Great Mom & Pop butchery, small businesses like this that serve higher quality products than what you would find at your large chain supermarket are quickly dying out and it’s good to see one still surviving. I have yet to try their meat, but as I live across the street I plan to become a frequent customer. I did however buy some sashimi which they also offer, surprisingly. It was the sushi chef’s day off, but since I was only after some sashimi they very kindly offered to make me a plate and they even said they would add some extra sashimi in to compensate for the chef not being around. It was a huge plate of sashimi, plus they threw in a free chicken salad all for $ 30. So the customer service aspect of this place is great. It is true that the owners English is pretty limited, but the young guy that also works there, who I can only assume is their son, speaks great English and was very eager to help out since they don’t get a lot of non-Korean business. If you’re looking for great cuts of grass fed, organic beef definitely give this place a look and if you want good quality sashimi at a reasonable price, also stop by this place.

We all know Korean BBQ has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years. But not everyone likes or has the time to dine at a Restaraunt. Sometimes we seek an alternative to eating Korean BBQ. Montana’s has the perfect answer and cure to your BBQ cravings. Whether or not you’re planning to grill it up kbbq style you know you want good meat. There are few spots in Ktown that has a decent selection of meat but not all of them have the goods that live up to our spoiled palettes. At Montana’s there is no reason for you to leave disappointed, call in advance and reserve the meat you want, not sure what you want? Consult with one of their specialists to see what meat would be best suited for your dining occasion. My family and I have been buying meat from here for a few months now and it has never let us down. The meat we buy here are usually the Short ribs, we can either have it plain or have them marinate it for us. Either way I can truly vouch for the quality of the meat selection here. They truly don’t serve anything average, every cut of meat here is to be on-par with some of the best steak and BBQ houses around. Go in and try it, you will not regret it. In addition to the amazing selection of meat, they have fresh seafood that comes in twice a day, whether you’re in the mood for sashimi salad or Chirashi bowl, they got you covered. I have recommended their seafood for many of my friends offices and they all loved it, true value in their buck! Lastly, I know for a fact that if there was a Rolls Royce of meat, this place would be equivalent to such comparison. And yes I love meat so I do my work when it comes to finding the best meat available!

Do not go. Worst experience ever. Horrible food and horrible customer service. Knowingly gives food with subpar quality, admits it, and doesn’t offer a refund.

This butcher turned up in a google search and was not too far from me, which is important in LA. I wanted to buy something grass fed and«organic», whatever the hell that means these days. I grew up with the farm experience in my life, so I know what it’s like to have artisanal pasture fed livestock. I’m willing to pay more for an animal that was treated better than what happens in industrial farms today. Anyways, on to the review. I’ve yet to try the meat yet, although it does look good in my fridge. I wanted short ribs on the bone for braising. All the meats that were ready were for Korean BBQ or shabu shabu… Thin cuts ready for chopstick handling. To be expected from a meat shop in K-Town. I tried asking one guy if he could cut something on demand, but he pretended not to understand English. Thankfully I was able to turn to a nice Mexican guy in the back who went to the cold room and brought out a slab of rib and cut it to spec. It was a bit pricier than your average grocer, but you have to remember this: It’s a good deal compared to Whole Foods, if indeed it’s the same kind of quality. Bottom line: If you don’t speak Korean, pray that the nice Mexican butcher is there to help you. As for the meat, well you’ll probably get what you came for.

Awesome! They were so informed and willing to give us as much info as we requested. Love that the cattle is treated right before hand. :)
