We came here with a group of friends for my fiancé’s birthday dinner. Even though we had a large group and everyone was bit late, the hostess was lovely and very patient with us. We ordered some BBQ for the table, as well as some other traditional dishes to share. Everyone thought the meat was really top-notch, and the other dishes were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, they were not yet set up for Mandu(the restaurant was recently re-opened?) The waitress was very polite and attentive. The atmosphere is very elegant and grand with high ceilings– It’s an ideal place for a celebration with a large group. I have lived in K-town for awhile so I am used to my fiancé and I being the only non-Korean diners when we go out to eat at small local restaurants. However, considering that the neighborhood is quite diverse, and the restaurant is more upscale and at the Intersection of two major streets(Wilshire and Western) I was surprised that there were not enough English language menus for everyone at the table. When I called to make the reservation, the phone was answered in Korean. There isn’t really a clear entrance from the street(it’s inside the shopping court) and the banner near the entry… Also in Korean– a bit confusing for the guests we invited. While this was a lovely dining experience overall, I can’t help but think there is a missed opportunity here to make the restaurant more accessible to guests who do not speak or read Korean.

Best mul naeng myun in koreatown! This place is always so busy coming in during lunch or dinner hours might result in a bit of a wait! Service was very good and all staff is super friendly and actually offered to refill our side dish! I love this place. Definitely will come again!

Lunch on Thursday, 7÷2÷15(first time visiting) My co-workers and I wanted to grab AYCE Korean BBQ but there were none close enough for us so we decided on MaDang. We’ve passed by this place a few times and noticed it was fancy-looking but usually pretty empty. The restaurant itself has a lot of themed decorations. The ambiance seems casual although lots of business workers were there. We got seated immediately and the servers came by our table throughout our meal. My co-worker recommended the spicy beef soup while she ordered a beef soup with Napa cabbage and another co-worker tried the bulgogi lunch set. The food didn’t take too long and we also had ban chan dishes to start off. All the ban chan appetizers were delicious. My spicy beef soup was also tasty. I finished the entire bowl of steamed rice, which I normally would not. My co-workers also enjoyed their lunch although we expected the bulgogi to be brought out raw so we could do the cooking ourselves. I would definitely come back again to try their charcoal grill. I really enjoyed the spicy beef soup and their lunch prices were decent.

By far my favorite Korean bbq experience ever! The interior of the restaurant was very modern with the high ceilings and gave a pretty good ambience! Great place for family dinners and date nights. The quality of the meat was off the top! And they also had a great variety of the side dishes which were also amazing. Excellent service! All the servers were very attentive and nice. Will most definitely come back!

I was hear yesterday. And it was amazing! I liked how their fire thing is very new and it literally takes all the smokes that comes out from the bbq. I also liked their food too. I had bbq and their Yukhwae, which was really tasty. And Yukhwae was my favoriteee. I will definitely come back here, and try their noodles(naengmyeon). Also their servers were nice. They always checked on me if I was doing okay even though they seem busy. As a result I’m really happy about my choice of going here and will come back soooon!

Excellent service. Excellent meat quality. Excellent vibe. Perfect for family dinners, company meetings, and dates. For private rooms, ask for the rooms located on the second floor level.

Thought things would be better but unfortunately things got worse. Totally got fooled by not paying extra close attention to the pricing. We got here a bit after 3pm so we missed the lunch special pricing. The menu is definitely misleading if you are not in the habit of reading the fine print. It was already on the more expensive side to pay 10 bucks for mediocre daenjangjigae and bibimbap but 12 bucks for each of these things? Come on. The décor is nice and all but the quality of food and really spotty customer service does NOT make up for it. For ex I asked the waiter if I could get a small bowl of hot water so I could defrost my baby’s milk bottle that had solid ice chunks in it. He said they don’t have any hot water, just hot tea(he meant the free hot barley tea that we were drinking), and he walked away. Um… wow. So I ended up using the side of my stone pot daenjangjigae to warm up the bottle and then I just asked for more hot tea and poured a little into a small bowl and used that to defrost. Then halfway through our meal our waiter disappeared and we were attended to by someone else. Then the whole pricing issue happened. Augh. it would’ve been less annoying explaining to the guy we ordered from than a new person. We totally ordered off their«lunch menu» and if he saw that he should’ve told us lunch was over but instead we got this new person basically saying it was our fault for not reading carefully. Wish I had the balls to not tip but I did anyway, though a little less than 15%(which I rarely do). It just left a bad taste in my mouth physically and experientially. The daenjangjigae was not conplex nor deep nor soul quenching nor affordable. The bibimbap my husband got was not his favorite. All in all we left angry and disappointed. Too bad. The only reason they don’t get 1 star is because they had a changing table in the bathroom so for that I have to commend them.

Ambiance reminds me of a temple or a castle– very modern but high ceilings, wood, and fake stone combine with big windows and lots of light. Plentiful ban chan complete with potato salad, kim chi, and dried shrimp. I forget the name of the cold noodle dish I had, but mixed with bits of fruit and whatnot were all very good– done spicy was a refreshing blend. A bit expensive but not too bad. Given the stiff competition in the area, you’re clearly paying for ambiance here. 3.5 stars.

Made a reservation for a party of 12 for a company dinner. The room we were given looked like a prison cell and had a hole in the wall. The room was also on the second floor, so every time someone had to use to restroom, we had to walk down a long flight of stairs because the dirty bathrooms are only on the first floor. We decided to order the course menu that was priced at $ 45 dollars per person and two bottles of wine. The food combination was atrocious, and it was clear that they put absolutely no thought into the menu. To make things worse, the entire room only contained 2 tiny grills. TWOTINYGRILLSFOR12PEOPLE! Therefore, the meat that we had to cook(the servers will not cook your meat for you like other places) took forever! Service was horrible. There was one waitress that served all 12 of us. Since we were located in the corner of the second floor, it was impossible for us to get anyone’s attention when we needed anything. It got to the point where one of us would have to step outside of the room to get the waitress just for more water. COMPLETELYUNACCEPTABLE! I would have let no tip at all, but they automatically tack on an 18% tip for large parties(completely undeserved) to your bill. In the end, I was charged $ 800 dollars for snobby service, non-existing décor, and mediocre food. Save yourself the trouble, and go somewhere else.

This review is for a visit on April 29, 2015: Approximately ~3pm, I enjoyed a perfect experience and this day being my day off, I sought for a quiet lunch alone. The friendly hostess was welcoming and friendly and pleasant. Perfect start to a perfect meal! My server, Min Woo, was really great! Attentive without being intrusive. He gave such perfect service, I left him $ 20.00 gratuity on top of my $ 49.00 bill. This is 2015, so I expect to spend about $ 70 – 80 for a perfect solo lunch in a modern and relaxing environment. I ordered Pa Jun, Steak Tartare Bibimbap, Iced Tea, soju, and shaved ice for dessert. I wish I could have finished everything, but the portions are substantial so I couldn’t eat it all. Very enjoyable and very tasty! I especially loved the steak tartare. Wow!!! 5-Stars without any hesitation! Thank you for being a part of my wonderful day!

My friend and I went there for lunch for the first time on a whim and we decided to check it out! I LOVED it! One of the BEST kimchi pancakes we have ever tried!!! I loved my lunch set, so many side dishes, great BULGOGI and they also had brown rice and didn’t charge any extra fee! My friend tried this raw crab dish and didn’t know it was going to be that so she wasn’t satisfied but loved everything else :)

This restaurant is upscale, modern and elegant with high ceilings and a nice sense of openness. If you are planning to impress someone or on a date, this place is for you. After eating, you can sit in the outside lounge and sip on your favorite drink. I wanted to rate this 3 ½ star. So, I guess I will round it up because of the ambiance. The food was good and the presentation was nice. Although, it was a little on the pricey side for Korean comfort food. We ordered: Appetizers: Pa Jun: Korean pancake: great taste and not too much oil. Soon Dae: Steamed Blood Sausage: better than I expected. A big plate enough to share with a group. Entrées: Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap: good flavor just wished the pot was hot enough to make the rice a little crispy. Gal Bi Tang: nothing too special. Good portion of Gal bi. We had a large group and had great service.

Huge parking w validation. Great service. Beautiful ambience. Very traditional korean interior. Has other amenities in the complex so easy to kill time while waiting for your friend. Restaurant takes last order at 10pm, but bar opens until 1am(can order food too), with patio + fire place available. Great food. Can have bbq OR regular single entrees. They have a full bar w nice and humorous bar tender(Andrew) to keep u company.

I had a business lunch here and it was above average. It’s a higher end Korean dining place and especially for a professional meeting, I think it fits the bill. For fancy Korean my default is generally Yongsusan, but this place is a little more casual while more formal. The prices for lunch are actually pretty decent, under $ 15 per person. I had the salmon lunch special and it was good, one piece of salmon was cooked perfectly while the other was really dry but overall, good food. They also had attentive service which was nice and unfortunately a bit unlike Korean eateries. For business, think it’s perfect. It’s located inside the Madang mall where there’s CGV cinemas, Daiso, etc. It’s also validated parking for 4 hours.

Hm — I would actually give this place a 3.5, but I bumped it up to a 4 because — why not? Anyways, the place is within a pretty cool little mini mall, but the parking situation is SUPER annoying. I completely regretted not going for the valet while I had the chance. So my advice is that if you’re going just for dinner or dinner and a movie, valet your damn car. The price is worth the stress of finding a parking spot in a very narrow structure, and not dealing with the line. Moving on. I went here with my mom in the late afternoon for an early dinner… so let’s get to it. The service was pretty annoying. I’ll chalk it up to the fact that we were sitting in the bar area. My order was completely wrong, because the dude was too impatient to just hear out my order. No matter… the food itself? Delicious. Really great flavors, plus you get your choice of three different types of rice… I’m not sure what else to say besides how good the food is. Oh, also it’s pretty nice inside. It’s big and airy and the music isn’t on too loud. So it’d be a great spot for me to hit with a bunch of my girlfriends as well. :) I’ll definitely be back.

I stopped by MaDang 621 on a Thursday afternoon. It’s located in a mini mall with Daiso and Tom N Tom. My colleague and I ordered the Bibimpap for $ 9.99. There was a lot of chopped Romaine lettuce as opposed to the traditional Bibimpap. I didn’t really care for it.

Nicely decorated inside and parking is convenient compare to other valet only ktown malls. I think the restaurant offers validation.(not sure because I got my parking tix validated for 4 hrs at the movie theater). Service is whatever. I ordered two lunch menus, one salmon and bool go gi. Basically all lunch menus serve the same side dishes, soup and your choice of brown, mixed or white rice. Salmon and bool go gi both were on the sweeter side, pretty much all side dishes were sweet as well. I don’t understand since when korean food started tasting so sweet?! Basic, not so fancy banchans(side dishes) with some kinda den jang(soy bean paste) and go chu jang(red pepper paste) mixed soup?! None of lunch combos are worth the money. The rice portion was way too big and not enough side dishes. Unbalanced portions, it was mostly rice(carbs). The kimchi and dried fish banchan were stinky and tasted funny, as a korean restaurant, if kimchi doesn’t taste right, then the rest is pretty much expected to not taste right either.
