they have a calendar with names associated with the date of the month. If you go in and you share a name that’s listed on that date, 10% off! 2) Airplane seats from Pan Am. Sooo soft and comfy(surprisingly). If airplane food was like this food, no one would complain. 3) Did I mention dirty horchatas? Cause. It was delicious. Staff here are still super friendly, and STILLREFILLEDMYCOFFEEFREQUENTLY. Special place in my heart for those who coffee me up.

I really wanted to LOVE this place. We got seated asap. But it took FOREVER to Get our food! The place wasn’t even packed! We waited about 30 – 45 for our food & we only ordered 2 items… My son spilled chocolate milk on himself bc they didn’t close the lid on his drink properly, even when they saw he spilled they didn’t offer extra napkins or anything… Our server HAD to have forgotten about or food bc when we finally got it, it wasn’t even hot! I ordered an omelette & the Hood smores toast(it was cold). We had to park kinda far since they are facing the street & we didn’t know there was a parking area behind the building. They did have very cool décor inside I am sure if the food was hot/warm it would’ve tasted better but service was crap

Now THIS is what you call a pancake!!! 5 stars hands down on the pancakes!!! Fluffy, huge, delicious, and made fresh… you can’t go wrong. We tried the lemonberrilicious– their best seller. I can see why!!! The reason for the one star knock off? Parking is a pain and the breakfast burrito wasn’t as great as the reviews said. Definitely coming back for the pancakes and to try the Snickers Burger. Rapheal told us that the Snickers is mixed into the meat. How many of you thought it was just a Snickers melted on top? Yea, me too! Lol

Myke’s Café is definitely a hidden gem in the Valley. If you’re ever in the valley I highly recommend this place or you should definitely make the drive. I was lucky enough to met Chef Rafael. It was a pleasure talking to him about how he comes up with creating phenomenal food experiences. Came here on a Sunday(place was packed). Here’s what I got… Snicker Burger: Snickers & bacon inside a hamburger patty, topped with cheese, more bacon, green apple & honey habanero aioli(This is what Myke’s Café is known for & let me just say that this burger was heavenly. The combination of all these ingredients were on «fleek») Berrylemonicious Pancakes: raspberries in buttermilk pancakes with a hint of lemon(this was amazing, it wasn’t too sweet which I loved) Myke’s Café has a large selection of pancakes, burgers & Mexican food. For all you coffee lovers, they serve Intelligentsia coffee here… they also serve alcoholic beverages :) There’s street parking & also they’re a parking lot located in the back. It gets busy so you may need to wait for a table. So worth it!!! xo, Naomi

My friend and I had breakfast here one morning and I was really disappointed, especially since it was featured on KTLA5 news. I expected to be better since they made it on the news. I guess I came in with high expectations. I ordered a non fat vanilla latte and it was pretty good. They have Intelligentsia coffee here. I ordered the red velvet pancakes and it was good the first couple bites, but I was only able eat a quarter of it and was over it. I love my pancakes fluffy and it wasn’t here. My friend ordered French toast Smores filled with strawberry, nutella and banana and there was hardly any nutella on her french toast. Those French toast was featured on the news. How disappointing!!! The décor was black and pink throughout the restaurant with some art pieces on the wall. It was interesting… Parking sucks here. There’s street parking and this area is sketchy. Be careful! This place was just okay to me, but I doubt I’ll come back here.

This review is long overdue, I came here last week with my friend Dora. I was ranting and raving about it since this place was on KTLA5. You would expect since they just made the local news about how good their food was they should live up to it and provide great food and service to all. That wasn’t the case though. First off the neighborhood is sketchy as heck, the parking is sooo difficult I had to park over a block away and walking down the block to the restaurant I heard roosters, I saw this crazy strange looking woman who looked like she was from the exorcist movie walking around, honestly I was quite scared. I actually ran to my car and back! Anyhow since I saw Mykes on the news as it was listed as a restaurant to try a hidden gem as they put it. I had to try it! One of the items that was brand new on their menu that they showed on tv was the Hood Smores French toast which consists of 2 pieces of French Toast, house made smores, nutella, strawberry and banana. For starters I got jipped on the nutella, the cook half a$$ed me on the nutella, per my picture which I have posted they barely put any nutella on there, come on you gotta do better than that? House made smores you mean that little thing of marshmallow or whip crème thing on top or whatever that is it’s barely any smores, I was thinking graham cracker or something, I dont know presentation was whatever and honestly the french toast wasn’t that good barely even finished it all it didn’t have that WOW factor I was hoping for. My friend Dora got the red velvet pancakes the first few bites were good but after a while it just tasted funky and wasn’t that appetizing. The décor was black and pink, art housey and had a bunch of celebrity pictures plastered all over the wall near the register. The service was so average nothing special at all. All in all this place sucks, I wouldn’t come back, I’m pretty dissapointed!
