I have tried calling several times over a few days and differing hours time and have never had a representative answer a phone call. I simply have want to know when they charge cover and details of their hours(and other booking details) to plan my best friends’ day bash… but to no avail. I have heard mixed reviews but always considered it a solid candidate. Too bad it’s not too professional. :( Postponing a trip there yet again. Hope one day to have an awesome time. Maybe it takes a regular to plan a great night.

MJ’s is your typical super gay, transvestite friendly club, without a door on one of the bathroom stalls, and multiple signs warning of a strict no-drug policy(which means that the gays are doing drugs on the dancefloor!!!) The dance floor and bar layout is perfect! The architects had enough sense to create the bar island with wide hallways on all sides. They were also smart enough to make the decorations look neutral enough to fit any era or any theme. You will never see a girl on that stripper pole… usually always a hot ethnically ambiguous male. Again, this place is incredibly gay. There is a stage, hopefully they throw foam parties often. Outside is another bar and space to rendezvous and chat. The one question I have about this place: There are two bathrooms— one for women and one for men — - but why do they both have urinals?

TRANSSEXUAL night(Goddess night) on MONDAY night. This place looks real nice, its very upscale night and modern at the same time but cuz its Goddess night-Transsexual night it has a «hot» atmosphere. At least 3 transsexual gurls go-go dancing at a time(no, its not a strip club, its go-go dancing for sexy atmosphere)… And, so it has a hot SHOW-lips singing and dancing by always hot transsexual gurls(no, no transvestite nor drag queens, transsexuals hot gurls) that do sexy themes and sexy popular songs.. You get a lot of entertainment even if don’t get to hook up. Hot show n a lot of sexy t-gurls. A lot of ny girlfriends go there(This is the only transsexual night on Mondays for trannies-transsexual gurls in LA I believe). It is one of the hottest transsexual nights in LA region. Very well mix sexy crowd like latina t-girls, asian transsexual gurls, some blacks and black mix and few white dots. You will feel your at the right spot. I just wish there was more guys

My disappointed visit on June 18th2013. I used to go to MJ’s a few years ago and it was the place to be on Tuesday nights, it was pack, lots of gogo boys, great music and shirtless bartenders. I’m sorry guys, but what happened? I know you can bring back what it used to be. I talked to at least 10 guys that night and 90% of the guys said the same thing. They were just there because it was the closes place to be and not because they really wanted to be. I requested the fog machine to bring people in the mood to dance and DJ Stalker Channing couldn’t find the promoter, one hour later I asked again and She said the fog machine was broken(My personal opinion was that she didn’t want to deal with that problem anymore) Anyways, I’ll give it another try in a few months to see if those bartender are shirtless, great music, lights and the fog machine of course. Don’t let me down MJ’s.

This place is pretty laid back. I love the industrial feel of the bar, the bar is in the center of the establishment which I really like. That allows for patrons to get a beer at almost any angle if one side is busy. There is a pool table in the back– granted it is not up to pool tournament quality, but I love bars with pool tables. Pool tables allows great synergy between patrons with positive competition in a relaxed environment. One reason why this bar rocks is the bartenders. After drinking a few beers, ordered two cokes in a row to sober up and the bartender didn’t even charge me. That is the key reason why this bar pushes to the 5 star level– responsible ownership that trickles down to the staff. You can park @ Trader Joes during the week with no parking fee. Beers are about $ 4 which is a bargain for the bar scene in LA, but you will need to pay a $ 8 – 10 cover so be ready for that.

I love MJ’s…the bartenders are always so nice, and the owner, Mr. Anthony Lopez, rocks. I love the music, too. Visit this place once, and you will be hooked.

I like this place. It’s just different from all those WeHo spots. Here feels like people like bigger guys. I’ve been here 3 times now. Each time has been a bit different. I usually come on Friday nights and it’s usually packed.

This place is dead, dead, dead… Cover Charge on a Thursday really? The covers are a bit excessive, the drinks are weak, the bartenders are not cute or particularly friendly. Most of the gogo boys are boring. The music is repetitive and too top 40s. Lots of Valley trash girls are starting to flock here… Too bad, because this place used to be really fun. They need new promotoers or a new manager.

It irks me that I keep coming back to MJ’s. The ridiculous cover(in this part of town? At a gay bar? Are you kidding?) is only the beginning. The drink prices are inconsistent and the bartenders aren’t too attentive. It’s none too clean. The gogo boys are kind of boring. Now for why I keep coming back: there’s nothing quite like it. Oh, and I like how quiet it is… what with so few clientele.

This is my third visit to this place and it was okay. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it, but I also don’t have anything fantastic to say about it… it’s just sort of there. The bartenders can be a bit obnoxious depending on who you deal with and the clientele is really anyone… there is no real specific«type» there, which is good thing, I guess. The music and ambiance does change depending on which evening you go out. I was here on a Thursday night and it had an «Arabian Nights» theme, which actually had some great Middle Eastern music, something pretty unique and something you probably won’t hear at too many other spots — I really liked it. It was a an $ 8 cover, which was not great, but I guess it keeps out the riff-raff.

I love trying anything once… This was my first time ever at a gay bar… and BOY did I have fun!!! I thought gay bars were for both types, male and female but I believe this one was strictly a gay male bar. If you’re wondering how I ended up here, well it’s simple. I had other plans to go out, but the show I was gonna go see ended up getting sold out so I looked for other events around the area. I stumbled upon«SHOWGIRLS» in Drag and decided, what the hay, it sounds like fun! If you get the chance to see it, I really recomment it. I’ve never seen a drag show in person figured it would be fun and yes it was! My friend and I were the only girls there at the beginning, little by little we saw other girls trickling in but mainly it was all male. After the show was over and a few drinks, we hit the dance floor. Which maybe from TV I had the wrong perception but I always thought gay males would be dancing from the moment they walked through the door, but everyone was just standing around talking. I like to think that my friend and I really got things going because shortly after we hit the dance floor people finally started dancing. I don’t remember what time it was when they announced Club Whore… The dragtastic ladies put on a great perfomance tribute show to the late Whitney Houston. Awesome! Anyways… The 5 stars come from: 1. The bartenders: Super nice and sweet 2. The music; I believe DJ Jewel — amazing mix of music! 3. The staff: As nice and sweet as the bartenders 4. The setup: TV screens and décor are super sexy 5. The bathrooms. They’re unisex and both males and females can go in at the same time. Lol — which probably didn’t bother the guys when I walked in cuz they figured — gay bar, she must be a lesbian — but I’m not and I enjoyed seeing the men pee in front of me. haha! For it being my first time at a gay bar I gave it 5 stars. So don’t take my word for it you might find it boring as heck but at least check it out and give it a shot. Shout out to Tom the best bartender serving me Pussy Foots!

Gogo boys!!! Bartenders without attitudes!!! No divas!!! The music is cool… less hip hoppy than WeHo thank god!!! The drinks are strong!!! Apparently there is more of an alternative gay crowd(but without the leather and… ugh…hairiness) here which is really appealing to me!!! There is a cover charge unless you get on their email list.

Ugh … usually the worst nights of my life include a visit to MJ’s. On my most recent trip, they had a problem with the cash register printer, and had to use another one… then experienced another problem with that computer and moved on to a third? AnywayzzZzzz… I watched them swipe my card about 20 times(issues with the reader?) and they assured me only one charge went through… Ughhhhhhh, 3 charges and 72 hours later and I’m STILL waiting for them to drop off! Fuck my life, I guess, and thanks for ruining my weekend! :((((((((((((

My friend’s gay guy friend was coming back into LA from Hawaii after recently celebrating his 40th birthday and he decided to stop over for the evening before driving home to Santa Barbara. His plan for the Saturday night? Gay bars. Of course we being straight would have loved to have gone to a place where we had a chance to mingle with our own kind but let me tell you after coming here it makes me sad that we don’t have this sort of place for heterosexuals. Fast forward an hour into the experience and my friend and I were in the middle of the dance floor with flashing strobe lights, covered from head to toe with bubbles from the bubble machine and jumping up and down to a re-mix of «Born This Way» by Lady Gage mixed with Madonna’s «Express Yourself». I was wearing my new jacket I had scored at the Goodwill for ten bucks that was denim with fur on the collar and end sleeves and I kept getting compliments all night from guys saying it was hot and was it going to bite them, mrrroow! Of course with wall to wall people and bubbles I had to take advantage of the free coat check to keep it from getting soaked beforehand. They have all male go-go dancers dancing in their underwear up on the platforms all around the room. You can touch their bodies for a couple of dollars if you are into washboard abs and rock solid pecs(these guys have amazing bodies but they also know it and are pretty cocky no pun intended). For straight ladies this is worth the experience and a lot of the male dancers are straight anyway. There is an outdoor patio in the back that has a hot tub and tables and chairs. Being a male gay club there are no female bathrooms so if you are female and come here you will have to use the men’s restroom. The energy of this place is so carefree and fun; this is what I was saying about how too bad there isn’t a place with such carefree fun like this for straight people. It seems like perhaps sometimes we take ourselves way too seriously. The reason why I deduct a star is because if you order a bottle of beer you don’t get your full bottle– they pour it up into a plastic cup so you miss the whole amount. Also their mixed drinks are really small. Be aware that on popular nights this place can have a long wait. Though a male gay bar its energy makes it fun for everyone.

The first time I wanted to go to MJs I was in line for almost 45 minutes, got to the front of the line, and the club was shut down. Thank you fire department, so of course I was still curious to what was inside this MJs. 6 months later, I decided to return, on a Tuesday nonetheless. I figured, this place cannot serious be poppin’ on a Tuesday right? I’m sure it’ll be chill, half packed, and with semi-average-looking gay-guys(definitely not gay guys at The Abbey/bartenders at Fiesta Cantina hot) but I’m sure it would be chill for a non-WEHO venue. Well was I taken aback when this place was all that and a bag of chips. go-go dancers: A– attractive but on the skinnier side drinks: strong strong, bar outside, bar inside bonus: free shot, possibly free porn/t-shirts, hot body contest bonus bonus: go-go dancers in tighty whities in both a hot tub and clear shower, actually showering… i know, i know. you can only imagine Overall, very impressive The club to go to and have a very good time, when you need a break from WEHO gay clubs, that is.

Came here on a «Fresh Meat Friday» night at friend’s request to celebrate his birthday, it was pride weekend so WeHo would have been too crazy! Small venue but it made up for it with everything else that was going on. Parking is $ 4 at the Trader Joe’s lot next door, cover is $ 10 but apparently you can get in free if you are on their list via facebook, myspace or other various promos. When walking into the place I was surprised at the number of go-gos they have, maybe 8 – 9 guys was wondering if they normally have that many dancers or it was just because of pride weekend. The super nice bartender Chris mixed up tasty drinks, helping our b-day boy on his path to inebriation. =) The drinks were around $ 9 – 10 and a couple times during the night they were hawking $ 2 Jäger shots for a duration of 2 – 3 songs. Our group was first to hit the dance floor, but by the end of the night the floor was packed like fudge. I like the multicolored lighting but thought that the fog machine and lasers were a overkill. I don’t know why people don’t automatically mob the dance floor because there you are surrounded by go-gos which makes for easier gawking! On the screens some hardcore pr0n was being played advertising a hookup site. =O The outside patio is very chill, a great place to rest your feet from dancing on one of the stools and catch some fresh air. Since it’s smaller than other clubs it promotes an environment where you can actually have a conversation. Also the general clientèle seem to be mature and laid back than the clubs in Weho. But at one point in the night my female presence was questioned by a dancing leather-vested dude. =T Whatever you can have your club, I don’t like the scene that much anyways… house parties are way better! Don’t be confused by the bathrooms, yep they are unisex! A friend reported that some scandalous stuff seemed to go down in the bathrooms… a go-go and another guy sharing the same stall?! Hey-oh! By the end of the night our b-day boy was drunk and was almost kicked out since he wouldn’t stop grabbing the @$$es of the contestants in the Hot @$$ contest! x_X It took half our group to pull him away from the stage. Though he doesn’t admit any wrong doing and conveniently doesn’t remember certain parts, he had a good time and would go here again… I just won’t be going with him. =p

I’ve avoided MJs for a long time because I always thought it was a raunchy gay bar. I now realize it’s because the friend that always invites me wishes it was actually raunchy! It’s actually very nice, clean, large front bar, lots of go-go dancers(I’ve never seen that many before gathered in one gay before), a decently sized back patio full of people smoking cloves with a smaller bar out back. The crowd for«Meat Fridays» was mixed and mostly nice. I got drinks from the older bartender who called me «hon» but the younger tatted one called me «ma’am» after telling me to keep his area clear. Um, okay. Music is the usual top 40 dance stuff. I didn’t like how tiny the dance floor was but it puts you right in the middle of all the dancers. There wasn’t supposed to be cover but they charged $ 10 for«the show» Ongina was hosting. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much of a show and I felt vaguely ripped off. Then again, they did have cocktail specials all night so it made up for it. I’d probably come again since I think it’s way cleaner than Akbar but Akbar has a better dance floor.

You’re in danger of losing another star, MJs. Came here last Tuesday and saw two huge lines(which I later heard were staged to make it look busy. How gay is that?) I went up to the line monitor to ask a question and the jerk gave me attitude like some puffed up princess. Let me remind you that you are a LINEMONITORAT A GAYBAR, not the fricken Pontifical Swiss Guard. . and let me ALSO remind you that you made out with me last year on New Years when you were totally wasted. So don’t get all high and mighty on me, missy.

I’ve been meaning to check it out for a while, so since I had some very jetlagged houseguests staying with me tonight, and they were wiped out by 10pm, I thought it a good opportunity to duck out for an hour and grab a nightcap at a new venue. It was a cliché gay bar, but in a fun way. Smoke machines, metallic industrial interior design, strobe lights, disco lighting. I liked it. I was in the mood for just that tonight. There were four gogo dancers there tonight, every one of them hot. That’s rare. Four-for-four. Strong, MJ’s, strong. One of them did a little dance routine in the shower stall out back and that reminded me of Raidd in Paris, my favorite gay bar EVER, which is just all kinds of fond memories. Drinks were reasonable, cover of $ 7 was a bit of a bummer, and parking was easy. So overall… a winner…

I have to be honest, I remember little about Mj’s I do recall it being: 1. Fun-bartenders were hilarious and super sweet. 2. HOT– As in the guy dancing in skivvies for the nightly entertainment 3.Flirty — few girls there but still ;) 4. great booze presentation. I love the bar in the main room, I tried some spiced rum there that is either made or imported by the owner, it’s all a haze now, but it was the best damned spiced rum I’ve ever tried, def. not Capt Morgan(eww) Wish I knew how to get a bottle!
