Mateo’s Deli Cafe

Just moved to Highland Park and came across this awesome low key deli. Great customer service and great food! And on Fridays, buy 3 get 1 free tacos!

My BF & I went by today and had the apple walnut pancakes, crab cake Benedict’s & freshly squeezed O.J., it was amazing! We also tried out his variety of salsa’s and they’re great. Tuesday’s he has $ 1 taco’s and Friday’s buy 3 taco’s get 1 free. There are two tables outside so you can bring the pups.

Just finished the Jamaican jerk/​pulled pork sandwich and it was totally solid. Not as much heat as you’d expect – which is totally fine – if you love spice, you’ll surely be able to find hot sauce – otherwise you can still love the sandwich capsaicin-​free.
The bread was soft – toasted around the edges to give it texture and the papaya-​y slaw was a hit, too. Got it with a side salad and the entire meal ran $ 7.50. Worth every penny!
