I can’t say enough good things about Jennifer(Theater Manager)! We lost our location for a short film only a week from shooting and somehow through friends of friends came upon McCadden Place Theater. Jennifer practically crewed on the film with the amount of attention and care she gave our production. We felt so taken care of throughout the entire process. Jennifer was direct about the rules and hands on about helping any way she could. It was really the perfect balance of order and support. That sounds funny saying but it’s the perfect mixture in a situation like this where you are trying to create on deadlines. I have been back and I will go back again, without question. It was refreshing having someone so willing to help make something you want come to life. Locations can be the hardest/most complicated part of any production(as in the fact that we lost our initial location) and this experience was unique in its effortlessness and that is all due to Jennifer… …Thank you!

The marquee – brave and sentry-like – shines like a beacon on the dark, lonely corner of McCadden and Lexington… Having never before been to the McCadden Place Theatre, we drove to Theatre Row in Hollywood for the final performance of «An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein.» And we had a great time! The theatre is small, and the lobby smaller. In fact, it’s so compact that practically everyone had to wait outside until performance time, but you can’t knock the place for that. It’s intimate, and – hopefully – this is why you came anyway. I didn’t count, but the theatre seats about 90 – 100 guests, I imagine. The unadorned, completely blackened stage is reminiscent of «black box theatre” – limited set, simple lighting. Being such, technology is de-emphasized. In exchange, however, the McCadden offers a truer – some might say«purer” – focus: performance. It’s a refreshing change of pace sometimes when theatre – beyond the glitz and glamour of sensationalized, big budget productions – explores the human element rather than the technological. I can appreciate that. And, I am sure, you will too. **Tips** * McCadden is off Santa Monica Blvd. Originally, our plan was to eat somewhere close before making our way to the show. We thought: the closer, the better. However, restaurant choices were limited unless you fancied Thai, Mexican, or fast food, which were literally on every block. Advice: plan first. * Parking: we just parked on the street. It’s metered, and we paid, but I’m not sure it would have mattered much if we hadn’t. I hadn’t noticed any special parking made available for patrons.
